“This is a Grade A place. Deborah is a very warm and efficient host. The accommodations and property are even better than they look in pictures - super clean, comfortable, and the surroundings are majestic. One of the very best AirBNB experiences my wife and I have ever had. Terrific value overall. We would return again without hesitation.”

“Heron House provided the perfect little get-a-way for my husband and I. We enjoyed the place so much that on our last day, we decided we'll be planning another stay here in our future. The space is compact, but comfortable for the two of us, and very clean. Alexander is a good-natured host who greeted us with a smile (beneath his mask of course) and made us feel welcomed and comfortable right away. The bed is a good size and is comfy. The bathroom is small, but very clean, well lit, with ample towels, a great shower... and equipped with a second mirror that has soft lighting which came in handy during the night. The counter area for making meals is small, but we had no trouble organizing our plates of food... all cutlery and dishes are provided (and cleaned each day for us), as well as a coffee maker, toaster, microwave and so forth... and the small fridge was just fine for the two of us. Inside the space there's also a large, flat screen television for those who want to watch a movie or regular programming. We don't watch a lot of TV on our vacations, but we did watch some news and the picture was nice and clear. The seating area is well-equipped with nice chairs and room to stretch out your legs and a small table that we used to play scrabble (there's cupboard and drawer space to put your things out of the way during your stay). And saving the best for last... the view from the outdoor deck is just lovely. Morning, afternoon, and evening there's always something to watch: boats are anchored or quietly passing by, groups or single birds glide through the sky, skim the surface of the water, or land for a rest, and the skyscape is vast and mesmerizing. We had great weather for our three night stay, but on the one day that it did rain... we sat in the comfy deck chairs, and watched and listened as the storm approached... while the handy electronic canopy made sure that we stayed dry. The location of Heron House is also good... even close enough to walk to shops and restaurants if that's your thing. And a short drive away is a fantastic wilderness area full of trails (needs an updated trail map and trail markers though). Anyway, you can probably tell that we loved Heron House... it's quaint and private and peaceful... and exactly the kind of relaxing 'me time' kind of place that we were hoping to experience.”
Secluded off grid cabin. Not remote but a very quiet and peaceful location beside the stream on our small hobby farm.Cabin is surrounded by woods and the stream. Built in a 2016 by local Amish craftsmen, the cabin was designed and decorated to reflect an earlier era. Suitable for one or two people, there is ample room to relax. No washroom, but a new, clean outhouse. We have a homemade outdoor kitchen with BBQ, propane griddle and 2 propane burners.
“The cabin by the stream was a sweet, perfect escape for two from the city. Everything was clean and we felt very safe given the pandemic, plus John was extremely responsive. The cabin had every amenity we needed for a relaxing few days: the outdoor kitchen was an awesome touch, the outhouse was very clean, and the farm offered serene daily strolls. Plus, only a short drive away from some nice hikes at Ferris Park or site-seeing in the area (ie Marmora Mine). We are recommending this to all our friends and would absolutely return the next time we’re looking for peace in nature.”
