“Paradise Escape is the best place to stay on the island. The hosts, Lynette and Grant are super accommodating, fun to share a drink with and gave us great advice on island attractions. Plus the best snorkeling on the island is just a short walk down the road. It was also very relaxing sitting outside under shelter with a coffee in the morning giving Idaho a pat and then again relaxing with a glass of wine in the evening. We’ll be return visitors in the future!”
Our place is close to the beach. You’ll love our place because of the ambiance, the outdoors space, the light, the comfy beds which can be singles or king bed, and the neighborhood. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.
“We LOVED our one week stay in this clean, bright and modern beach house located on the SW side of the island just east of the Rarotonga Beach Resort. It is located on the main road, so you will hear street traffic if you leave your windows open at night, but during the day, you have a stunning view of the ocean from the private covered deck (in the shade all day) that faces the ocean. We loved listening to the sound of the waves, walking the beach, and the superb snorkeling right in front of the beach house. We recommend you bring your own snorkeling gear. We were thankful for the starter kit of tea bags, instant coffee, sugar, milk, 1.5 liter of water that was provided. You’ll need to purchase bottled water for drinking because it is not recommended you drink water from the tap. The beach house also included: a hard drive with numerous recorded movies/TV shows, 2 bath towels, 2 beach towels, a hairdryer, an iron/ironing board, wonderful indoor & outdoor showers, a washing machine, laundry detergent, an outdoor clothesline, clothespins, indoor clothes drying rack. There is a Bluesky hotspot at the house. There is no landline, so you need to purchase a sim card at the airport or at locations in town if you need a phone to make local reservations or to use wifi, or just go to Chantal’s Concierge located near the Fruits of Rarotonga and have them book reservations for you. We were glad that we rented a car as we loved having the freedom to explore the island plus we were dry on rainy days while the folks on scooters got soaked. There are potholes on the road, so a car also felt safer than riding a scooter. If you are visiting from another continent, bring power adapters so you can plug in your appliances and recharge your phone, etc.. They use Type I in the Cook Islands. There was one adapter in a kitchen cupboard, but we didn’t use it since we had purchased our own, so we don’t know if it works or not. Money can be exchanged Monday-Friday at the Western Union or BSP Bank in Avarua upon your arrival. Jane, the new manager, dropped by to see if we needed anything, and she was quite helpful. We were grateful that you graciously accommodated our early arrival and late departure. We highly recommend Frederick & Ngamata’s Beach House for your stay in Raro. We miss it already!”
One bedroom bungalow fully self-contained Queen bed in semi-enclosed bedroom with fan, insect screens on door & windows. Spacious bathroom, shower, washbasin & toilet. Kitchen with appliances. Lounge sofa bed, dining table, TV, outdoor deck & BBQ
“I actually stayed in the apartment under the house (not a bungalow). The apartment is a great size with bathroom, kitchen, tv with DVDs. There are free bikes to use and snorkel gear. The hosts are really kind and great to talk to. There are a lot of dogs around this road and 2 friendly cats too. It is about 3 min walk down to the beach and there are nearby takeaway shops you can walk to. Fresh fruit in the kitchen was great and there were breakfast foods provided in the fridge. The double bed is a bit hard to sleep on (i.e a firm mattress, not so squishy) so it wasn't the best to sleep on compared to what I'm used to, however it was sleep-able, so just depends on your preference for mattresses. I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay here again. Thank you!”
