Hotel-style suite in 120 year old home, set up close to downtown and hip North End. 2 min walk to grocery, liquor store, restaurants. En suite bathroom with shower, queen bed, mini fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker & 48 inch TV with Netflix. Extras: heated mattress pad, fast WIFI, Bluetooth speaker & android tablet in the suite for use. QEII Hospital: 15 min walk Downtown: 30 min walk Flat is not wheelchair accessible - 5 stairs up to the unit.
This is the living room of our flat that I've blocked off from the rest of the apartment (walled off and locking doors) and converted into a private guest suite. There is a queen size bed. It's locked off from the rest of my flat. There is no shared access to a kitchen or living space in our apartment. You have your own entrance to the room, a private en suite bathroom (sink, toilet, and shower), as well as a mini fridge, microwave, kettle, and coffee maker. The door to the rest of our flat closes and locks. So it's very private. It's set up like a hotel. It is a small space, for at most 2 people. But it’s cozy and has everything you need. The shower is a stand up shower and isn't really large. I love this location because it's easy access to downtown and major attractions but still in a quiet neighbourhood on a gated street. On major bus routes and it's a 5 minute cab (or 35 min walk) to downtown. Some people think that is close to downtown and some people find it far. All depends on your perspective. By Halifax standards it's extremely central and a very easy walk downtown. QEII Hospital: 15 min walk Spring Garden Rd (downtown): 23 min walk Waterfront: 32 min walk
The Quinpool District of Halifax is our personal favourite because it's close to all of the fun but far enough to get a quiet sleep. The flat is a 2 minute walk to necessities such as groceries, wine/beer store, pharmacy, gas station and all main public transit stops. Yukon Street is located two streets parallel to Quinpool Road, home to some of Halifax's most diverse and affordable restaurants, pubs and diners (Greek, Mediterranean, Korean, Chinese, Sushi, etc.) Everything you could possibly want is a five minute walk from the flat. Some people think we are close to downtown and some people find it far. All depends on your perspective. All we can say is that by Halifax standards it's extremely central and a very easy walk downtown. The Halifax Commons, including basketball, tennis courts, baseball fields and skate park) are a few blocks away from the space - about a 12 minute walk. There is also a public swimming pool and kids park including a fun water feature for the young ones. If you want to explore the Downtown core or the artsy and hip North End, they are only a 30 minute walk or 5 minute drive away.
  • For a long or a short stay this location has everything you need! We were greeted with a warm welcome and short tour and were left to get settled. The apartment is extremely spacious and well laid out. We stayed for 3 weeks and never felt like we were without anything we needed. Felt just like home. Laundry being included was a great luxury. Lee-Anne was sure to check in to make sure that our stay was going well.

  • This is one of the most comfortable beds I have slept on. In a convenient area of the city to get to downtown locations, this small unit is great for an overnight stay. It is in a quiet, residential area. Easy to take walks and enjoy the area without hearing lots of traffic. With a good price point, and timely communication before, on arrival, and during the stay I appreciated your support and place very much. Thank you.

  • Comfy stay, thanks!

  • Georgia and Lee-Anne are very hospitable and accommodating hosts. They made an exception to let me in early as my flight had arrived before the usual check-in time. They also helped me figure out the parking situation for my car. And they were very quick to answer any questions I had. The apartment had separate entrance, was furnished and had all the things you need. Neighbourhood was safe. And the location was very central. Less than 10 mins drive to most major things downtown. It's not surprising why this Air BnB listing is quite popular!

  • Beautiful room with a kind of old furniture victorian gothic vibe. A bit of a pet smell in the entryway and the towels had a substandard freshness level. Efficient and discreet communication with the owners. Overall enjoyable.

  • It's a funky place in a good location with great parking and a very comfortable king bed. :)

    Dianne2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Georgie's place was great for the price! It is a bit far from downtown. I don't mind the 30 minute walk, however it was on the colder side weather wise so it was a bit chilly! Would be an amazing walk with nicer weather. Street was very quiet. Bed was pretty comfortable along with a nice duvet. Historic charm true to photos. Provided lots of books about Halifax. I didn't use them, but TV and those types of amenities were provided as well. Parking available too, which is always a bonus! I would stay here again during a warmer time of the year.

    Samantha2019-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Very true to the description. We only stayed two nights while visiting family two blocks over. It was an excellent option for us. I will likely stay again as Georgie was very attentive and accommodating. Took the time to check in with us and the room was very accessible. Nice touches with the craft beers and really had everything you could need.

Incredible character! This studio is in a 1896 Victorian historic house with hardwood floors, 9-foot ceilings and shellacked wooden accents through out the place. It is gorgeous! The studio has its own private bathroom (stand up shower) and kitchenette. It is perfectly located, literally on Dalhousie University campus, just a few blocks away from the heart of downtown and the hospitals. There are other 3 independent units in the house. See the detailed description (below) for their AirBnB links.
Live in a historic house from 1896 with original hardwood floors, 9-feet ceilings, antique stained glass windows, and shellacked wooden stairs, doors and accents. A true Victorian atmosphere! The studio has its own private bathroom with a stand up shower, a kitchenette to help you prepare all your basic meals to start the day. A very comfortable real bed with a ortho mattress. Table with chairs for a meal or computer work, a suitcase stand for a better setting and a small closet for any hanging needed. The house has 4 independent units. All units share a common foyer entrance, but each unit has its own bathroom(s) and kitchen. Although none of the units have a living room, there is a shared living area in the foyer area on the second floor. See links below to see each unit: https://www.airbnb.ca/rooms/13727309 https://www.airbnb.ca/rooms/13742986 https://www.airbnb.ca/rooms/13743657 https://www.airbnb.ca/rooms/13721952 PARKING: There is ample parking space at the back of the house.
Our house is located in the so called "South End" neighbourhood. It is just beautiful! It is a residential area mainly made of "Victorian style" old houses. The neighbourhood is also home to Dalhousie University, and our house is literally on Campus. The neighbourhood is safe, clean and full of trees. It is inhabited mainly by middle and upper-middle class families (several schools around). During the day, you'll see lots of university students walking from one class to another. This neighbourhood is sought-after because of its strategically central location, walking distance to downtown and all Halifax's attractions.
  • Great value for dollar. Good location. Clean suite and responsive host.

  • Great location and a short waking distance to many of Halifax's entertainment, eating and drinking venues. The area is quiet and the home was clean. Very nice old Victorian home and it was awesome to have a place to park my car while I was out and about. Would definitely recommend and will be staying there again in the future.

    Vicki2017-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Cinthia’s place was a great base for exploring Halifax! She was very responsive and the apartment was quiet but close to everything.

    Anna2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Overall pleasant stay. Historic home located close to Dalhousie. Check-in was very simple. Parking was located behind the home and is convenient but tight for larger vehicles. Tiny bathroom may not be functional for larger people. Windows do not have screens so it becomes a trade off between stuffiness and bugs. Noise could be a problem if other guests are inconsiderate but was not an issue during our stay.

    Charlie2017-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • A nice spot by the campus, easy walk to the downtown area. Very clean and cozy. Not much room in the unit, so it's more of a place to crash than to hang out. Overall, a good value room for a quick stay in Halifax.

    Phil2017-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • I'll definitely try to stay here again, the next time I'm in Halifax.

Cool flat in unique 120 year old house. Close to downtown & hip North End. 2 min walk to grocery, liquor store, restaurants. 2 bedrooms (real beds: queen & double), pullout couch & full kitchen. Comfortably accommodates 4, less-comfortably accommodates 6! Extras: Netflix, android tablet, fast WIFI & Bluetooth speaker for use by guests QEII Hospital: 15 min walk Downtown/Waterfront: 30 min walk My spaces are LGBTQ+ friendly & anti-racist. House is not wheelchair accessible.
The apartment fits 4 people comfortably with two bedrooms featuring one double and one queen size bed. We can fit up to 6 people including the futon in the living room. One bedroom is larger and one is smaller. There is a small but cozy living room, separate dining room and a private deck. Kitchen is fully outfitted for meals at home, all you need are the groceries. The bathroom has a clawfoot tub. Towels, blowdryer, shampoo/soap, etc. are available as well! It's a neat old eccentric apartment! I love it. Some things people haven't loved are: The floors are not in the best shape, they are fine but have definitely seen better days aesthetically. Some of the walls are slope-y (it's a third floor apartment, built out from the attic). Taller folks may have to slouch in the shower. The apartment can be happily used to have a few friends over while you're visiting the city. We love the location because it easy access to downtown and major attractions but still in a quiet neighbourhood on a gated street. On major bus routes and its a 5 minute cab to downtown and we have parking (parking limited in winter months). Some people think that is close to downtown and some people find it far. All depends on your perspective. All we can say is that by Halifax standards it's extremely central and a very easy walk downtown. • The apartment is spacious and parking is provided. The location was perfect. We could walk downtown easily and we enjoyed the park areas, restaurants, and amenities located nearby.

  • Lee-Anne and Georgia have a beautiful space! The apartment was clean, comfortable and in a great location. We loved our time there!

    Kat2016-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Georgie's apartment is a great spot right in the heart of the city. Just a block off of Quinpool, the entire city is really accessible (even by foot) from the apartment. It is in a stylish character home, which my wife and I really appreciated. The local tips and really great little touches around the apartment, made it a really helpful stay. I am fortunate enough to know Halifax pretty well, but even I learned a lot of really helpful hints and ideas. Thanks again!

  • Georgia and Lee-Anne provided a comfortable, convenient, clean and accessible stay. The apartment came exactly as described with all the necessities for a wonderful stay. They have thought out every detail of your stay, providing easy to follow instructions, maps, snacks, extra keys and everything else. Thank you both so much for having Rose and I. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to be back soon!

    Ian2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was delightful, the neighborhood quiet and green -- we had everything we needed to make our stay in Halifax relaxing and pleasant. The location was great, as everything we wanted to see and do was a scenic walk away and we weren't surrounded by places that cater to tourists. It was nice to stay in a real neighborhood. The only thing missing that was promised in the profile was the "house manual" that would have been helpful to figure out things like how to work the television, but we were informed that it had been compromised by a previous visitor. We never saw our hosts, and it sometimes took a while to hear back from them after sending a text message, but things went really smoothly otherwise and I appreciated being left to do our own thing. We loved experiencing Halifax from our own little space like this, and if/when we return to this lovely town, I hope one of Georgia and Lee-Anne's apartments is available again.

We had a great time at Christopher's place, we were there for a long weekend in Halifax. There were buses conveniently located just a block away to go downtown. The house is comfortable and spacious. The kitchen utensils are a little spartan but usable. As mentioned in the listing, the shower is quite small but we were able to make it work. The wifi was a bit spotty.
