Comfortable, cute, cozy and fully separate eclectic studio apartment with queen-sized bed, dining/living area, kitchen with amenities (no full stove) & wifi. Located around the corner from the DC Convention Center and Shaw metro station. With amazing restaurants and bars within walking distance and proximity to great neighborhoods such as Chinatown and Logan Circle. You’ll be sure to enjoy your stay with us.
The studio apartment is in a super fun and vibrant part of the city with plenty of street traffic, pedestrians, and socialization. Therefore, no guarantee of zero noise pollution to peace and tranquility seekers. It's a basement unit and during the DC humidity there is a dehumidifier and air purifier that runs continually. The apartment would not be a good fit for those with allergies or noise sensitivities. You will get a great feel for the Shaw neighborhood by staying here. There are amazing restaurants, bars, bakeries, and coffee shops within feet of the apartment entrance. There is a large grocery store two blocks away. Please ask for recommendations - we are more than happy to point you in many great directions! The apartment is easily accessible by bus and metro -- you can get to any part of the city within minutes. If you prefer to walk or bike, notable spots like the National Mall and Smithsonian Museums are within a mile. Please note, parking is challenging in our part of DC. There's a helpful app called SpotHero that will list nearby parking spots and lots, along with their pricing. We have a strict No Smokers requirement. Absolutely no smoking or any other smoking-like-activities on or near the property. We take pride in keeping our property and by extension, our neighborhood clean. This is a strictly enforced policy and any violation will result in the stay getting cancelled without a refund and an additional charge for all the costs involved in remediation. If you absolutely have to smoke, please utilize the area across the street near the parking lot and be sure to clean up after yourselves.
Shaw is a fantastic area to be in. There are so many new, fun, and exciting nooks to explore (check out Blagden Alley). Easily walk-able to nearby Chinatown or 14th St. for more great food and drink explorations.
  • Comfy bed ... and that's saying a lot for a side-sleeper like me, with a bad shoulder, who always needs to buy mattress toppers wherever I go. But not here. Loved the neighborhood. Go left out the door and up a little ways to the bakery. On Friday nights you can get amazing pizza starting at 6pm. Fresh breads and pastries, flour milled there, including Einkorn wheat (ancient grain). Two grocery stores very close. The Union Kitchen grocery store (to the right, out the door) has excellent breakfast sandwiches. We also enjoyed Capital Burger, right by the convention center, which was also an easy walk for the conference we were attending. Timna was quick to respond with anything we needed. Cute place. Local places in chalk on the inside of the front door. They're trying to take care of an odor which seems to be coming from next door, because the studio is very clean. I hope they can contact local authorities to help with the situation. The neighbors next door are a lot of fun, always sitting outside with family and friends, talking and laughing, very friendly.

  • Very tidy and cozy AirBnb apartment equipped with everything you need. Ilissa is a great host and communicated all the details prior to checking in. This apartment is close to greats shops, restaurants and museums. We really enjoyed our stay!!

    Randi2018-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Neat studio, cozy with character in a diverse neighborhood. Fun area allows for getting away from the big hotels and into the heart of DC, yet not far from the convention center and easy access to the National Mall, monuments, etc. Illissa was incredibly helpful and hospitable, yet allowed us our space. There seemed to be underlying noise concerns from the area, but we didn't experience anything but friendly and social neighbors.

    Chad2018-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great time! Just be sure to bring towels!

    Mike2018-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • The location is wonderful and there are so many restaurants and tourist spots to visit within walking distance. However, the wet dog smell is overwhelming. The neighbors are incredibly noisy and disruptive. It was uncomfortable at times. Ilisa was great at responding to our questions. She's a great host, her place could just use some TLC.

    Kalene2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The location can't be beat. Near to amazing restaurants and public transportation. Be wary though if you have a dog allergy.

  • Vitalina's place is perfect for exploring central Washington DC. She was also very helpful and resonded very quickly. Recommended!

    Stephan2018-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Vitalina was very nice, hospitable, and quick to respond to messages. She offered us coffee/tea in the morning and set us up with a paid parking pass in the private lot behind the building, which was convenient. We had a very comfortable stay in a cozy and clean room.

    Reyna2018-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • The only thing I might caution other guests about is that the stairs to get up to the apartment might not be suitable for everybody. Otherwise, this is a great location-the yellow line takes you to/from DCA, most of the downtown area is walkable, and there are quite a few buses that go across town if none of the metros lines go where you need to go. The room was just as advertised-would definitely recommend if all you need is the basics. Some other guests seemed concerned about the bathroom, but it looked clean to me. Checking in was easy and overall I felt very welcome.

    Sharon2019-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Vitalina and her roommate were exceptionally friendly, accommodating, and hospitable. I came to their home while I was taking the bar exam and because of their encouragement and hospitality, I had a relatively stress-free two days. Thank you both! I highly recommend!

  • Vita's apartment is very nice and the location is good. Vita and her roommate are very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the place!

  • Location is fantastic or convention at nearby hotels. Note- You may share apartment with someone who also is renting a room. Place is a bit worn. Vita was excellent in getting back with me right away with questions

This unique apt in Logan Circle is literally blocks away from downtown dc. Is located in a very quiet building and at the same time close to exciting areas like U st, Dupont Circle, Chinatown, and Historic part of DC. There is Metro and bus access
Enjoy a very nice one bedroom apt and private bath in Logan Circle DC! between M and N streets NW. The apt is steps away from downtown dc, Massachusetts ave., New York Ave., Chinatown, Shaw U street, Dupont Circle and the historic part of DC.
  • The location is amazing, so if that's what you're looking for, you'll be very pleased. Parking downtown is hard to find, so the parking spot here is primo. Neighborhood is pretty, quiet, and nice. The actual apartment is noticeably older & worse for the wear than the pictures show, but it is still a fairly nice place. There is NO MICROWAVE, iron, or ironing board here, though there is a laundry machine & dryer. The wifi was out the first couple days of our visit, after which Mayra was able to get it going again. There is a TV, but it's not hooked up to anything. The downstairs bedroom has an air mattress and a very low ceiling. Upstairs loft is nice, and the sleigh bed is gorgeous, though it was a bit too soft for my back. Lovely natural light throughout, despite being a basement. The only bathroom is upstairs, and requires going through the upstairs bed area. The spiral staircase is very rickety and a bit difficult to maneuver, particularly for older folks. Both my father (senior) and boyfriend (not) slipped and hurt themselves, so NOT RECOMMENDED FOR OLDER FOLKS. Mayra seems lovely and helpful, and the apartment was very clean. Great for a young couple who have been together for a little while and want to get to know the city (maybe a short-term rental while looking for houses?).

    Kat2016-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Good location

    Will2019-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The location is superb! The stairs can be a little tricky and there wasn't an airbed or similar in the second room, meaning a large amount of space went unused. Kitchen was really useful, but lacked a microwave or toaster. Space is cozy and the bed in comfy. I'd bring an eye mask as the streetlight through the window is very bright. Had some really unfortunate pest problems that took longer than I would have hoped to resolve. I was there for three months and only two weeks were affected.

    Shaanan2018-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • The location was good, not too much going on on the street but easy walking distance to a lot of things including metro, 14th street and about 10 mins to grocery store. Communication between me and the host could have been a little quicker but not too bad. There were quite a few bugs in the apartment...not sure how/where they were getting in. Great air conditioning for the hot August weather!

    Kenna2016-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • If I could give a 0 for cleanliness I would. The only way I would guess the place had been cleaned was that the cleaning supplies were left out. We were pretty sure there is also bed bugs. To make the place bearable I bought my own sheets and towels. Sheets provided were stained and did not look clean. The bed itself was broken, with a huge dip in one side of the bed. The place was Infested with cockroaches and flies. It smelt horrible. The air filter was disgusting. Much more worn then the photos. Only reason we stayed was because of an internship and the difficulty with finding other housing options at that point. There is no way to remedy the cleanliness except by gutting it! Only problem with location was drug users shooting up on our porch. So if you dont mind drug users and a filthy place then you should be fine.

    Matthew2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • RATS. At first, this place seemed awesome. I arrived and it was clean and just the right amount of space for me during my travel assignment for work. Also, the location is amazing!!! However, after several months, I started to find rat droppings and pieces of banana bitten through. I notified the host, who stated she would get pest control out there. During the week that it took before pest control came, the drippings exponentially multiplied, I had physically seen the squirrel-sized rats TWICE, and the house smelled worse than anything I've ever smelled. I cleaned the droppings several times during the week, but couldn't keep up. The pest control guy walked in on a Thursday morning and his first words were "oh. My. God. This is awful." He left traps out, but had also mentioned that he has been servicing this place for a year now and that the problem has never resolved. He showed me where foam had been sprayed to essentially band-aid the bigger problem. However, it was just a ticking time bomb as to when they would chew through the foam. I also had been sick nearly the whole time living in this place, which I had assumed maybe I had developed allergies. I have never had allergies in my life, to which the pest control said I have likely been breathing in rat urine and poison this entire time. I worked Thursday night then came home Friday morning and saw that there was more droppings, especially by my dogs cage, and my dog had bites all over her. I put her in a hotel and left to see my family for the weekend and cancelled the rest of my reservation. The host called me after the complaint was filed through Airbnb stating that I was making it up and had no proof. She stated that it was "disturbing" to her that I would be doing this and now she is losing money, etc. Never once an apology for how awfully she maintained her property. I would never rent one of her properties again. P.S. I have not gotten sick and my dog's skin cleared up since moving out weeks ago. I would be happy to provide pictures to anyone inquiring.

  • Let me just start by saying u can’t beat the location convenience wise, most places I went were walkable or a short uber ride. It is a basement so pretty easy to track in dust but she has everything u need to keep the place tidy. This is my 2nd time staying here & I will def book it again in future trips to DC. Mayra was prompt when it came to responding to any of my concerns. The parking space is an added bonus but I had decent luck finding street parking in the area as well. would definitely recommend this place!

    Fyori2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great. More than enough space for one person or a couple. The kitchen has everything you need for basic cooking, and there's a washer and dryer too. The location was great for my purposes. It's a quiet residential area, but just a short walk from the heart of downtown. This apartment is about a ten minute walk from the Mt. Vernon Square station and 15 to Metro Center. I could get wherever I needed to get all over the city in just half an hour. No problems with check-in and check-out. I never met Mayra in person, but she was very helpful over email.

  • The flat is great - neat and tidy, with all the necessary amenities. I stayed there for 10 days and I felt perfectly at home. The location is fantastic - safe area, close to shops and restaurants (5-10 min walk, depending what you want), with nearest Metro station about 10 min walk away. Great communication with the host, although we didn't even meet in person - there was no need, everything was arranged smoothly. I definitely recommend staying at Mayra's!

    Karolina2017-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • Mayra's place has a terrific location! She is highly responsive and her apartment has everything you need to spend a nice time in one of DC's finest neighborhoods.

  • Mayra was a wonderful host. We didn't get to meet her in person but she kept an open communication with us before and during our trip. Check in/out was very easy and she was very flexible with the time. Her place looks exactly like the pictures! It was very clean and organized. Logan circle is a great location. We walked to the national mall, u-street, dupont circle, and downtown easily during our trip.

  • Checking in and out were very easy, and Mayra was very responsive and quick to reply. The location was very convenient and just a 15 minute walk or short Uber to everything. The size is perfect for two people (more would be tight).

    Khandyce2017-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a good value for the area, but it is a bit dark, being a basement apartment. The bedroom gets morning sun, but the living area never gets any sunlight. Could be depressing for longer stays if you spend a lot of time inside! The neighborhood is wonderful though.

    Anthony2017-09-30T00:00:00Z

Overall, extremely affordable and pleasant apartment to stay in. I would highly recommend it to others.

  • The apartment is located in a nice neighborhood, just a few blocks from the Metro and a 30 minutes walk from the Capitol. It also is pretty easy to get there from Union Station. Everything was clean, and every room (including the bathroom) was spacious. You can use the kitchen, that has everything you need to cook. There is also a TV in the living room, and you can do your laundry. The internet connection was great, and my roommates were both friendly and respectful. Morgan is a great host! He is very communicative and is always available. I totally recommend staying at his place.

  • It was a really good place, at first, it was near from union station that megabus arrived from NewYork. At the second, morgan replyed from my answers very fast and he was so kind. I was very satisfied with this place!

    Bang2017-12-24T00:00:00Z

My apartment is a small, older studio located in the heart of downtown Washington, D.C. Just a 15-minute walk to the famous National Mall, the studio is located in D.C.'s Shaw neighborhood, flooded with restaurants, bars, coffee shops and more. There really is no better location in D.C. The apartment is small but it is extremely functional. There is no kitchen to cook meals but I will be happy to provide coffee/tea. There is no parking on the premise but street parking is available.
There is no kitchen but I will always provide coffee/tea and light snacks. I have a 75 inch TV, with an Amazon Firestick that you will have access to if you need to relax. The bathroom is big and has all the necessities (shower, sink, toilet, etc.) and I will provide towels, toilet paper, and basic shower toiletries. I have a work desk you can use for your needs and drawers and a closet for your belongings. An ironing machine and iron board are also available
The studio is located in the center of downtown Washington, D.C. in the Shaw neighborhood. It is a 15 minute walk to the National Mall and all Smithsonian Museums. Three blocks away in D.C.'s famous 14th St. that is full of amazing restaurants, bars, clubs, coffee shops, shopping, everything! My favorite restaurant there is Ghibellina - a small, cozy Italian restaurant with an adorable windowsill bar. In addition, two blocks away is D.C.'s famous City Center - a beautiful retail destination that takes up three blocks. I recommend Centrolina in City Center - a coffee shop by day and restaurant by night!
  • Nice, cozy place in a great neighborhood.

  • Gemma Rocks!! Great location, clean, easy to get everywhere we wanted to go in DC. One Blick away from Capitol bike share kiosk & always Uber /Lyft close by. Gemma is a Very responsive and accommodating host - incoming flight was delayed 6 hours so our arrival was very late- lockbox set up worked great. Fantastic coffee place in Alley behind. Safe convenient location.

    Jake2018-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in Washington at Gemma’s place. The apartment was just as expected and Gemma even prepared a little welcome basket for us with relevant information, snacks, and two tickets for the metro! Check in and out was super easy. I can highly recommend this accommodation!

    Cora2019-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Gemma’s place was just the respite I needed on a busy trip. Cute, super clean, good location and there was even a washer/dryer. Thoughtful small items stocked in the bathroom and kitchen. Gemma was super nice, made sure I got checked in okay and let me leave my suitcase until it was time for my train. Also this place is steps from La Colombe, the best coffeeshop in DC. Highly recommend.

  • A welcoming and comfortable apartment. Self contained but close to cafes and restaurants. Walk to the National Mall and Smithsonian. We really loved our stay in Washington, thanks Gemma

    Kelly2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • I recently spent three nights in Gemma’s wonderful apartment. Gemma is incredibly responsive, flexible, and keeps the apartment clean and welcoming, and full of so many thoughtful touches. The apartment itself is centrally located and well served by transportation. I was able to walk to the national mall or catch a quick bus. Metro is an easy option as well. I felt very safe there as a solo female traveler. The living room faces south and has rather large windows and more light than I expected from a basement. The shower was hot and had lots of pressure, and the bed was very comfortable. Overall, a perfect stay.

    Amber Elaine2018-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Super nice place and very accommodating. Great value and an amazing location. Beats a hotel by miles. Gemma was also very nice and left us snacks and wine.

The Shaw neighborhood is in the midst of a boom with new restaurants, bars, and shops opening everyday. There are several outstanding restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops within a block of the apartment and there is a large supermarket just 2 blocks away.
  • Excellent location in a very new and clean building. Heating was perfect during the cold night we were there and adjustable as needed.

  • The apartment is very comfortable, spacious, perfect for a couple visiting D.C. for awhile. The location is also outstanding, with lots of restaurants, bars, and shops nearby. We enjoyed the local Ethiopian restaurant and while the local Georgian restaurant wasn't as good, it was still nice to have it (and other restaurants) so close by. The local bakery, abakedjoint, about 1/2 mile away, was also outstanding. We had breakfast there both days we stayed. Loved it.

  • We loved our stay at this apartment. The location and building amenities were great. Access was very easy and the surrounding area was close to restaurants, a grocery store , and other shopping. Also, it’s a terrific perk to have a parking garage in the building. The apartment itself was spacious, well-stocked with everything one needs, and had a comfy mattress. We liked this rental so much that we’re returning and renting a larger unit in the same building! Thanks Team Cali and staff, for your responsiveness and gracious hosting.

    Marian2019-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We loved team cali’s space it was very spacious and modern. The location is excellent close walk to the main town. Delicious cake shop in the street below! Team Cali were great at responding in a timely manner. We would definitely stay there again.

  • Super kind and responsive host. thank you! Would definitely stay again!

    Juan2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed in their apartment because the hotel that hosted my conference was full. I tried Team Cali’s apartment because it was close. The pricing was the same as what the high end hotels charge. The apartment was in a great location for my business trip and there was plenty of space. However, they did not provide enough shower soap for my 3 day stay. When I requested more, they said they would see if housekeeping could get me some. Housekeeping did not get me any and I was never contacted by them. This place is an apartment and they have no one on location. There was also a strange oder coming from the bathroom pipes. It wasn’t terribly strong but lingered the whole time I was there. Upon checkout they request that you start a load of laundry in their machine. I though that was unusual, but when I did it, I was surprised to find a load the machine from the previous guest. Besides these two minor surprises the location was great and the bed was comfortable.

  • Amazing place! My boyfriend and I spent a few days exploring DC and the proximity to the metro makes getting around the city very convenient! The included parking was great as we drove to DC - we didn't need the car the entirety of our stay. Instructions are clear and concise, and tons of local tips on where to eat/visit. Tons of restaurants nearby and a really cute bakery! Would definitely stay again and worth the value!

Walkable to Verizon Center events. Early drop off of bags is allowed, as well as option to store bags after checkout. Parking is free, and the house does have a smart TV with Netflix.

Hardwood floors & front load washer and dryer. Chinatown nightlife area is close with great restaurants. Full-size bed, private room. On-street parking with visitor permit to save those expensive DC parking charges.
Safe and quiet neighborhood. Safeway supermarket is 2.5 blocks away and is open 24 hours for groceries. (5th and L Street NW). 490 L St NW
  • I can assure this place is exactly as described! Everything went smoothly during my stay at Donna's. The room suited my needs perfectly but what I liked the most is it is so conveniently located within central DC (the metro is just 2 blocks away, there are two big grocery shops within walking distance and it's pretty close to DC main tourist's attraction and nightlife neighborhoods. 5/5 would recommend!

  • The house is very well equipped, but the lock of the bathroom door needs a small repair. I wasn't able to lock it. Room #1 is small but has everything we need. And don't forget to wash the towels at the end.

Just 1.5 blocks from the Shaw/Howard U. Metro, this modern English basement apt. with gas fireplace & high ceilings is a walkable spot to a gourmet grocery store, bars, restaurants, the Convention Center, and Chinatown. The home has exposed brick, Bosch appliances, heated bathroom floor--just 5 metro stops to the White House, the Mall and museums. The Shaw neighborhood is vibrant, constantly changing and full of diversity and young people. A great value with an experienced & DC-licensed host!
You won't feel like you're in an English basement! Cozy up by the fireplace in the winter and enjoy the cool pad in the summer. Since this is a basement, please note my disclosures below in "other things to note." I personally refurbished this 140-year-old property with one of D.C.'s hottest architects. You can trust that I have taken great care to provide you with fine amenities and attention to detail. This 625 sq. ft. apartment is very comfortable for four people, with two in the bedroom and two others could sleep on the pull-out, queen-sized sofa. There are also 2 single Aerobed blow-up mattresses. If you are traveling as a family, I would consider more than 4 people, but it would be tight. If you need just one night's stay, contact me and we can work something out. I've priced the apartment very competitively using the variable rates AirBnB suggests, based on the time of year. The actual daily cost may be higher or lower than the standard daily rate advertised, but you will always feel like you're getting your money's worth compared to any hotel in DC. If you've used AirBnB before, you know you have to lower expectations just a bit as a budget-conscious traveler (but not too much with this apartment). I also tend to book up fast during peak seasons. Any dates that are grayed out on the calendar you see are booked by other guests. This apartment is a dedicated rental, 365 days a year. I can almost always allow guests to drop their bags after 12:00 noon, but the maid will need a 2-hour window to clean, which can be as late as 5 p.m.
Shaw is the hottest neighborhood in DC right now. There's a great city vibe with nearby bars and restaurants, including a great beer garden 1.5 blocks away. A new gourmet grocery store is only 4 blocks away--a nice stroll through the historic Shaw neighborhood. The colorful row houses were all built at the turn-of-the-century--a classic feature of D.C. Two take-outs are across the street: Chinese and Mediterranean/Indian will do in a pinch, and a 24-hour 7-11 is a block away.

  • Alan is an excellent host ! He made sure that I knew how to get to the beautiful apartment and his cleaning lady was there when I arrived a little early so I could leave my bags while out exploring the neighborhood. The apartment is absolutely lovely - everything top notch and the bed was super comfortable. He was always easy to contact and came by so we could meet which I really appreciate with an Airbnb host. He answered all of my questions and had wonderful recommendations for me which made the trip even better.

  • Great space at a great price. Conveniently located by Papa Johns for easy Uber pick ups. Super clean and lots of thoughtful touches—we loved the dispenser in the shower for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Also loved that there was an air mattress so the 3 of us each had our own beds. Pamela was incredibly responsive to messages and super helpful.

    Kerry2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location near a lot of attractions. Unfortunately the key box didn't work so I was stuck for about an hour waiting. Pamela rushed over and got me taken care of but she was quite a distance from me so it took awhile to get in. Other than that I enjoyed my stay in this unit.

    Ryan2019-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Pam's place deserves the good reviews. It was nicely decorated and generally clean. My only suggestion is to do a deep cleaning. Surfaces, rugs and floors were clean. But screens, radiators, AC filters, window sills, and corners in the bathroom and kitchen could use a good cleaning. This is an easy issue to fix. Hopefully this will prompt it and future renters will find it sparklingly clean. Overall, I was happy with the apt.

Enter the apartment from the private alley entrance through a modernist, plant-filled porch that surrounds the apartment - offering peace and quiet in the city. The apartment is in the U Street corridor, with dozens of great restaurants, bars, and music venues and clubs. You'll be a five-minute walk (really) from the U Street metro stop (green line) and bus lines serving downtown, Georgetown, Union Station and more. We're also near several Capital Bikeshare stations, and many other car, bike, and scooter sharing services are in the neighborhood.
  • This is a great place to stay in Washington DC. The location is fantastic, 5 min walk to the Metro which will get you downtown near all the sights really quick. Many bars/restaurants nearby (Big Bear is a good cafe - recommended by Nazgol, thanks). Apartment is bigger than it looks on the photos and in a friendly neighbourhood. Bathroom is the highlight of the apartment, lovely and modern. Nazgol was very kind and quick to respond to every query we had (and over 6 weeks we had quite a lot!).

  • Absolutely nothing to complain about.we received all important information in advance. What we found was a totally new, carefully designed appartement with a top kitchen and modern bathroom. The bedsofa was cozy and comfortable. Altogether it was a great stay in a well renovated, absolutely clean appartement surrounded by one of the most vibrand quarters of D.C..Nazgol was a lovely host always available to answer any questions. We would always recommend it!

    Julia2015-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Nazgol provided a detailed guide on how to reach and access the studio. Everything was flawless and very clean and as described. The apartment is small but has everything you need. It has a pull-out sofa for a bed which I only used as a bed which leaves little space for anything else but for me this was not a problem whatsoever. The neighborhood is quiet and feels safe.

    Michael2015-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully renovated studio with all the amenities in a terrific neighborhood, great hosts

    Claire2017-12-23T00:00:00Z

My house is located in the Shaw Neighborhood, better known as the heart of Washington, DC. I LOVE MY LOCATION. Surrounded by an assortment of restaurants, pubs, cafes, a beer garden, coffee-houses, carry-outs, & if you want to cook your own meals the grocery store is in the next block. Yet, with all this activity the neighborhood is well-lit, safe and relatively quiet on a metropolitan street. I have easy access to everything including, public transportation (trains, buses & planes).
There are no separate bedrooms, like most studios, it is one large clean room with amazing flooring, a queen size bed, several pillows, clean linen, extra blanket, a large closet with shelves for your things, an iron & full-size ironing board, a comfortable chair & ottoman to read or watch TV on a 40" adjustable HD TV with cable/streaming ability or sign-in to your own Netflix account, a workspace for a laptop, Wi-Fi, a small, yet, full kitchen, with new stainless steel appliances, pots & pans, dishes & silverware, a washer & dryer and a mid-size refrigerator, a clean bathroom with a spacious shower, no tub, clean towels, soap & small cups for mouth wash. The entire space is separate from the rest of the house, comfortable for no more than 2, GREAT for one. ONE OR TWO OCCUPANTS ONLY PLEASE.
Shaw is submerged in African-American History, named after the Civil War Colonel Robert Gould Shaw who was an American soldier in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He led the first all-black regiment. The neighborhood Shaw grew out of a freed slave military camp. Duke Ellington was born and lived in Shaw. The U Street Corridor became known as the “Black Broadway”. Big name stars played at nearby theaters that are still standing like the Howard Theater where Marvin Gaye played and many well-known performers. The six days of riots that erupted in Washington, D.C., following the assassination of civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. on April 4, 1968, leaving 7th Street & the U Street corridor in ruins. The U Street corridor did not begin to recover economically until the opening of the U Street and Columbia Heights Metro stations in 1991 and 1999. Slowly, DC started changing from a widely held African American City to the current redevelop, flourishing, revitalize Shaw. There is an adage that says, “Change is inevitable Growth is optional”. Today, the Shaw neighborhood’s row houses remain, including the attractive Victorian houses, tucked amid the in vogue places currently on the scene.
  • Jackie made our stay very simple and nice. We did not get to meet her until we were leaving but she was very responsive and easy to contact via direct message during the long weekend we that my husband and I were there. The apartment was spotless, comfortable, and well appointed. The neighborhood is nice and walking distance to many lovely eateries and bars. It's a 15 - 30 minute walk to get to all the best attractions in town. I would recommend Jackie's place without reservation and I hope to return soon.

    Joi2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Jackie’s Place was a great little getaway for my boyfriend and I. Good size for 1 or 2. Felt very safe and secure, the National Mall was about a 40 minute walk with many small stores and restaurants on the way. Highly recommend!

  • This little gem could not have been more perfect for my stay in DC: • Within easy walking distance of everything (Convention center, monuments, restaurants, grocery stores, public transit, etc) • Safe neighborhood and super clean apartment with more amenities than I could possibly use in a three day stay • Attentive hostess who is incredibly intelligent and well versed Thanks to Jackie, I traveled to DC for work and left with new friends. What a fabulous experience!

  • Immaculate studio with all the necessities to make your stay in DC convenient. Ideal for a couple. New kitchen, area guide and a real neighborhood feel.

    Elissa2019-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and quiet neighborhood, easy access to the DC area, the studio was very clean and she provided great amenties. I would highly recommend if you are staying in the DC area.

  • What a fantastic place to stay! A newly rennovated studio, basement but with a nice window and separate entrance, large and comfortable and incredibly well-appointed - great kitchen, washer/dryer, bathroom with a huge shower, big tv. The kitchen is well-equipped, with all the little things you need and more - all sorts of thoughtful touches. The neighbourhood is fantastic, with cafes, restaurants and bars all a few minutes walk away; a grocery store at the end of the street; and a metro station just around the corner. But we walked most places - just half an hour walk to Dupont Circle and the Mall, a bit longer to Georgetown, and all felt really safe and comfortable. Jackie was a great host - responded quickly to questions and was really quick to sort out any little things we needed (we were her first guests!). Also, she is warm and friendly and has lived in Shaw for 30 years - she clearly loves her neighbourhood and is passionate about the community. I can't recommend this place highly enough!!

    Jane2018-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot say enough good things about Hart's Studio! My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights and the studio was very clean and comfortable. We loved the location, the neighborhood, the proximity to the Metro station (only a 5 minute walk), restaurants, and a nice grocery store. We were gone sight seeing during much of our stay and finally got to meet Jackie on the last day. She is such a delightful woman, with a wealth of history and information. I hope we will be able to come to DC again sometime and we would definitely like to stay at Hart's Studio.

  • This was a great place to stay and enjoy seeing the DC area. The location was really perfect, a great neighborhood near Metro and Buses. Easy walking into the downtown area. The studio was very comfortable with all we needed as a couple to be comfortable, prepare a couple meals and plan our day trips around. Some great restaurants (Chaplin's) and Trader Joes nearby. We could Metro from the airport (DCA) to within 2 blocks. Jackie is available if needed. Would highly recommend this and we will be back when next in DC.

  • If you are looking for a place close to all the action, this is the place to be! It was in reasonable walking distance to amazing restaurants and stores; very warm and welcoming space in a great neighborhood. It is honestly the best airbnb for first time travelers to the DC area.

    Simone2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best experiences in AirBnB. Cosy and beautiful place. Great location and easy check in.

    Alejandra2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Charming brownstone on P & 11th...a half-dozen blocks NW of the convention center. My stay was quite quiet, place was very clean. Modern furnishings in a century-old structure. The place has all the essentials, but not much else. I don't use extra touches, so my stay was pleasant. If you are high maintenance or expect 5-star, you might not be happy. If you want a simple place to crash, it's wonderful.

    Matthew2019-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay! This location is a wonderful blend of old and new features and amenities. Located just two Metro stops from the Archives, with great local shopping and restaurants. When the water unexpectedly went out due to a broken pipe during a nearby city project, both Lee and Sofia sprang into action to make sure our immediate water needs were taken care of and contact the water company to arrange quick repairs. Terrific hosts and awesome Washington DC location!

Stay with us in the basement level of a charming townhouse in the heart of DC’s Shaw neighborhood, a quick stroll to Shaw Metro stop, plus you’ll have access to our visitor parking pass for FREE on street parking for the duration of your stay!
The unit has its own private entrance, a queen sized bed, full bathroom, cable TV and internet, and a refrigerator - just like a hotel room. Whilst we don`t have a couch per se the bed is super comfy to relax and watch TV after a hard day sight seeing or working. No need for a kitchen since you are a quick walk from some of DC’s most amazing bars and restaurants.
The location is the epicenter of DC’s music and dining scene, always the place to be seen in D.C! Walk up 7th st and catch a wide range of music shows at the historic Howard Theater, or a few more blocks to the famous “9:30 Club”.  A short distance in either direction takes you to the Right Proper Brew Pub, the Shaw Tavern, Bistro Boehm, Shaw Library and a bucketful of coffee houses, fitness centers and “pop-up” eating and entertainment venues.  A few more blocks brings you the U Street Corridor and 14th St, just minutes away on foot from all the fabulous restaurants bars and shopping that this hip neighborhood has to offer. Grocery stores, pharmacy and every other essential are just a few minutes’ walk from the home.
  • This is a charming basement apartment. Bed is super comfortable. Newly and smartly furnished. In its essence a great, simple, crash pad with nice design touches and a great location to the convention center. Unfortunately there is a ton of sound leakage from the house above. I could hear every footstep and word spoken, it really sounded like I was in the room upstairs. Luckily the upstairs occupants were pretty quiet for most of my stay. Also, not to the fault of the owner, but the mosquito population is intense near the entry way to the apartment. Overall I enjoyed the stay.

  • Very sweet and excellent hosts, I would recommend this as a solid place to stay anytime one visits DC

    Corey2018-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed my stay at Diana's. The location is great. It's easy to grab the metro from Reagan if you're flying in and you can easily walk, metro, or Lyft (car or scooter) to all the major attractions. The bed is amazingly comfy! The mattress is firm yet cushy and the sheets are so soft. Diana was responsive and flexible with my flight schedule, which I appreciated.

    Katie2019-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • The place was nice, well situated, clean, and easy to find. Checking in and out was also very straightforward. Would definitely recommend, great host!

    William2018-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is the cutest place! Very well decorated and homey, two blocks from metro, and in a nice walkable neighborhood. Diana was very flexible and helpful and responded to communication very quickly. I would definitely stay here again!

  • This apartment is perfect for a visit to DC. Close to metro stops, the convention center, and within walking distance to the National Mall. Plenty to do and see around the area. Diana also was a great host and very accommodating!

    David2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Diana's place was very comfortable had all the basic necessities. Diana, herself, was very helpful throughout the process - helped with checkin, had maps/recommendations, metro passes, and a parking permit. The location is a bit farther from the main attractions, but an easy uber ride (~$10) from everything.

    Tania2018-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Diana’s place. The location was perfect for a weekend sightseeing in DC, the metro is very close and we even walked to the White House from the apartment in about 20 minutes. The apartment is really comfortable and clean. Shower was great and there was lovely coffee to start our day! The guide books left out for us were really helpful.

    Bronagh2018-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Diana's place was perfect for our weekend in DC. The apartment was very cute, comfortable and conveniently located just a short (20 min or so) walk to the White House. We are unfortunately light sleepers so the cars going by on the busy-ish street nearby kept us up a bit but this might not be a problem for others. I would recommend Diana's apartment.

Right in the heart of DC, a corner house with a convenient store under it (first floor). Near Washington DC convention center, Capital Arena, White house, National Mall and others. I welcome you to my house and can be reached via phone and i also lives there so feel free to reach out if you need something.
You will love how everything is within a walking distance!
The White house and all of the museums are near by, coffee shops and a block away. I can answer any question you have if it is your first time in DC.
  • Mohammed was an excellent host who communicated with us very quickly. The location was clean and the D.C. National Mall area was just a little over a walkable mile away. There is only one bathroom that is shared between all guests but as long as you plan for that, it is fine. I would stay here again!

    Libby2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Mohammed was very responsive and helpful. The place is well located.

    Georgios2019-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect spot, close to things. And Mohammed was quick to respond to everything but gave us our space.

    Sarah2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Mohammed's place alone a few days to do research at the Library of Congress. It was a short walk to public transportation and groceries. My private room was clean, as were the kitchen and bathroom (shared spaces). Mohammed was thoughtful and communicative. Would recommend.

    Gustave2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Very quick responses, always ready to help, carried out suitcases to different room. Excellent customer services and a comfortable place to stay.

    Michael2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • This location was perfect for the conference I attended at the Convention Center. The walk was less than 10 minutes. Their is a convenient store very close and a Safeway, Chipotle and several other restaurants a couple of blocks from the place (5 minute walk). The rooms were clean, the kitchen was great and the check-in/check-out process a breeze. I will definitely plan to stay with Mohammed on my return trips to DC.

    Scot2019-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Mohammed was a great, communicative host with a beautifully renovated second floor space. 3 units share the floor and share a full kitchen and bath. Our two room unit #1 was located by the entrance and stairs which thus had some noise, but we plus was having kitchen and bathroom separating us from the other guests in the two other units which are next to each other on the other end of the floor. (If anyone needs to be VERY close to the bathroom they may like the other units better). We were really impressed with the newly renovated space and comfy new beds. The whole place was spotless and had a kitchen I envied, and was so convenient to store or make food. Appreciated the ironing set up in the hall. Location was easy walk to breakfast and dinner places and a short ride to downtown. Deli downstairs. Nice neighborhood we felt comfortable walking around in. This larger unit was perfect set up for my friend and I, with two beds in two separate rooms. Definitely recommend!

    Jane2019-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • The place was exactly as described and pictured. Very clean and Mohammed messaged every morning asking if he got help with anything. Great host, would definitely recommend.

  • You really can't beat the location of this place. Being able to leave your car there and not have to worry about expensive garages made traveling a lot easier. The room is comfortable and the amenities were good. This spot is perfect for the traveler who needs a place to crash at night.

    Chloe2018-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Very good location. The place is very neat and having a coffee machine (instead of perculator) made a difference. We didn't use the kitchen but looked well kitted out. The bed was comfy, but the room is small and for a longer stay it may get cramped if you don't want to share the communial areas.

    Marie-Louise2019-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The townhouse, on quiet and nice side street, but within walking distance from the center/Mall, has two upstairs bedrooms, accessible via a narrow staircase, which are rented out together or separately (separately in my case). The house is clean, and so was my room. The bed was large, comfortable and had nice bed linens. There is a downstairs living room with a TV for who wants it, and a shared kitchen and small bathroom with a shower, sink and WC. (It could get tight if two unrelated parties need the bathroom at the same time, but that wasn't the case with the other guest.) Communication with Donna was by email/app and cell phone, prompt and pleasant; the hosts don't seem to live in the house. Be aware that you are expected to strip the bed linens before checking out and put them and your towels into the washer and turn it on, or you will incur an extra cleaning fee. I didn't find this an inconvenience, but budget the extra 5-10 minutes for this if you're checking out in a hurry. Recommended!

  • I recently stayed in Team Cali’s apartment. It’s in a beautiful building with an open air courtyard. I had some trouble finding the place as the entrance to the building is actually on the cross street (9th Street). The key sometimes stuck and my ambidexterity proved helpful in trying to turn the key, jiggle the lock , and grab the handle to open the door. About two blocks away is a Metro station and from there you can go explore anywhere in the city. There’s also a grocery store right on the corner which was handy.

  • Had a quick trip here for work, everything was smooth and clean when we arrived, thanks for the stay!

    Jeff2018-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • The location is fantastic, but there were several issues with the apartment. 1. Cleanliness was an issue as there was hair from previous occupants all over the place, and the shower had a lot of grout. 2. The bathroom has no counter around the sink, so no place to place toiletries. 3. The oven was working, but the broiler was not. 4. Apartment has loose floorboards. 5. The lighting in the apartment is dim/low. Bathroom has one light with 2 bulbs, and one was fused. Took them 5 days to replace it. 6. Toilet roll holder is tilted as if the roll would fall off. 7. The bedroom is on top of the rear entrance of the restaurant below, so it gets loud at nights on the weekends. 8. Bedroom has no curtains or drapes, which makes it very bright at night as the shades don't block off enough light. Overall, the apartment is in a state of neglect and although the owners are responsive enough, there wasn't much that they could do other than the standard responses. We chose the apartment due to the location, and that was fantastic, but other than that, it made the trip frustrating.

    Julian2018-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • The size of the apartment was decent. It was clean except for the walls were dirty. Apartment was adequately maintained except for the the toilet paper holder, which was loose. There is no parking on site, but we parked at the Cambria hotel as suggested by the host and we had no issues. The location was great. The on-site staff was very friendly. There was a Christian book on the coffee table, which I thought was a little inappropriate. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

  • This apartment is lovely and very well located. I didn’t stay long enough to enjoy all the amenities (kitchen, laundry...) but everything looked great! The host was nice and always very responsive. I highly recommend this place!

  • We had to stay here for work and this place was a great home base for us! Everything was clean and easy, thanks for the stay!

    Richard2018-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Air conditioning stopped working in the middle of our stay and maintenance was not able to fix it and we were without air conditioning for the last 2 days of our stay at the place. Otherwise location is great and place was clean , we wish we did not have to go though the misery of being without air conditioning for the last 2 days

    Saqib2018-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, spacious apartment. Close to the public transportation system. Quick responses from the host during my stay.

  • We absolutely loved our stay in Sofia & Lee’s townhouse in an elegant & historic part of this beautiful city. Things were sparkling clean & every last thing was attended to, to provide a comfortable and convenient stay. Just be prepared for carrying your luggage up some narrow stairs to either the 2nd or 3rd level, as you may expect from a townhouse of this period.

  • VERY NICE the interior is so well decorated and you really get a fancy vibe! Great location, was perfect to stop by during the day to recharge then go back out to explore!

  • Really nice location, very cute place to stay. We lived the patio behind and the cleanliness of the place. Lee was incredibly polite and let us check out and leave our bags till the evening. And even use the shower. Hope to go back to DC and enjoy the city by staying at this great location.

  • While it is already listed.. the only tricky part of the stay was getting luggage up and down the stairs. For anybody with lots of luggage... it looks like there is an apartment downstairs that might be easier to get in and out of. 🙂 And the cleaning lady was so sweet! I am embarrased I didn't catch her name, but please give her my regards! 🙂

  • Ben place was in a perfect location for us. We were able to walk to and from our conference thru a lovely neighborhood. Extra nice was being able to get away from the hotel for a few hours after long days. Thanks Ben!

Decompress from your business travel in a stylish home that combines convenience with a cozy residential neighborhood. This 1800s retreat retains a great deal of historic charm, with feature fireplaces, sash windows, and hardwood floors. The location is perfect for conferences at the convention center, Marriott Marquis, or other downtown office buildings.
This rental is for one private bedroom (full size bed) and bathroom (not en suite but down the hall). Both the room and bathroom are on the 2nd floor of the house. You are welcome to use the common areas while staying here including the living room and kitchen.
The home has the best of both worlds: convenience to the convention center and downtown, yet the tranquil surroundings of a residential area (Logan Circle/Shaw) with great coffee shops, bakeries, bars, and restaurants just a block away.
  • I stayed with Nick and Shelly during my attendance at a conference. They were great at answering questions I had an communication in general. This was my first Airbnb and they made me feel more than welcome. I felt like I was staying at a friends house. Check in and out was super easy. The room exceeded my expectations with great attention to the little details like the water and snack treats they left for me. I had a private bathroom for my stay, which was clean and had the little amenities like shampoo and soap. Thanks for being such great hosts Nick and Shelly.

    Carlos2017-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Shelley was a great communicator and very accommodating. She kept in contact before and while we were there. Made sure we were comfortable and was very knowledgeable about food dining and the attractions in the area. She made us feel at home and even invited us to eat with them. Nick was also very friendly and welcoming.

  • Super clean! They were very thoughtful they even put toothbrush and toothpaste for their guests

    Azin2019-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was fine and as advertised. They are a friendly and nice young couple. I would definitely stay there again. Two points that may or may not be relevant to some potential guests. The private bath is not en suite; it is a short walk down a hall, but it is the guest's private bath with a great shower. Also if you have any mobility issues, there is a relatively steep narrow staircase. But I'm 70 and had no trouble at all carrying my bags up and down.

    William2016-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Nick and Shelley's home is great! It's beautifully decorated - the room itself is cozy and comfortable, with all the amenities you could need (they even left out a carafe of water and body lotion!). The separate bathroom is luxurious, with the best water pressure I've experienced in a long time. The location is great - near lots of Shaw's best restaurants and bars, and a 6-minute walk from the Convention Center. I would definitely stay here again!

    Ashley2019-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • I didn’t get to meet Nick&Shelley, but it was easy contacting them. The house is very cute and has a cool design. It was very clean and I felt comfortable staying there. It’s easy to reach the metro and many bars and restaurants are around. Since the price is relatively high, the only thing they could upgrade is the bed, because it’s not very comfortable. All in all I can recommend to stay there!

    Andrea2018-05-05T00:00:00Z

Inspiring NYC Studio loft style in the heart of Blagden alley historical district. Much effort was given to preserve this 1870 carriage house’s landmark legacy while remodeling in 2018: hardwood floors throughout, flooded with natural light, gourmet kitchen, King bed & extra beddings upon request. Set back in a quiet corner but from the pulse of Shaw & Logan. 1min walk to convention ctr, 6 to Verizon ctr, 15 to White H. Complimentary free local Gym access & free parking permit. WELCOME!
I am so excited Welcoming you in this unique place ! I should start with a little bit of a history ( all right I know I’ll make it quick just about Two minutes of reading so you can get Some Inspiring (i think) background about the place. Blagden Alley is a historic district defined by middle-class residences, churches and small apartment buildings which display a rich variety of Victorian architectural styles dating from the 1860’s to the 1890’s. In the interior of each block are extant examples of utilitarian alley dwellings, such as working class residences, stables and commercial buildings that are hidden behind the buildings facing the streets. The area illustrates how different classes, races and services were physically organized in the 19th-century city of Washington. The names Blagden Alley and Naylor Court were derived from two 19th-century property owners, Thomas Blagden and Dickerson Nailor. Blagden owned property in the area and ran a lumberyard in the city. Dickerson Nailor (now spelled Naylor) also owned property and was a grocer. After the Civil War, Washington's downtown became increasingly commercial and residential development grew north to the Blagden Alley area in the 1870s and attracted several prestigious, affluent residents. The elegant townhouse, the Blanche K. Bruce House (NHL) at 909 M Street was constructed in 1873. Bruce was the first African American to serve as a Senator in Congress (R-Miss, 1875-1881). To the south was a house built by Alexander "Boss" Shepard, the chief of the Board of Public Works during the 1870s. Streetcar lines connected 9th and 7th Streets with downtown in 1873, and these streets served as the main commercial corridors. After the Civil War, many African Americans migrated to Washington and came to live in the alley dwellings. They were small and poorly constructed buildings, mainly of wood and brick. The living conditions were overcrowded and unsanitary. Throughout the first half of the 20th century, there were concentrated efforts to have the alley dwellings demolished. Bladgen Alley and Naylor Court are two of only a handful of alleys which are extant. The Blagden Alley neighborhood continued to serve as a closely-knit, racially mixed middle and working class neighborhood into the 20th century. However, the widening of 9th Street with its subsequent loss of street trees and yards, the flight of the middle class to the suburbs, the increase of absentee landlords and the 1968 riots led to deterioration of the area. Today, there is interest in renovating and restoring the homes. New residents have been attracted to the area by the charm of the buildings and the proximity to downtown. So you know the big picture. On the logistics side to recap the space is bright spacious 1000sq ft, totally open and changeable. Brand new kitchen appliances and state of the art Cuisinart tools . Security system extremely safe especially for Single woman traveler. Any question of further detail you may have about a specific of the place Just ask! 3/4 guests staying with here are couples or single business traveler. I often organize the space differently for a long stay or any special requests if you need to set up a desk area, a meeting room, A/V material I have everything you need. The space is indeed regularly used as an offsite meeting location for events at the convention center. 1/4 of guests staying here are mostly, couple with Younger children, groups of friends, Siblings or special occasion getaway trip. I can accommodate special and extra bedding as requested. Although There is a NO hard party policy, I do take reservations for small events and Gathering, Let me know what the details are and we will try to work out something together.
The loft is in the heart of Blagden Alley historical district. Walk to the Convention Center, Verizon Center, and the White House. Many unmissable hot spots are around the corner, including artists' workspaces, food markets, shops, and restaurants.
  • This was a great place to stay while at a conference at the convention center, which is a very short walk away. The surrounding neighborhood has some great places to eat. The loft is very clean, and nicely styled. Louis was very thoughtful in providing coffee, snacks, and a whole selection of common items that someone may need (like lip balm!!). My only (small) complaint is that there is a very bright streetlight and flood light that shines into the windows by the bed—light-blocking blinds are strongly recommended. Overall a great experience.

The place is clean, warm and the bed is super comfortable. Franco was very accommodating and friendly. We'll definitely stay here again if we come to DC.

  • Great location and Marco was amazingly helpful.

    Darren2017-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • "Our stay at Mr. Franco's was great. The guest area was completely isolated from the rest of the house and was located on the basement floor. It was very spacious for a place that has a decently sized kitchen, living room area, bathroom, and bedroom. Everything was provided for us, such as kitchen utensils, and towels for the bathroom, any basic items needed (just like a hotel). We did not leave promptly at check out time, which the host did not mind and we texted him if we had any issues, and to make arrangements to return the key. It was a pretty smooth and relaxing stay." This place is much bigger in person.

    Chidi2016-11-26T00:00:00Z
