I am creating an airbnb account for my two lovely parents, who are empty nesters for the first time in thirty-two years. We, myself and my five siblings, were blessed to be raised in the quaint city of Batavia, IL, which boasts river paths, close proximity to a train station that will take you into Chicago, and historic neighborhoods such as our own. Our property consists of two homes, our own and a coach house, which we would love for you to stay in! Both are situated on a family-friendly old-fashioned alley with mature maple trees. We thank you and wish you a pleasant stay regardless of where you choose to stay the night. All our best.
“Batavia is a wonderful little town (26,000), for a start, with a beautiful river and waterfront, hiking and cycling trails, interesting history. The little carriage house is just a few blocks from the river. I thought it was comfortable and lovely, although if you're looking for a five-star hotel experience, it is simpler and less chic than that. I cooked for a week and that worked well. The bedroom is one large room with a double bed and two singles, which wasn't clear to me from the photos. I didn't immediately realize there was a washing machine and dryer, very useful. Mary is a great hostess, attentive but also ready to leave you alone if you need that (I was working on a project and needed solo time). Very nice family, and they are right next door, in case there are any problems.”
Our cozy log home has an open living space with lots of windows in an oak forest. The living/dining/kitchen has a wood buring stove and opens up to a porch and outdoor fireplace. The 2nd bedroom is in the loft, the 3rd in the walk out basement.
“I had a wonderful month stay during April. The house is in an idyllic setting in a wooded area but close to the downtown and nearby stores. I spent a lot of time on the porch swing which was so relaxing. It was chilly while I was there and it was fun to make an indoor fire. (Tip: get some kindling from Home Depot.) The bathroom was lovely! The house was spotless when I arrived. Check-in was easy - a friend of theirs greeted me and helped me with my bags. The fresh flowers were a nice touch! Kaye and Ken were responsive, gracious, and kind hosts. I would have liked a little more detail in the listing about the amenities. The kitchen is pretty basic, which was fine, but I would have liked to know ahead of time. The wifi signal was weak, so I struggled with some basic navigation and watching video was out. I ended up going to the nearby library for some video calls I needed to make. Some things I got used to were the insects that naturally are going to be in a wooded area as well as the difficulty in adjusting the house temperature with extreme weather or quick changes in weather. (Maybe a space heater would be a nice add?) Overall, this was a wonderful experience and I would recommend this home!”
Pandemic alert and rules for cleanness follows by hosts and guests. Our home is great for solo adventurers, and business travelers. Often additional guests to enhance your stay. Group meals with international travelers. Guests are starting new jobs, Fermi Lab., often foreigners, just solds, identifying the area to move family. You’ll love my place because of the people, the ambiance, the outdoors space, and the neighborhood. Social distancing required.
“I loved staying with Mark and Terry! Their house was comfortable and cozy, and they were truly wonderfully welcoming hosts. I really enjoyed meeting their family and very much appreciated having such a great AirBnB experience. I was working very long hours, and they were completely okay with my schedule. There was easy parking, a separate fridge I could use if I liked, and always easy access to the bathroom and anything I needed. By the end of my stay, I wished I’d booked it longer, it was such a lovely and easy home-away-from-home! Thank you for such a good experience, it certainly made my long hours at work much more bearable to have such a nice room to come back to. I am so happy to have found this AirBnB gem! Thank you to your family for welcoming me in!”
