This comfortable newly decorated two-storey semi-detached house is a three minute stroll to Newcastle West town centre and ideally located near the Great Southern Greenway (a 39km walking and cycling off-road route). Situated just off the N21, it is a perfect base for exploring the south west of Ireland.
“Newcastle West is a great spot to explore the southwest of Ireland. Margaret gave us a warm welcome at her little house. She explained everything in detail and also the communication before and while our stay was super easy and we always got a fast reply. The house was really nice and we felt like home there. It was very clean and Margaret prepared everything so nicely and also left some goods. We had a great time there and would definitely come back if we will visit Ireland again!”

“Great location! The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was very clean. I didn’t see Seamus much because I was busy with seeing family, but from what I did see he was a very nice man and me being able to come and go made my trip a lot better. I would definitely recommend, without a shadow of a doubt.”
Ash Cottage dates back to 1914. It has been completely restored using materials sourced from old buildings & historical sites from all over Ireland to retain its character. Limestone sourced from a local quarry & Knocklong Creamery, cills from Killarney Railway Station, sleepers from the old Galway railway line & Military House Curragh, flooring from Donnybrook Hospital, church pew & notice board from Dunamaise Church and 150 year old Killaloe & Balmoral slates are just a few items used.
“Wonderful home!! It’s very clean and homely. The whole place is layed out and designed so lovely, lots of personal touches which made it feel like home. Very warm and even had a fire already prepared for us. With amble logs to use. The kitchen has everything you need! Coffee tea sugar to use which was great, sometimes many homes don’t provide this, fresh milk in the fridge so we could make a warm drink on arrival. The beds were comfortable and amble begin provided. Very comfortable and with heated blankets but the house was so warm we didn’t use them. The front room is lovely, big comfortable space with sky tv and strong WiFi. Lots of games to play which was great fun. Tom was helpful and popped in to see if we are okay which was lovely, we asked to check in early and it wasn’t a problem. The house has a lovely story behind it which made it even more special, there is a book you can read all about it. The renovations done to the property are high standard and We will be definitely visiting again, one of the best places we have stayed bar far!!”
