Our mountain retreat is close to the Shenandoah National Park, Shenandoah River, Appalachian Trail, Front Royal and Highway 66. You鈥檒l love the coziness, location, nature and the tranquility. This large space is good for writers, solo adventurers and business travelers.
Our room is spacious and quiet. There is a desk, microwave, refrigerator, futon and coffee table to make you feel comfortable. Storage includes a wardrobe, utility closet, 2 night stands and 2 small rolling cabinets.
The house is located in a very quiet neighborhood on Apple Mountain. There are some steep inclines/declines getting to/from our house to the main road. All of these roads are paved and are easy to traverse. Our community has excellent snow removal if you are planning a winter stay. The last stretch of road leading to our house is gravel and level, as is our driveway which is paved. The Apple House Restaurant is 5 minutes away as are 2 gas stations and a 7-11. It is less than 10 minutes to Front Royal where there is plenty of shopping, restaurants and laundry mats. Our close proximity to 66 makes it easy to get to Winchester or Gainesville. The Shenandoah River and Appalachian Trail are minutes away. The Shenandoah National Park is 15 minutes away. There are also wineries and orchards 10 minutes away. In short, this where people living in the DC area come to recreate.
  • Quiet, private, mountain top living. Excellent sunset views. Arlene & Mark are fun, friendly, accomodating hosts. I look forward to a future stay. 馃挋

  • Arlene and Mark have been nothing short of truly amazing. This was my first long term stay with Airbnb and I am so glad I got Mark and his wife Arlene as my hosts. From day one they were so accommodating to me, checked on me, communicated so well with me, and have truly made me feel as though I had a home away from home. I can't thank them enough for everything. A great example of their kindness and heart was when there was someone who wanted to stay about 2 weeks longer than me, but check in about 3 days later than me and I had just arrived in town (Winchester) on a Sunday for work to build a Solar PV Farm and I didn't have a place to stay. Mark and Arlene approved me to stay instead as I was already in town and I didn't have a place to stay. They didn't want to leave me without a home and took care of me when they could have opted to take the other guest as they wanted to stay longer and would have made more money. Truly blessed to have come across such great heart felt people and hosts. I will definitely be recommending them if I ever know of anyone who is planning on staying in the area or if I ever return :) On specifics of the place, their home is beautiful and located in the mountains. I love my drive everyday to work because it is such a beautiful site to see the lush green trees and distant mountains as I drive down the mountain. The place you stay in is even better in person than the pictures show. It is really spacious and I love how there is a sliding door access on the side of the house that allows you private access to your room without disturbing anyone and there is a code to get in which is nice because it saves the trouble of potentially losing a key. The space is located at the bottom of the house and to the right of the garage which allows you all the privacy you want if that is what you are looking for. The bed is really comfortable, the bathroom is really nice, and the decorations in the room are beautiful as it illustrates artwork from different places they have traveled. You cannot go wrong with booking this place. Great heart warming and welcoming hosts, a great spacious place, and an outstanding value!!! Again, thank you Mark and Arlene for everything. My stay here will not be forgotten.

  • Immaculately clean! The entry is very private with a beautiful view of the woods and mountain range. The bed is extremely comfortable; I was able to work nights and sleep peacefully during the day even with close access to the freeway. Mark and Arlene are wonderful hosts and will respond quickly to any questions you may have. Thanks for the great stay!!

  • This was the perfect location for us! The bed and bath were very comfortable and the room was super inviting and cozy. We had a great host and their dog was very nice and quiet. Thanks Ben and Sarah!

    Taylor2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah鈥檚 place is worth the few minutes off of 81. it is quiet, comfortable, meets all expectations and comes with two of the friendliest dogs around.

    David2018-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean home with a nice size room. Ben was very hospitable, but the dogs stole the show for me. They pups were very welcoming and very affectionate. Highly recommend (especially if you鈥檙e a dog person like me)!

  • Sarah and Ben are very nice hosts. You will enjoy meeting them and the happy dog. Everything is up to standards for cleanliness and attention to details. The neighbourhood is very pleasant if you need a nice walk after driving. Highly recommended. I will be returning on my trip back to Nova Scotia.

    Dan2019-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Ben & Sarah鈥檚 for only 1 night, but my short stay was very enjoyable and exactly what I was hoping for when I booked it. Their house was beautiful and clean, in a very nice and friendly neighborhood. My room and bathroom were exceptionally clean, and they provided everything I needed during my stay (towels, toiletries, etc.). Check-in and check-out was painless, they even let me check-in a little early to accommodate me, which I really appreciated. Ben & Sarah were both very kind and made me feel welcome in their home. I would highly recommend that anyone looking to stay in the Winchester/Stephens City area book their stay with Ben & Sarah, you鈥檒l be glad that you did!

  • Melanie is very nice and has a clean place. Despite stairs to the attic space it does have a private bathroom and has a window air conditioning unit. Had snacks in room. breakfast offered... but I didn鈥檛 ask since I had brought my own food. She had a roomy frig and freezer in the attic room;). Only 鈥榙ownside鈥 is the 2 flights of stairs. She did offer to help carry luggage:). Would definitely stay again!

Secluded neighborhood with house directly on the Shenandoah river. Private quarters with amazing views from your own deck and sun room. Long dirt road to access property. Cattle likely grazing throughout the road in.
The Shenandoah river is visible and easily accessible right from the door.
Mostly residents in the area because of the secluded back road to get here. It鈥檚 a peaceful getaway.
  • A stylish unique place that offers great views of the river. Peaceful and quiet. Justin was quick to respond to my inquiries throughout our stay. Loved having coffee/tea down by the water. Best thing...pet friendly! My dogs thoroughly enjoyed exploring a new place and the nature surroundings.

    Jamie2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place, just as described. We really enjoyed our time in Front Royal and Shenandoah National Park. Thanks for hosting us, Justin.

    Carolin2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • A great place especially for those with 4 legged traveling companions. Our two girls loved the large fenced yard and sniffed every inch of it. The second floor unit is quite large with a big living room and 47 inch tv and great views of the river. Nice size main bedroom and the queen sized bed is comfortable. Bathroom is dated but clean.

    Richard2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Except for the bad way into the village, everything else is good.

    Shijia2019-09-13T00:00:00Z

  • Justin offers a spacious and comfortable area for his visitors. We brought our 6-month old puppy, who loved the enclosed yard.

    Katie2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Justin's place was well maintained!! He did mention that it doesnt come with a kitchen and a wifi which we missed. If you want to spend time peacefully without mobile, wifi , by the river thats the best place. He do have microwave and a good fridge which would really help a lot!! Though he mentioned he didnt have a kitchen he helped us with a electric stove as we had babies with us. He was very helpful!!

  • Colton & Jesika were great host. They made me feel right at home within minutes of being in their place. The bed was super comfy, literally felt like I just melted into the memory foam topper. Pup and kitties were so friendly, embraced all the snuggles. Their place is super clean and we had great conversation.

    Chanelle2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Colton and Jesika were extremely accommodating of a last minute trip! Can鈥檛 recommend enough!

    Jennifer2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first time staying in a shared space with AirBnB and it wasn鈥檛 something I was totally happy about needing to do. But Colton & Jesika made it easy for me to feel comfortable and like I still had plenty of freedom to move around the place. I have to say that the two kittens and a puppy as my roommates was an added bonus and I would definitely stay with them again. If it鈥檚 still available, I鈥檇 totally stay again when I come back to Virginia next year!

    Jason2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Colton and Jesika are SO warm and welcoming, and their space is so clean and well organized. They have the cutest kittens who are a hot, and I would 100% recommend them to anyone.

  • I highly recommend staying with Colton and Jesika! Both hosts were quick to respond and incredibly friendly, the room was nicely decorated, and the bed was comfortable. Guest parking was easy to find and close enough to the house.

    Jennifer2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Colton and Jesika are wonderful! They have a great location, an extremely comfy bed, and two cute kitties that are fun to watch! They are so kind and I had a wonderful time chatting with them! We had coffee on their porch and chatted about life and watched the kitties play. Would highly recommend to anyone passing through or staying a while! They are people you don鈥檛 want to pass up as hosts!

Dearmont Hall is a gorgeous, meticulously restored, 1850 mansion "in the shadow of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains," as a local historian writes. Running for a quarter mile along the Opequon Creek, the property sits on 15 secluded acres, but offers easy access to Skyline Drive, vineyards, hiking, hunting, fishing, birdwatching, horse riding, museums, arts, fine dining, Civil War battlefields, and much more. Washington DC is a 90-minute drive, while Dulles is under an hour.
You'll have a fully furnished private bedroom (the "Winchester"), with a queen-sized bed, ample closet space, bureaus, and sitting areas. The baths are shared, but there are two, so there will never be a line! Both bedrooms have access to an upstairs porch where you can relax with your coffee in the morning or enjoy a complimentary glass of wine in the evening. Coffee and tea, etc., will be available during the morning hours and you are welcome to use the kitchen if it is available. If you're a kayaker, you can set your boat into the stream that runs alongside the property and float downstream all the way to the Potomac. The Shenandoah River is only minutes away as well. Otherwise you can relax here, or make it your home base as you explore the many indoor and outdoor activities the area offers.
This historic antebellum mansion is a 90-minute drive from Washington, DC, and less than an hour from Dulles Intl Airport. Located in pristine, rural Clarke County, you're still close to a thriving and vibrant Winchester (15 minutes), fine dining, vineyards, and all the wonders of country living.
  • Great host who was very responsive and accommodating at the last minute. The home was very clean, beautiful and full of history. I highly recommend it if your are on the fence about staying. • The farm is fantastic and Peggy is a fantastic host. We will definitely be back.

    Mark2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Peggy's place is sparkling clean and so well decorated and home like, I was able to relax and really unwind. I do not usually sleep well in hotels but slept very well in Peggy's place. It was close to many attractions and Shenandoah National Park, which was our main interest because our son works there. Thanks again for a great experience.

    Ernest2018-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a great stay. The space was very clean and had all of the essentials needed for the weekend. The property was beautiful as well. As others have said, there is no WiFi and service is poor (with Verizon) but we knew about that going in and had a great time unwinding without Internet. :) The property is an ideal spot for hiking and wine tours. Also, Peggy was very accommodating and we felt she went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Thank you!

  • Peggy was great about communicating with us prior to arrival, and met us as soon as we pulled in. Her property was beautiful and peaceful, as well as quiet! The apartment was clean and comfortable. She even left us some breakfast treats. A perfect little getaway!

  • Peggy was a great host. Her farm was beautiful. We had our own place above her garage. It was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Our favorite part was the awesome firefly display every night.

  • Awesome little house on a hill overlooking the valley. Nice balcony with a fantastic view, which a number of hummingbirds seem to appreciate as well, as they hang out with you while you're sipping your coffee in the morning. Very comfy home with all the amenities you would want, and a short drive to many vineyards.

    Marty2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely stay in a charming cabin on a mountainside near the north entrance to Shenandoah. Very quiet neighborhood, with excellent views of the valley below. Once the sunset light show is over, the firefly lightshow on the ground begins. I grilled out on the deck, didn鈥檛 touch the tv remote. Enjoyed an extremely peaceful and relaxing evening before awaking at dawn(another amazing view) and tackling the majestic Shenandoah mountain range. Definitely recommend if you need a perfect launching pad into the mountains. I just wish I had more time there. Thanks!

    Clare2019-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Barbara's cabin was perfect for us! The view off the little deck is fabulous and as everyone has mentioned, the hummingbirds are very fun. The furnishings are comfortable and she has thought of and provided everything that you might need. Barbara is an awesome host and was very responsive. The location of the cabin is great, and the drive up the mountain is easy, at least in the sumer. I can highly recommend this cabin for a fun little getaway!

  • Great place with a amazing view. Would recommend to anyone everyone!

    Sameer2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Barbara鈥檚 place is great as a holiday retreat or as gate way to Shenandoah NP. We got in just in time for sunset and the view from the patio is fantastic! Hummingbirds came frequently and fire flies abundant. I even saw one deer at night!!! Would definitely recommend Barbara鈥檚 listing.

Historic stone building with rustic charm. We are located in the heart of Linden. Easy access to Interstate 66. This private apartment is attached to a local farmers market. Open everyday, Mon-Sat 10-7, Sundays 10-5. Here we sell seasonal fruits and vegetables, as well as our fresh eggs & pasture raised meats from our farm! We also sell wine & cheese. We are surrounded by wineries and minutes away from the beautiful Appalachian Trail. We are 60 miles from D.C. & 10 miles to Front RoyaI.
Our beautiful stone home was built in 1929. Rustic charm. Perfect for mountain getaways, wine touring, ladies night and hikers! Neat tidbit: The bathroom and kitchen floors are total 70's & we love them! Handpoured by a gentleman who used to live here during that time, pretty cool! Our space definitely shows its age, but you will also find it welcoming, earthy, light and airy with a large kitchen.
In our front yard is a special historical monument that marks the discovery of the Shenandoah Valley. For those who love to hike and explore, we are one mile from the Appalachian Trail and minutes away from the GR Thompson Wildlife Preserve.
  • The Giving Tree was a wonderful place to stay. It is attached to a cute little market. The apartment was perfect for the two of us. Beds were comfortable, plenty of pillows and blankets. Hosts left snacks for us as well. Location is very close wineries and hiking trails. Hosts are happy to give recommendations for places to visit and eat. We would be happy to stay at The Giving Tree again.

    Tiffany2019-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Giving Tree was the perfect home away for us during graduation weekend. The home was clean, the hot plate and other appliances new, and the farmer鈥檚 market next door had some amazing goodies! Our host was thoughtful and accommodating.

  • The whole property is AWESOME. Super clean, and beyond what we expect with all the amenities listed. And most of all, Britanny is so impressive by being so thoughtful, to make sure we check-in smoothly, by giving detail infos. I could say, her hospitality till we check-out and meet up, make my stay unforgettable.

    Ricky2019-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • The Giving Tree just kept on giving! Excellent hosts, a clean and quiet space, and a farmers market just outside of the front door. The fresh fruits and vegetables were delicious. All of the little touches made it feel like a home away from home. It鈥檚 close to I-66 and a 15 minute drive to downtown Front Royal. Perfect for my needs. I hope the apartment is available when I come back this way again.

    Shelly2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Very responsive and hospitable. They even provided some farm fresh produce and extra snacks for the kids.

    Landon2019-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Giving Tree is a comfortable, quaint apartment lots of space. We loved the large kitchen with all the supplies needed to prepare a meal. We also loved all of the personal touches to the space like vintage decor, locally roasted coffee and pamphlets about local attractions. The hosts were great, preparing the space for us after short notice and sending us a message to make sure we settled in okay. They also left some yummy snacks and provided information about local wineries and places to eat. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and it was exactly what we needed for a place to rest along our road trip.

    Cecilia2019-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at The Giving Tree. The living space was comfortable and adorable. The hosts were friendly and accommodating and even left us some fresh fruits and vegetables in the kitchen for our stay. This is a perfect location for access to Shenandoah National Park and a very pretty portion of the Appalachian Trail.

    Catherine2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great location on our way to the north entrance of Shenandoah National Park. We arrived too late and left too early to meet our hosts, but we so appreciated the food they left for us from their farmer鈥檚 market! It was so handy to be able to have a fridge, sink, microwave, etc., as we were on a road trip. The walk down the road from the Giving Tree was delightful: train tracks, horse farm, entrance to the Appalachian Trail. A great spot!

  • Loved the charm and convenience of the property. The value was fantastic. It fit 5 adults without an issue. One thing I would like to see improved is the kitchen. The stove did not work so we couldn鈥檛 cook any meals. The kitchen is also in the basement, which is a bit odd but it worked fine for us. We had a great time and would definitely stay there again if in the area.

Nice bedroom with One King Bed (located on second floor) and couch. Clean and quiet. Want to stay at a hotel... why. Enjoy the comforts here, with a wonderful room, TV, Cable, and enjoyable relaxing environment. Home has two dogs and cat(s). You will see the dogs from time to time, you will rarely see the cats as they stay mainly in the master bedroom suite.
  • A very responsive host. Sharlyn contacted me a few hours after I reserved the room. She answered all my questions. A very smooth check in process. She welcomed and greeted me after a long day I spent in Shenandoah National Park. The entire house is extremely clean and well taken care of. She has a very lovely dog and I enjoyed my time playing with him. I had a great stay and would definitely try it again when staying in the same area.

  • The Little Blue Farmette is awesome! The screened-in patio was key for our stay (it rained) and the covered porch with the string lights was beautiful. It was the perfect venue for our group get-together. Giovanni and Cozette walked us through the check-in and everything was taken care of before we got there. We will keep this on our list of places to stay in!

Gas station and Dunkin are pretty close by and Shenandoah NP is a short ride as well. Giovanni was very prompt in responding to questions. I would definitely book this place again.

  • We needed a home away from home and we found it with the Little Blue Farmette! When traveling with two boys under 5, you don鈥檛 expect your visit to be relaxing but this home gave us plenty of room to rest and play. It was clean and easy to keep that way - even with toddlers! The decor is gorgeous and relaxing. There is plenty of space outside to relax or play. The beds were comfortable and the home is filled with delightful little touches that make you feel welcomed. Giovanni and Cozette were wonderful hosts. They provided lots of recommendations for things to do with littles in the area and were very responsive when we reached out. The Little Blue Farmette was our favorite part of our trip. Next time we visit our friends in this area, we will be back!

  • My wife and I stayed here for my birthday over the weekend. We were so happy with the place as soon as we arrived. The house feels even better in person than the pictures represent. I've read other reviewers say that the hosts have thought of everything, and that's absolutely true. They've done everything right. I've been in over 30 different hot tubs at various rentals and I can say that this house had the nicest one I've been in. The bed and furniture were comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked with implements and amenities. They have several other small things that you may have not even thought of, candles, binoculars, hiking sticks, flashlights. The hosts provided tons of very useful and incredibly organized information about the surrounding area and attractions, as well as details about the property. The location is very nice and feels rather secluded, especially at night. There's plenty things to do and see here to return for several trips. Our main point of attraction is Skyline Drive and Shenandoah, and this house is in a great location, not a far drive from the entrance to Shenandoah. We loved that the house had access to three mountain lakes. We only had time to see and get in deer lake, but we highly recommend it.

  • I had a great stay at Rainbow View. It is truly beautiful, with a newly renovated kitchen that overlooks the Shenandoah valley. The hot tub is impeccable, and you can see the valley from the hot tub. The neighborhood is rural, although other houses are close by, but the house feels private. The beds are simple but comfortable, as is the bath. The location is close to great hiking and only an hour or so from D.C. I will definitely come back.

    Whitney2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures are quite accurate and do not do justice. The place is very clean. The amenities are replete. There are many books, and lots of items for cooking. The bath tub is very refreshing. The hosts are very responsive.

  • This place is a great little getaway! It is kept very clean and well stocked. It鈥檚 tucked up in the hills, but it鈥檚 not far from main roads. The view was great, and the hot tub was so relaxing! It鈥檚 a terrific place to escape to and decompress from the DC area.

Sunsets from the hot tub were the winner. Lots of entertainment, games, and puzzle options, along with many guides on local events and things-to-do. The bottom line is that Chris and Steve care about your experience and it shows.

  • We were impressed with the cottage and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is beautiful. The spaces were spotlessly clean and appeared newly updated. Beds were very comfortable. The layout of the space worked perfectly for our family of 6. We did have a little trouble with the stove not turning on, but after calling the office and pushing the stove in a bit, it seemed to be a loose connection that was quickly resolved and worked fine after that. I think our only minor complaint is that it would be nice to have drinking glasses and coffee mugs. (Only styrofoam cups available.) Thank you for a wonderful 1st night of our mountain vacation.

  • We met Chris upon arriving at the property, he was very welcoming and even introduced us to the famous neighborhood deer Scooter! The Cabin was even more spectacular than the pictures and Chris & Steve make sure to provide everything you need in the Cabin. Everything we needed for the perfect weekend was provided, including the awesomely futuristic hot tub. We look forward to coming back to the Cabin again in the future. Wonderful experience.

  • Truly a fantastic choice- they had everything we needed for a great friends' reunion weekend. Gorgeous views and great spot.

  • This was an amazing way to spend the weekend. My buddies and I came here for a Bachelor Party weekend. The views are stunning and the cabin is equipped with almost everything you could need. Chris & Steve also provide a ton of information on local attractions and things to do. If you're looking for a quiet, secluded getaway on mountain, stay here.

  • Whether you are looking yourself inside for a couple of days, or just using this as a base of operations for exploring, this place has it all. Spectacular views of the valley in a secluded environment, a comfortable home with everything but food provided (note - there were snacks left out!), and close proximity to many trails, parks, and wineries all made this a special trip for my wife's birthday and a short family vacation.

    Michael2019-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is truly a magical place. Will definitely love to return. Wonderful!

    Willie2019-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • I booked Valley Vista on a whim. Spring break was coming up for my kids and I hadn't planned on doing anything. We normally book houses in the tidewater area and I thought staying near Shenandoah would be a nice change. Valley Vista truly has sweeping views of the valley and it's nice to watch the view change with the sun or the weather. A lot of time was spent on the lower level swings drinking coffee or wine and just taking in the view. Chris and Steve have thought of everything. Really. I read the previous reviews of what was at the house and still overpacked for "just in case". Need firewood, it's there. Need hot chocolate, popcorn or s'mores? Everything is there. Games for a rainy day or at night? They are there. Left your toothbrush or shampoo or soap at home? They have it. There are detailed directions everywhere, so there was no question of what to do when one of the breakers popped or how to operate the coffee machine or the hot tub. Definitely follow their directions to the house and not your GPS. The road can be a bit rocky the last bit of the way, but it made it more adventurous. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine and personalized note. The weather the first evening was the best and we made use of the charcoal grill and firepit and had a nice time relaxing and talking. The hot tub that night was a welcome treat, and we were able to see so many stars. The flip flops, towels and fluffy robes for the short walk to the hot tub were luxurious. There was a misty rain most of the next day followed by thunderstorms, but we still had fun hiking along the path around the property, playing games, watching a family of deer and unwinding. Watching the lightning that night over the valley was a beautiful sight. It was extremely windy our last day, but we made good use of it by visiting nearby Skyline Caverns - a must do and then taking a drive along Skyline drive and stopping here and there to enjoy the views. The recommendations to stop at Apple House for donuts and then The Giving Tree for produce were spot on. Chris and Steve have extensive recommendations for places to eat in the area, things to do, wineries, everything you can think of. We enjoyed ourselves and plan on going back during a nicer weather stretch so we can take advantage of more to do in the area. It's sometimes hard to find something that appeals to all of us (I have a 7yr old and an 18 yr old), but we all found a little nook in the house to relax or something to do that made the time for all of us very enjoyable. Thank you, Chris and Steve!

  • Everything was thoughtfully laid out for us. The townhouse was sparkling clean, and Brandy was very responsive to anything we needed. Great stay!

    Laurie2019-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • Though Brandy's place was for the most part clean and comfortable, we were disappointed to find that there were cobwebs and marks on the walls and ceiling. It needs a little work to be a five-star location. It's worth noting that the bathrooms and bedroom were especially clean. The complex where the townhouse was located is a bit run down but we never felt that it was unsafe

    Debra2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay! Brandy's place was perfect for our family of 5. A nice quiet neighborhood, minutes away from lots of fun things to do in Front Royal.

You'll have a fully furnished private bedroom (the "Opequon"), with a queen-sized bed, ample closet space, bureaus, and sitting areas.

  • I spent 8 days at John鈥檚 place while attending a demanding class. I found the place absolutely terrific for my needs. The location makes you feel like you are out in the country but you are very close to Winchester with all amenities. The highlight of the place is the historical authenticity of the 1850 mansion and particularly the second story covered porch which i enjoyed every day overlooking the pastoral scenery, the cardinals and goldfinches and the absolutely peaceful countryside. The place is decorated throughout with appropriate antique furnishings. It is a rare place, unspoiled authentic historic home, quiet, peaceful, beautiful setting with friendly and responsive hosts. Couldn鈥檛 recommend it higher.

  • This was the coolest trip I鈥檝e taken in a while! Staying in the trailer now makes me want one of my own. I will DEFINITELY be booking another stay soon, I really had a blast and the beds were super comfy with still the experience of being outdoors. If it gets too hot, there鈥檚 an AC and a fan, and it was kind of glamorous to camp with a working fridge/freezer.

  • It is a work of art! I love castles and I love camping! I鈥檇 like to point out the Super comfortable bed, major plus for me.

Our mountainside home is an architectural gem, bathed in light, with views of nature from every angle and floor. Sitting at the northern end of the Shenandoah range on 5 acres of meadows and trees, it is just 65 miles from downtown D.C. A swimming lake, the Appalachian trail, Virginia wineries, antique shops, restaurants, Skyline Drive, and Shenandoah National Park are all a short drive away. The property鈥檚 outdoor amenities (hot tub, hammock, and porches) will invite you to sit and relax.
Nicknamed "tower house" by the neighbors, this 1400 square foot home was designed by an architect from an award-winning Bethesda, MD firm. It offers an open floor plan and tree house aspects, with separate semi-private spaces to sleep and lounge. If you are a larger group, make sure all members are comfortable with the open flow. The entry level features a great room with living, dining and kitchen spaces. The main bedroom above looks out to the trees and has a curved loft-style railing and view of some of the floor below. The top-most floor has a sitting room/bedroom with desk and European-style (read: modern and efficient) bathroom. It also has a viewing room with extraordinary floor-to-ceiling views. Each of these two rooms has a sleeper sofa, and the viewing room has plenty of seating for your group and can be shut off for privacy on cooler nights. There are definitely spaces to which you can escape and hole away.
At the bottom of Zinn Way there is a 5 acre community fresh water lake with a dock and small beach (take a right out of the driveway and head downhill for a quarter mile - stay to your left). The water is clean and cool. It's for the residents of the homeowners association, and if you say you're guests of John and Yvette, who live in the Tower House at 213 Zinn Way, you'll be fine.
  • This house is really great. It's a unique space with a reason to spend time in every room. The view is gorgeous, the hot tub and hammock are relaxing. The yard is well maintained and perfect for a day outside. Everything was clean, instructions were clear. We had a great time.

  • John & Yvette鈥檚 house was a great family getaway! We were able to watch the lightning from a passing storm in the top room, very cool & watch the fog burn off every morning. Hanging out in the hot tub was fun and just being able to enjoy the quiet & nature around us was amazing. John & Yvette thought of everything you might need (or forget) for your stay to be comfortable.

  • Fantastic host and amazing destination! Epic views, deer friends, gorgeous unique house. Hot tub, hammock, fire-pit - all lovely. Perfect.

  • My husband and I went to John鈥檚 Tower House to take some time off and relax after a really busy season of life. We were struck by how homey the house was and joked about how it felt like we were staying with a friend and they would be back any moment. It was fun seeing so much wildlife, and we really weren鈥檛 prepared for how spectacular the view from the top floor was (even got to watch a storm up there). We appreciated the coffee shop suggestions so much and ended up at Happy Creek Coffee & Tea 3 times because of the delicious gluten free breakfast sandwiches. Overall and incredible stay in a stylish and well-kept house that clearly has a brilliant history. (: Don鈥檛 hesitate to book with John.

  • This place is amazing. We needed a quiet weekend escape from the city and the tower was perfect. From stunning views on the top floor to soaking in the hot tub, we couldn鈥檛 have been happier. Note: the spiral stairs are fun and plenty sturdy but will likely be difficult for anyone with limited mobility.

  • This house is a gem鈥攄on鈥檛 hesitate to book it! We were looking for an escape from the hectic pace of life in D.C. without having to travel too far and this property delivered. John is easy to communicate with and responds quickly to questions鈥攏ot that we had any. Check-in and check-out procedures are clearly defined and simple. The property is clean and has everything you need鈥攍inens, toiletries, a well-stocked kitchen. We ate breakfast and dinner in each day and ate lunch out. We hiked in the national park and visited Backroom Brewery and Front Royal Brewery. But most of the time we just stayed in, soaking in the hot tub and enjoying the views from every floor鈥攅specially the 4th floor viewing room. Thanks John鈥攚e hope to return, maybe to see that amazing top-floor view in the autumn!

  • Excellent space. Great place to get away from the city, with terrific views. House exactly as described. House manual was very comprehensive. Very close to DC so drive was relatively quick

  • A beautiful and peaceful space. Clean and felt like home - an easy space that lends to a relaxing vacation. Grill was a great option as well as Bluetooth system and hot tub.

Situated in the heart of Front Royal, the house is only minutes away from wineries, Skyline Drive, & the famous Shenandoah National Park and the Shenandoah River for fishing or floating. We are located one block off of Historic Main Street and downtown, within walking distance of antique stores, shopping, coffee shops and a movie theater. At the end of the day, relax on the wrap-around porch! My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families, or groups of all sizes!
The space is decorated in classic Victorian style to fit the charm and age of the home. All rooms have wide solid oak trim, gorgeous wainscoting and an abundance of architectural details appropriate to the home's era. Enjoy a bath in the vintage clawfoot tub! However, It has been updated with modern amenities, including a stunning gourmet fully furnished eat-in kitchen, large formal dining room, beautiful large yard, rear deck for grilling and wrap around covered porch for relaxing. We are only one block from historic downtown!!
Between locally owned Happy Creek Coffee shop and dining options, you are within walking distance to the town. Also, take a stroll through the neighborhood for wonderful evening walks after dinner.
  • My girlfriends and I have been doing annual weekend getaways for the last 20 years or so. We love touring wineries. Our stay in Front Royal at Kelley's home was wonderful. The house is gorgeous. We enjoyed evenings and mornings spent on the huge front porch. There are so many wineries in the area, so the location was very convenient. This was our first time using AirBnB and it was a very positive experience.

  • This is a very nice and well maintained old house in a very quite neighborhood. It is very close to a lot of restuarants, a great coffee shop, and shops. Be sure to check out the Beer Museum.

  • Kelley's lovely home is spacious and centrally located, just as advertised. We enjoyed hiking from the Front Royal entrance to the park and exploring town!

  • This house is so meticulously decorated we felt like we were in a true Victorian and in that time with the modern conveniences. Such comfortable beds & living room furniture too! Our first Airbnb & we'll never never stay in a hotel again!

  • This house is amazing! It is huge and full of personality!

  • Look no further and stay here.. Best place in Front Royal. There's most likely not a bigger better house for the money than 21 Blue Ridge. I'll be staying here again if I venture into Front Royal VA another time.

  • We had a great stay at Kelley's. The house is very well located - only about a 5 minute drive from Skyline drive, close to vineyards and local restaurants. It is very large, can easily accommodate big groups and has a lot of character. Kelley was easy to communicate with and check-in and check-out were very smooth/ The one thing I would note before booking is that although the house has 2 and a half bathrooms, only one of the bathrooms has a shower (the other has a tub without a shower). We were only four people so this wasn't really an issue when we were getting ready but with a larger group it may be a bit harder.

  • Very large Victorian with great location, walkable to Old Town Front Royal. Huge, modern kitchen and large rooms with lots of space. Overall a fantastic place!
