10, Nautical Mile - as the name suggests, this is a Mountain Cottage of a Mariner. This has been made out of love for the mountains and a wish to slow down the pace of life. Ideal for family and 'me' time, this is a home away from a home; tucked away in the lush green forest 15km away from the cantonment Town of Ranikhet at Uttarakhand.
“In a bit of a quandry, whether to pick the host or the space for an exceptional experience. Been to a lot of Airbnb's/Hotels but this wins hands down on being the perfect getaway with amazing location, views, hospitality by Ganesh/Rajesh with a awesome food experience served with a lot of love. The icing on the whole experience was AJ, guiding us and always making sure that our every need was taken care of. Simply put - it was a holiday that ticked all boxes. Not to be missed and for sure - Im going back SOON !!”
Our place is situated in the Himalayan hill of state of Uttarakhand. It is located in an organic farm amid forests and rolling hills. A beautiful and quiet place for nature lovers. We have 3 double bed rooms and you can book all 3 or individually. THE TARIFF GIVEN IS FOR ONE DOUBLE ROOM PER DAY &NIGHT. So...if you need more than one room, each one needs to be booked separately.
“This is not just a place, its an ecosystem in itself, which you as guests can observe for endless hours. Tarun has created this place out of nowhere into a bird sanctuary. There were birds all around this place and I had never come so much closer to them before. Go definitely if you are a bird lover, nature enthusiast, love raw set up with basic amenities so that you feel connected to nature. Firstly about the location. Its a place Tarun created on the hills on the way from Berinag to Choukori. You'll not miss the board he has put up on the highway. Some may find the drive up to parking a bit tough due to terrain and height. Anyways, it was fine for my car. I happened to reach late, around dusk, but still could sense that this place was full of life around. Tarun took me around his place showing smaller ecosystems he had build for various birds. His knowledge on birds seems to be good ( I am not expert btw), but more importantly he seems to have the connect with them. The next morning he called close, literally close, a grey headed wookdpecker, which he called "Chintu". The bird seem to have confided into Tarun's place and was not at all scared of the guests. Apart from that we witnessed various other birds that he told have migrated from different parts. Amazing place to relax and watch the nature run by at this place. Tarun also organizes games/events and training exercises, which I found interesting. Lastly, food was also a feature with local veggies prepared by Tarun's mother, who's really a witty lady. She cracked a lot of jokes and never seemed like getting tired of the number of work she does. Amazing family to meet and superb location to stop by.”
Vidyun's hill home in Dhamas, overlooks the snow clad Himalayan peaks of Trishul and Nanda Devi, with pine forest walks, bird watching and occasional sightings of leopard, pine martins, jackals in the forest behind the house. The house has 2 (two) "ensuite" bedrooms with private bathrooms. We do not give out the two bedrooms separately. Each bedroom is equipped to accommodate up to 3 guests. Even if a single guest books the entire cottage is kept free so u have EXCLUSIVE use.
“The cottage is even lovelier in life than in the photos here on Airbnb. We took the kachcha raasta by mistake and it was a great drive (and also shaved off some time). The cottage has lots of linen and since we were travelling ahead after Dhamas, the washing machine was a blessing. We spent most of our time on the lookout style balcony - the view is incredible! The caretaker, Anandji was very helpful and his food was simple but delish. We'd suggest you stock up on your way in though and ask for him to shop in advance. We carried milk, Dahi and chocolates from Delhi and we're glad we did that. 4G works perfectly so you don't really need WiFi. There's a lovely hike from behind the property that's a definite must do. Sanjeev, the host, was constantly in touch via mobile and was very helpful with things to do locally as well as directions on the way up. We'll be going back again for sure and would definitely recommend Vidyuns.”
