Stables by the Vines

In 1856, an English stonemason, Thompson Priest, began mining slate in Mintaro. At the same time, he built a home with stables at the rear of his property. Over the intervening years, the stables fell into a desperate state, however, recently, the Stable has returned to life through a sensitive restoration and refurbishment. Set on the edge of Reillys Winery, the Stable is a 100m walk through the vines to the cellar door and further 20 metres to the renowned Magpie Stump Hotel.

You'll love the walks you can take after dinner and the rumpus room is the perfect place to sit by the Pot Belly Fire and watch a movie. If you're into mountain bikes, Melrose is one of the best attractions in South Australia. If you don't have a bike, you can hire them in town.
