Ideal for walkers! Coast approx 45mins. Utility room with hob if needed. Variety of herbal teas and fresh coffee supplied.
Rye View Cottage is a peaceful rural retreat. The bedroom and en suite available to guests are not in the main part of the house so although family members may use the utility room and study area below we try not to when somebody is staying. We are ideally situated for visiting the City of York, the North Yorkshire moors and the east coast. A good supply of literature is available for guests for both good and bad weather! Homemade sourdough is given at breakfast and if required these can be bought if ordered in advance. A travel cot and stairgate are available if needed. Butterwick is a small village made up of eleven houses with no through road therefore it has a charm and peace about it that is often difficult to find in today's busy world. The birdsong is particularly outstanding.
Butterwick is a small village (classed as a village as it has a church), only eleven houses and a no through road which makes it extremely peaceful! A world away from the hussle and bussle of towns and cities! The community is very friendly and often there are 'village events' open to all. David and myself have lived here for approximately ten/eleven years. Nearby is the food capital of the north (Malton) the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors, Castle Howard and the Howardian Hills.

Beech nut shepherds hut is a wonderful space to relax in and slow your life down. Furnished simply and elegantly, it is the perfect place to escape and switch off the hustle and bustle of everyday life. You'll be surprised how spacious the hut feels, it's so roomy with a high ceiling. Plenty of cosy throws for curling up around the fire pit to watch the stars, wonderful walks straight from the hut and a freshly baked loaf of bread to wake to, what more could you need....
The shepherds hut is nestled in a corner of an apple, damson and pear orchard at the bottom of the owners garden. Secluded by trees and with wonderful views from your doorstep, it's a very serene place to stay. The hut can house two adults in the double bed, plus one child in the day bed, a travel cot can also fit easily. Whilst luxurious, this is still 'glamping' and so a short walk must be made across the garden to visit the toilet and shower room. This is accessed by the owners utility room where you will also have your own small fridge, worktop area, microwave, kitchen sink, washer, drier and access to freezer. An electric stove, kettle, beautiful dresser, sound system, toaster, book selection, throws, log burner, complementary logs, towels and bedding are all included in your stay. The hut is situated on a working farm, but hopefully any mooing, baa-ing and the occasional woof won't intrude on your stay! You are welcome to wander around, ask questions and collect fresh eggs from the hens if it interests you. Fresh baked bread for your first morning is included, with the option or ordering adding on extras- smoked salmon platter, porridge with cream, honey and spices, fruit platter or a patisserie selection at an addition cost. They can be delivered to the hut or left in the utility room for you to collect at your leisure.
The nearest small town is Stamford bridge, a five minute car drive. Useful for co op, butchers, pharmacists, cafes and a couple of ok pubs. Some wonderful traditional and gastro pubs are all close by too. York, Whitby, Scarborough, Leeds robin hoods bay, Filey, Helmsley and Beverley are all within driving distance and are wonderful places to visit.

Our Shepherd's Hut sleeps four guests, it includes a double, single bunk above and another single bed that pulls out from underneath the double. This can be tucked away to create more space in the day. We provide bed sheets and pillows, but you'll have to bring your own sleeping bag and towels. If you have children under 6, please consider if they might need a late night toilet break or safety nappy, as we appreciate children can have accidents but we would like the parents to take responsibility for this. We want you to enjoy the cosiness of our Shepherd's Hut, whether in summer or in winter, we have no doubt that you'll be plenty warm enough with the 3 kilowatt log burner inside. Wood Cottage is a luxurious two-bedroom holiday cottage in the village of Thornton-le-Clay, between York and the North Yorkshire Moors. It is available to rent by the week and for shorter periods. The cottage was converted from a 150 year old former sawmill, with the renovations completed in 2011. The original structure and beams remain, but the interior has been comprehensively reworked to high standards.
The house is very well-suited to families, and is also ideal for two couples. There is plenty of space in the living area for relaxing and for children to play.
Thornton le Clay is well-positioned on the edge of the Howardian Hills, around 13 miles north-east of York. It is a peaceful village with houses set mainly on just two streets. It has one pub, the White Swan, open most days at lunch and during the evenings, and offering good food and drink (including real ale on tap at most times). The pub has a large and attractive garden at the back which is great for children. Occasional events include live music and a pub quiz. There is no shop in the village, so it might be a good idea to bring a few provisions. The nearest shop is four miles away in Sheriff Hutton, and supermarkets are close to York.
