Guest house above the garage, private entrance and parking, 1 bed, 1 bath with full kitchen and living/dining area. Surrounded by woods and wildlife with plenty of privacy from neighbors. A 3rd person can sleep on the couch and you could have a 4th person on a cot or air mattress. Only 1 bed. Twin air mattress is provided for 4th person. This is a great place for a short or extended stay! Couch is reclining but not a pull out bed. Karns, Dollar General and other stores nearby.
In the beautiful Perry County mountains away from the busy city's but not too far from the main routes. Enjoy a 1/4 mile walk to the end of our drive and watch the Alpacas play in the meadow! Or sit on the front deck and watch for wildlife in the woods!. We are 30 minutes from Carlisle and about 35 minutes to Harrisburg.
We love the beautiful creation and creatures. Lots of pretty birds and wildlife. You are welcome to take a stroll through the woods on one of the many trails.
  • This is a great outdoor get-a-way. It is secluded which comes with a price -- there's no Internet. David has wifi but it is spotty and we lost connection often. David was flexible and made it so we could launder the linens upon arrival due to allergies. We were disappointed that the porch overlooks the swimming pool and active backyard. Understand that you are in the woods -- we found a few stink bugs inside. If you have a noise machine, you will sleep through the children playing and the noise from the garage door below. Unfortunately we didn't have nice weather or we would have did more hiking. We did go to Little Buffalo State Park. I always wanted to go to Red Rabbit as a kid and I finally got to go!! Highly recommended the short drive to the Red Rabbit --- fun experience! I'd love to visit again when everything is green!

  • I have been traveling the US over the past few years and I have stayed at several Airbnb places but David and Rachel's place gets listed as one of my favorites. The apartment above the garage was just right for me. Was close to where I needed and very quiet when I needed rest. David and Rachel are the nicest hosts that you could ever ask for. They went out of their way to make me feel at home and treated me like family. I was their first guest and they get 5 stars from me for sure.

  • Absolutely perfect stay after a year at Carlisle Barracks. Such a great guest house and superb hosts. David, Rachel and the kids are available and approachable without seeming to be around unless needed. This is my 2nd stay and I’m glad I was able to get a week relaxing. The place is quiet, clean, and has all the amenities you might need to feel like home. It is close enough to Harrisburg and Carlisle for a short commute through the country but far enough away to feel like a country retreat. Great kitchen allowed me to cook and a enjoy the patio and wildlife. (Squirrels, deer and birds). I highly recommend a stay with David and Rachel if you are in the area. I will be back again.

Total seclusion awaits you complete with a 3 acre pond stocked with large mouth bass (no license required), a swan, and several giant Koi. Gather your own fresh eggs for that super omelet. An adorable studio apartment...situated over a garage that looks like you walked into a 1960's Texaco Gas Station...complete with a couple of 1955 Tbirds, lots of 60's mustangs in various stages of restoration. Located within 1 hour of the Carlisle Antique auto swap meets, Hershey, Gettysburg and lots more !!
Owners are on site in this totally secluded retreat. Your studio apartment is located up one flight of stairs...and there are 2 German Shepherds on the property.
  • This old Texaco garage is awesome! There's tons of cool/unique things to see, we could've spent days just exploring the property! The swan, butterflies, and windchimes make this place magical. Instead, we spent our time touring the mountains on the Harley, which offered beautiful scenery. We will definitely be returning!

  • Excellent hospitality from a lovely couple. The apartment is located above their private garage. Very responsive hosts. The apartment is filled with antiques, spacious and It’s comfortable. We didn’t really explore the pond because it was 100 degrees outside. The property is beautiful regardless. If we’re in the area we will stay here again.

    Annamarie2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect stay! It’s a beautiful space with so many thoughtful and interesting touches as well as plenty of activities around the property.

    Audrey2019-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great location for privacy and exploration of the area. It is 30 min from Carlisle but it is a pleasant drive. There is no WiFi or cable but there are plenty of activities and games to occupy travelers. The large pond is picturesque and has fish. We loved being able to cook our breakfast using their farm eggs. Lots of spices and other kitchen necessities were provided and there are two stores within 3-4 minutes of the farm. Barb and Greg provided toiletries and fishing equipment as well as a great space which is over a separate garage area. We were so pleased. The a/c was a window unit which works well. There were fans, labels, directions for anything we needed. The mattress has a comfortable topper, plenty of pillows and extra linens as needed. We really loved the place and Greg has told us if we needed to bring our car trailer next year, there would be room. Thank you to Barb and Greg... excellent hosts

    Stephanie2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • We were very pleased with our accommodations. Barb & Greg have creates a stunning little apartment that feels like a step back in time. The vintage decor and all the fine touches made our stay very enjoyable. Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. I would not hesitate to recommend this rental.

    Susan2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • I give this beautiful spot 6 stars! The guest cottage was stocked full of everything we could possibly need or want. We enjoyed fresh eggs, bottled and filtered water, coloring books and great movies! I can actually say this is the closest place to home I have been yet. Barb and Greg were gracious host. Barb and two sweet dogs took us on a tour of the henhouse, which I extremely loved! Greg was very quick to answer the phone and guide us to the local watering hole. We felt like two little kids going to a theme park! Thank you Barb and Greg for making this a wonderful experience!

  • This house was perfect for a weekend stay with the kids. They loved the animals! A very cozy house with plenty of space.

    Drew2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • A great place for anyone, but especially if you have children. Daniel and his family were welcoming and hospitable. Our girls loved that they could swing outside and interact with the animals. The view of the fall trees across the mountains was beautiful. There was plenty of space and everything we needed to prepare our meals in the kitchen. We will be back to visit and would recommend this to anyone looking for a place to stay in the area.

  • It was so perfect for our little family! Our 3 year old loved playing with the kids, and they were kind enough to let him play and use toys. We had a wonderful stay!

    Jennifer2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Daniel and his family were very accommodating. The guest house was so cozy, a home away from home. The area is gorgeous. If we make plans for PA in the future we will definitely stay again. We absolutely adored the pup and the animals too. It was delightful to be away from the hustle and bustle. My son and I enjoyed sitting outside with the pup and looking at the stars in the clear sky. Highly suggest booking!

  • Beautiful back country home close to the city. Daniel was quick to respond when needed. This is a perfect location for families with kids, couples who want some privacy, individuals with writer's block or pretty much who needs a place away from the hustle and bustle. His family and kids are a delight. We even got homemade ice-cream one day!

Escape from it all at this welcoming cabin set along Little Juniata Creek.

There's plenty of space around the fire pit for ghost stories and roasting marshmallows. You can dine outside under the pavilion on inside on the screened porch. If you decide to head out, we are right between the Susquehanna and Juniata rivers. The Susquehanna is great for fishing, while the Juniata offers great tubing, kayaking and canoeing. • House was perfect for our groups travel needs. it was clean, full of amenities, ample parking for all guests and located in a nice, remote location. Only a few miles from gas, groceries and good local food! Wouldn’t hesitate to book this house again. Already considering booking for next year!

  • We were in PA for a keystone truck and tractor pull in Harrisburg, not a bad ride at all daily to the event center. We spent part of a day at Hershey too. Then part of a beautiful 74 degree spring day on the giant wrap around porch!! The house was massive!! 9 adults were very comfortable. We had room for 2-4 more and even more if someone wants to bring an air bed and stay in the open area on the 3rd floor!! (There is an air mattress there, but we didn’t blow it up). Cool old building with tall ceilings and I’m sure it’s own story to tell. My 6’4” nephew didn’t feel crammed in! The king size bed was a bonus for him too!! 4 toilets, a tub/shower, 2 showers and an extra tub make it is easy for large groups to get ready in a timely manner! Will definitely stay again!

    Michelle2019-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • A great getaway in the woods for larger groups (or smaller ones). The home had a lot of character and history, and was updated to be very comfortable with plenty of modern bathrooms for all. We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend it to anyone!

    Birgitta2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely and spacious home! We really enjoyed our weekend stay here - it was perfect for a big group, with great amenities like a porch swing, indoor fireplace, large tables, and plenty of seating. Jonathan is a responsive and helpful host. We hope to come back!

    Kara2018-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jill & Jonathan are great hosts and were super hospitable during our entire stay. Check in was easy, house rules and check out instructions are clear and the hosts were always accessible. Their home has great views, large, open spaces, amazing wrap around decks and accommodated our large group easily. The kids enjoyed the expansive yard and the adults made some great memories around the awesome fire pit each night. Highly recommend for large groups looking for the cottage experience.

    Kim2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • It might be off the beaten path, but it was perfect for us. Plenty of bedrooms & bathrooms. HUGE covered deck on one side of the house & a great wrap-around porch on the other side. Lots of character & modern updates.

  • Fascinating historic home in beautiful Millerstown. Loads of space for large gatherings, host is very responsive. Great collection of dvds as well.

    Nicole2019-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing country getaway! For our large group of 15 family members, this property was absolutely amazing. Nestled in the scenic woods, this house is both spacious and unique with a very antique and historic feel. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable, and furnished with high-quality mattresses and beautiful antique dressers. There are 3 bathrooms on the second floor, all of which have large showers and plenty of towels. There is even a claw-foot tub in one of the bathrooms, perfect for a relaxing soak after a hike on one of the local trails. The kitchen is fully loaded with pots and pans, dishes, a coffee maker, and a dishwasher. There is a gas grill outside, perfect for a summer BBQ. We cooked all of our meals and used the large table in the dining area for a buffet. After dinner, we would gather around the large fire pit outside to toast marshmallows and tell stories. Every morning we would sit on the patio and have coffee and pastries before breakfast. This was a very memorable vacation for our family, and for the price you can't beat it. We are definitely booking again if and when the occasion arrises.

  • How do I even begin? For starters, the address for the house is 160 however the street sign says 158 (I’m assuming that’s their address) but nowhere in the listing does it say to put 158 in the GPS. We arrived at night and it was very difficult to find the correct house. When we finally found the right house, our disappointment continued. The lighting outside the house was almost non-existent, causing a lot of annoyance while trying to unpack the car. Upon entering the house we saw an open water bottle sitting on the table, dishes that were not put away, a floor that looks like it hasn’t been vacuumed in God knows how long, and a dusty garbage can without a bag. Our disappointment only grew from here. The bed did not have sheets on it. Who wants to go away and have to start making a bed? Not me!! We went to the closet to get the sheets and guess what!! The (dirty) sheet had a huge tear through it making it impossible to use. Thankfully I had sheets in my car. Time to move on to the next bedroom. Wait where is the second bedroom? The listing said it was two bedrooms. Oh! I see! They lied! There is a small nook with an extremely uncomfortable pull-out couch that does not constitute as a second bedroom. Thankfully I’m an over-preparer and I keep an air mattress in the trunk of my car. When I rented a two bedroom house I wasn’t expecting to have to sleep out in the open with my own air mattress. But wait the listing shows that there is a washing machine and dryer so at least it has that positive amenity. When I opened the washing machine I found a load of dirty sheets and towels. Absolutely disgusting!! I thought I’d do the wash so I went to turn on the washing machine and it was broken. (Even if the washing machine worked, it wouldn’t have made much of a difference because the dryer is also broken.) I messaged the host, Cheryl, upon arrival and she didn’t even have the decency to respond. In short - this was my worst AirBNB experience and I would never stay here again.
