Vacation rentals with a fireplace in Costilla County

My partner and I had a great stay with Patrick. I especially appreciated his responsiveness. It is in an ideal spot to visit the Sand Dunes and enjoy the local hiking. I loved just hanging out at the campsite too. Thank you!

Firstly- what an AMAZING spot! It felt like we had acres to ourselves and the dogs. Only wildlife around was some horses that we saw. We had an issue with communication at first, but once we told Hayden what time we were coming in, he was quick to respond when we had questions. You can’t beat this spot for secluded camping for this price

Nicole met us and spent about 20 minutes showing us the ins and outs. Earthnest is a true experience. It’s an off-grid home that runs on solar energy, well water, and window-driving cooling! But don’t be deterred…this home has all the comforts + the beautiful mountain/desert/reservoir views. It was quiet and we have never seen so many stars! You do make some energy consolations due to the solar power, but it really teaches you to pair down. We were still able to take long, hot (tankless water heater!) baths (in a GIANT, beautiful tub) + showers. We could run fans to help keep the house cool during the day. Minor cons - head height is low in some places, so tall people take note! There are only 2 proper beds (both Queen; one soft and one firm) - which worked fine for us, but might be tough for larger groups. It is 50 minutes from the Dunes and about 45 to Alamosa (which is the only place with actual grocery stores/multiple restaurants). All in all, if you are looking for a true “get away,” Earthnest hits all the marks.

Amy and Theresa's place is located just by the mountains in a secluded location with amazing views all around. We visited in mid April and got some snow which made the view even more lovely. The house is relatively small but feels very roomy and cozy. My kids had such a great time that my 8 yo was literally hugging the walls when we left! Getting there can be a bit challenging since you have to drive 4 miles through dirt roads, but Amy was very helpful and we made it there without much hassle.

We had an absolutely lovely stay here. The house itself is situated with a fantastic view out the front across the plain and the back face the local mountain range making for an idyllic spot. The house itself is very new and nicely appointed. The kitchen was very well appointed while the living and were comfortable and tastefully decorated. All this and close to the great sand dunes park makes it a place we hope to return to again.

This is a gem. This Airbnb has quickly become one of our favorite stays of all time, and we’ve been all over the world. The view is truly stunning, and the house was smartly appointed. Rachael and Daron were exemplary hosts, and it was easy to tell that they put thought into the details. We can’t wait to come back again someday.

This is such a comfortable cabin! Make sure you plan for 30 minutes to get to the cabin from town and another 30 to get back into town. You will feel like you are visiting at your friends house! It is so laid back and beautiful. The mosquitoes are definitely thick but get a Thermacell and that will help. Enjoy being out away from everything and unwind. This is certainly a location to unplug from work and enjoy the visit with your family. Thanks Erika for sharing your home and being so quick to respond to our requests!
