“We really enjoyed the stay. The room is very nice and has a private terrace with a magnificent view of the valley and the mountains. The local breakfast and dinner is an absolute must. In the village you can simply follow the tracks or you go a bit further and get to the 9 arch bridge. The cooking class in the Spice Garden is highly recommended (not to be confused with the Spice Garden in Kandy). Thank you for the many good tips, the great food and the great time in Ella!”
Welcome to the wild with the comfort of a star-class room. Our unique two story Tree Cabin is your ultimate luxurious eco hideout. The lower deck of the plush wooden cabin is air-conditioned and has a glass wall on the river-front offering guests probably the most spell-binding experience from a Sri Lankan hotel room. The bedroom has the largest bed found in Sri Lanka and the room offers you truly mesmerizing views of the river below.
“What an amazing experience! We stayed in the Treehouse with air conditioning and our own roof terrace, beautiful! Waking up and being able to watch through the huge window from our bed, a troupe of macaques playing in the trees right in front of us was a truly magical and unforgettable experience. Dawn walks in the buffer zone of Yala Park resulted in seeing so many birds and the tracks of unseasonal elephant visits and porcupine. Discussing how significant the work being done by the Kumbuk River organisation with one of the head office team who happened to be staying at the same time as us, was enlightening. Their sponsorship of local girls and the village Montessori school as well as their plans for reforestation play such an important role in the local community. Just a note- probably worth organising your own onward transport before you arrive. We were encouraged to take a tuktuk to Mirissa, we took a car in the end which took over 4 hours- goodness knows how long it would have taken in a tuktuk and feel the SR 16,000 was not as competitive as it should have been. We had a wonderful stay, 3 days of fabulous experiences- mud bath and massage included. It was a truly magical experience that we won’t forget!! Don’t hesitate to visit if you can.”
'A cute little hidden away homestead. Fringed by jungle bathed in peace and run by a lady who never stops smiling' - Lonely Planet Guide We would love to host you in our family home, offering authentic homecooked Sri Lankan meals with panoramic views of both Little Adams Peak and Ella Rock from your bedroom and the shared terrace. A short walk from town, we are happy to help you plan a memorable stay in Ella and any activities you'd like to do.
“We loved our visit to Chamodya Homestay. It is in a good location, just a short walk into town on the train tracks and therefore also easy access to the Ella Rock hike and Nine Arch Bridge. The view is stunning and made the delicious breakfast even more enjoyable. The room itself was a good size, fairly basic but with all the essentials. The only slight downside is that it is difficult to have a shower without getting the whole bathroom wet, but the shower and other facilities are good. Lilu was also a fantastic host. Always friendly, smiling and super helpful. She gave us local tips, did some much appreciated laundry for us, and was always on hand with water or fresh juice when we got back from exploring. We also ate dinner at the homestay one evening and the food was amazing. Really reasonably priced for an absolute feast. I would definitely recommend this little homestay as a base for Ella!”
