“The accommodation is excellent. It is very well located, within the historic center and very few blocks from everything (monuments, cafes, shops, etc.). The department is set to perfection, with very thoughtful details. We stayed two people and we were very comfortable. Absolutely nothing is missing and the response of Pilar and her husband have been immediate before any questions, as well as check-in. I would definitely go back.”
Perched on a hill on a quinta once owned by Dominican monks, the cottage is a tranquil base for exploring the Alentejo countryside, convenient for many delightful day-trip destinations (see "The Neighborhood"). Closer to home, relax by the pool, stroll in the 15-hectare olive grove or along the lovely quiet road to Varche, grill on the patio, or wander around the lovely World Heritage fortress town of Elvas, 5 km away.
“I highly recommend the Bread Oven Cottage. It was an amazing get away. So peaceful and quiet. I spent 8 days there and I absolutely loved it. The cottage is charming and cozy and the property is beautiful. The bed is comfortable. The layout is great. The place is very private but you can easily access the garden, the olive grove, the horse stables, the pool, etc. Miranda and Krister are available and respond quickly to any questions or requests. Upon arrival there was a bottle of wine, fresh bread, cheese and fruit as well as the famous and delicious pastel de nada. On my second day, I was offered two fresh eggs. There is much to explore on their property. They have the sweetest animals, the most quiet and handsome rooster that I have ever met. Mouse, one of the resident cats was so sweet, adorable and affectionate. They also have 3 hens and two beautiful horses. The neighbors have a heard of sheep and a few goats that you can see when you walk around the property. The cottage is primarily heated with a wood stove in the winter (they provide wood from the pruning of the olive grove). I definitely think a car is a necessity when staying here.”

“Great value and a great position for my wife and I to spend 9 days. The flat is compact but very neat with all we needed. Pilar was super communicative and our stay was better than we expected at that price. This is in the lovely old town and the our favorite restaurant was La Mafia. A cute bar was Jerez on the plaza at the Cathederal. There is also one with giant shady trees just up the street opposite the nearby church. No need for car/taxi. Most places in Spain don’t have English TV, so take your Apple TV etc. Most shops are closed on Sunday except some like Corte de Engles. The parking garage is near and costs €15 per day. Thanks again Pilar!!”
