“We had a lovely stay at Arima Koyoda Hataya. The location in the heart of the old town is brilliant. The room nicely combined modern facilities with traditional Japanese design. Double glazed windows and screens allowed for quiet but the town activity dropped off early in the evening so we opened the windows and enjoyed the cool night air and morning birdsong. We had the onsen all to ourselves which was a treat. Very nice Yukata and comfortable Geta provided. Our hosts had limited English but were very gracious and helpful so it wasn’t a problem.”

You have to pay extra charge 1000yen if you late arrival time over 18:00.
“We never had the chance to meet Masami, but her sister Miyoko was absolutely wonderful. She was so patient with our poor Japanese language skills and was very warm hearted and kind. The room is lovely, classic style with tatami mat floors and ample space to store luggage. The downstairs common area is stocked with complimentary tea and coffee and other items for sale. Both of the main public onsens (Gin no ku and Kin no ku) are a 5-10 minute walk from the front door along with easy access to the town’s beautiful nature areas. Miyoko is extremely kind and thoughtful and has plenty of tips for things to do in the area and where to find them. Wish we could stay longer!”
