A perfect retreat! "Still Waters" is beautifully located alongside a two acre lake, and underneath sprawling live oak trees. Wildlife abounds!
“I went w/my 9yo son. My plan was to teach him how to fish & kayak while there. We accomplished both. What I didn't expect was the magnificent scenery & abundance of wildlife! We stayed 4 nts. From morning to night, different animals came out. There are fox, deer, fawn, cows, lizards, unusual birds (small & large), ducks, fish, hawks, squirrels, moccasins (only saw 1), spiders of ALL sizes & best of all, the owls. They are so beautiful & apparently not shy or timid at all. One let us walk right up for pictures & videos. The cabin itself is so cute. Not a ton of room, but perfect for two & can accommodate quite a few, if need be. You'd never know this is a lake cabin as you walk through the door. It's absolutely spotless. There's a very small old monitor used as a TV w/a DVD player & some movies, but we didn't try it out. They have every size pot & pan you need for cooking, along w/utensils & cutlery. A small fridge is provided, so I suggest bringing a cooler for extra room. Gas grill is available for use, as well as a small ground fire pit in the back. There's a screen you can put on it, if you'd rather use it for grilling. We liked walking the property in the evenings. They have walking sticks, along with a pair of binoculars. I highly suggest walking around with them at all times, including in the house, because you never know what you'll see out the windows or as you're walking around. Glen & Dottie were beyond amazing. Went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. Very down to Earth, hospitable folks. They don't bug you at all & stay out of the way, unless called upon. Their home is on the property, but the cabin is further down & secluded. I was afraid my son would get pretty bored, since there's no TV or WiFi for his electronics, but he never complained & by the time we were leaving, he insisted we come back someday. I agree 100%.”
Rustic cabin by a pond. Sleeps up to 8 people. Includes 2 BR, kitchen and detached bathroom with shower. Nothing fancy just a nice country getaway. Quiet and secluded. Perfect for fishing, bbq-ing or just relaxing in the country. FYI- there is not a stove in the kitchen, but we do have a hot plate, microwave and an outdoor grill.
“Wow! This is one of the prettiest properties -ranches that I have ever been too! Trees, trails, ponds, creeks, just beautiful! The camp house is a camp house, but certainly manageable, everything was adequate, John and Will were very helpful and we will certainly be back next year! Caught a few catfish in the pond and we grilled them as well! If you are looking for a place off the grid a few days or a few weeks this is your spot. Bring some extra towels, some bug repellent, and a few box fans , keep an open mind, and you will enjoy just as much as we did. Dogs too. All enjoyable! Very happy! The one and only thing we would bring next time is some extra sheets and thumbtacks to hang sheets over the Windows to help with all of the sunlight . But hey it is a camp and the sunrise is pretty too!”
Located in Sheridan, TX, 3/4 mile from Splashway Water Park. Come enjoy the outdoors with this beautifully renovated rural home and land. We welcome families, hunters, and work crews alike! We are far away enough from major cities that you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere at Serenity Farms while still being close enough to small towns like Hallettsville, Columbus, and Edna! Walmart and Brookshire Brothers in Hallettsville are about 15 minutes from the property.
“The inside was really nice. I believe that this is a better value than the Splashway cabins with two full baths and two bedrooms about 5 minutes down the road. The kitchen had almost everything we needed to cook some meals. A few perks like coffee, paper towels, and other non-essentials really made a difference. There is some junky storage in the back, but they put up a wooden fence that hides most of it. I definitely do like the cattle on the bordering property as they add to the country charm. I bet this place fills up quite a bit this summer for Splashway trips as it was easy and clean. I would be back again. ”
