this is a small room perfect for business / budget travelers. It is small with a full size bed and a big closet. you can however, access our living /dining room to hang out. We live upstairs, we rent out 2 rooms downstairs. This is a private room but the rest of the house is a SHARED space, if you are uncomfortable with this setup this will not be a good fit. We speak English and German.
2 story building in a charming tree lined street. 10 Minutes from West Oakland BART Station. 15 Minutes from San Francisco Downtown. We live upstairs, we rent out 2 rooms downstairs. big dining room is available as hangout area. 900 sq feet [we will share the gourmet kitchen and we do dinner parties on a regular basis]. We speak English and German. Looking forward to meet you =]
West Oakland is an up and coming neighborhood. Very residential and usually very quiet at night. We don't have a lot of restaurants and stores in walking distance but we are really close to downtown. 5 minutes by car and 20 minutes on foot. You can get to San Francisco very quickly [20 min] via BART [10min walk to station 8 min ride, lots of trains]
  • Christian and his wife were OUTSTANDING hosts and were extremely accommodating. I stayed at their place on 4/17 - 4/19 and was pleasantly welcomed into their home. The home is only a 10 minute walk to a bart station for easy access into the city. Christian and his wife will also take their time to chat about any local and must see spots in case you're lost like me! I can't thank them enough for all their help. Without hesitation, I recommend staying here!

  • Everything was clean, they both were very friendly and we could have some breakfast.

  • The listing is exactly as you see, but the best part of the stay was the warm friendly welcome and help offered by the host. Christian picked us up from the BART and Howes us around the house as well as giving us many brochures and advice like catching the ferry over to the city which was great. He also let us leave our bags and helped us out as we left quite late at night. Was a great stay!

  • Christian was a great host. He has a lovely house, close to the Bart station so easy to get places. He offered us a ride to the ferry and has heaps of info on things to do in San Francisco. Highly recommend!

  • I really loved to stay at Cristian’s house. He is so friendly and helped me with a lots of hits. The house is really pretty and clean. Isn’t far from San Francisco. If I come back in Oakland I want to come back there

  • Our room was very cozy and clean. We had everything we needed, kitchen and bathroom utensils, all in the very nice and stylish house. The neighborhood was calm. It was 10 min from BART and only one station to the city center of SF, very convenient!

    Aleksandra2019-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Christian's was really good! Our room and had lots of space for our luggage since we have been traveling for couple weeks prior. He was there when we got there and explained everything to us and was very helpful with things to do even around his house - there are great places to eat! He had a table full of flyers with tons of information and maps and all sorts of things that would help people like us coming to the bay area for the first time. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was big and newly renovated - lots of space. The house in general was in a great condition with nice old wood floors and a great kitchen area that was accessible to us. I would definitely stay there another time and recommend it to anyone interested on staying close to SF. The commuter ferry for $6 is the best way to get in to the city - it's super close. I would say it's a 5-10 min car ride and cheap if you take an Uber. Thank you so much for having us Christian. Vielen Dank für alles!

Located on the border of historic West Oakland and bustling Downtown Oakland. Come relax, decompress, and veg out in our bright, spacious, Zen Room. Stimulate your higher self with warm tones, luxurious wool carpets, and general healing vibrations
The Zen Room is filled with light & warmth even on dreary wintery days
I live in a remodeled Victorian in historic West Oakland. My street is one of the few streets where everyone has been on this block for 30 years or more. My neighbors are my family. We are a historically African American working class neighborhood.
  • Clean, easy, helpful—great experience!

  • Damali’s place is clean, comfortable and she was a friendly and communicative host. If you’re coming from the 12th St station or the airport, would recommend getting a cab - we set off walking from 12th St because on your maps it looks like an easy 10 min stroll. Damali advised us to get a cab, we just thought we’d be OK! We got lost, (blame the 11 hour flight and not wanting to pay $6 to use the Internet!) ending up at another part of Myrtle St, about 6/7 blocks away, which feels like ages away from Damali’s place when you don’t know where you’re going. The place is at 16th and Myrtle St so just stick to that and you won’t go wrong like we did.

    Amy2018-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a lot out stay at Damali's house. The house is in a residential area which can be easily reached with BART in a 10-15 minute walk. Our room was clean, we had our own bathroom and everything we needed. Damali was so kind to let us do our laundry and to allow us to leave our luggage in the house until the afternoon the day we left. I would definitely recommend staying at her house.

    Giuseppe2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Damali's home is a nice retreat and very convenient driving distance from the City. Remember, no shoes in the bedroom! And be ready for a Japanese style mattress (for anyone seeking a standard bed). We were in very late after long days exploring the city, and access was very easy. Street parking was easy to find. Damali's home is quiet and clean. Recommended!

My place is close to the 19th street Bart station, the Fox and Paramont Theaters. Lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance. Near the Marriot Hotel and City center. All these places and more are within 10 minutes walking distance. Twenty minute walk to Jack London Square. A fifteen minute stroll to Lake Merrit. My place is located in the heart of the city close to all freeways and Bart and Bus. Can be noisy in the mornings. I supply ear plugs.
The home is a historic part of old Oakland. The house is a duplex. The top unit is where guest stay. You need to be able to climb about 14 steps.
There is a museum is across the street. You within walking distance of Downtown Oakland. Freeways (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) and 24 are close by. Ten minute walk to the 19th street bart station. You can be in San Francisco within 10 minutes of arriving at the bart station. My favorite restaurant the Belly is five minutes away.
  • Anna is a terrific host! Very kind and communicative. The space was clean and we had everything we needed. A very comfortable king bed! Location was great - quick walk to bars and restaurants. Would definitely stay again!

    Erin2018-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful stay thanks to Anna. She is super helpful and kind. Check in was easy and smooth. Location is good if you have to be both in Oakland and SF which was my case. It is 12 minute walk to the 19th street station or an $8 uber ride to or from the station. $3.45 on the BART subway gets you into SF. It is $9 one way on the BART from SFO airport. The walk to and from the station is not bad there are a lot of new upscale apartment complexes. I also did not encounter any homeless tent cities in my walks between the station and the home and felt safe walking. Maybe I have bad hearing but I could not hear the traffic so I never needed the ear plugs she provided.

    Nabeel2017-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • The only problem I had was traffic noise, since it's right next to the expressway, but they give you earplugs. Otherwise it was a better experience than a hotel and much cheaper

    Jaime2017-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Our second stay in this room and as always we had everything we needed. Anna left plenty of space in the fridge for us and we made breakfast at home. This house is clean and conveniently located to downtown Oakland.

  • Just about perfect in every way. The host was a professional with painstaking detail to everything. From a spotless bathroom to a perfectly made bed. The house was an oasis . Warm hearth like atmosphere. Highly recommended and I would return.

  • Great location and good value for money. Highly recommend staying here if you’re visiting the area.

    Ashley2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • The space is quite large with two bedrooms and a bathroom. The kitchen is large and accommodating for meals and gatherings. Regrettably, we were only staying for one night, but if you are staying for more time plan to use the modern kitchen! These hosts are very hospitable so if you need anything message them and they are available! The location is accessible to wherever you plan to go. Btw, they offer secured parking in their driveway. What a nice amenity. A perfect place to use as a platform to go anywhere in the Bay Area for a value.

  • Abi's a fantastic host who is very kind, a fantastic communicator, and thoughtful. He allowed us to check in a bit earlier to drop off our things and, given a late night and long flight, accommodated a later morning check-out. We also appreciated very much some extra bottled water. The space is quite spacious. Thank you Abi! It was a pleasure to stay and we'll stay again when in the Oakland area.

  • This place is a fantastic no frills option if you need an affordable place with easy access to downtown SF via BART. Many recent updates (kitchen, floors, shower). The beds are new and very comfortable. It's not super fancy, but it is wonderful. I'd highly recommend this place as an amazing value. Abiel was an awesome host with lightning fast response times and plenty of local tips.

Private room with closet and brand new carpet in newer 2008 built house. Less than a mile from the 19th street bart. Nonstop bus to Transbay terminal in SF one block away. Guest will have shared access to washer and dryer and kitchenette with microwave, toaster, fridge, blender coffee maker. There are 3 private rooms for guests that share the bathroom and kitchenette. Only a 5 minute walk from my favorite brewery Ghost Town with $5 pints!
Room is on the first floor of a two floor house. Access only to first floor. No oven or stovetop so it is good for people who don't cook often. Close to downtown Oakland!
West Oakland is a diverse and ever changing neighborhood. Please be comfortable with people from all walks of life. A lone traveller might feel more comfortable taking a taxi or uber after dark. We live here with our family and feel safe in the neighborhood. All in all its a great value for proximity to downtown and transit options.
  • Good, easy stay. Would recommend!

    Jason2019-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • Super comfy bed and very clean space. The room has a lot of space! Perfect if you need a comfy spot to sleep and want to be close to BART so you can explore the area. Keith checked in from time to time to make sure we didn’t need anything. Uber Pool is also very cheap from his place.

    Julia2019-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! Keith was really kind, had lots of good recommendations, and would check in regularly. Also a great location, 15 or so minute walk to downtown Oakland. The kitchen area is a bit small and is harder if you plan to cook a lot of meals, but still definitely doable. Overall would definitely recommend!

    Asa2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Keith’s place was perfect for my trip. I was in town for a summer internship and the room was very accommodating, clean, & spacious. He had great communication with me before and during my stay. Additionally the guest who stayed in the other rooms were very nice. I would definitely recommend Keith’s place!

    Alexis2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Keith was very nice. The rooms are very nice and clean. Looks just like the picture. The neighborhood is older, but Keith’s House was clean.

    Steven2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to stay with your partner or solo. Hosts are very gracious and accommodating. Had some good conversations with Keith. He is a kind and understanding host that wants nothing more than a great stay for his guests. Any issue I had, did not have to wait more than five minutes maximum for it to be resolved completely. I would stay again in a heartbeat if I was still in the Bay Area.

Private apartment and entrance in the back of a Victorian multi-unit building. Centrally located between Downtown Oakland and San Francisco. The space is clean and cozy with high ceilings. Fully stocked kitchen and full bathroom with tub. Walking distance or short uber ride from Downtown Oakland. 15 min walk to West Oakland Bart, only 5 min Bart ride to San Francisco. Nearby Marriott, Convention Center, Jack London Square, Lake Merritt, City Hall, and tons of restaurants, bars and coffee shops!
Conveniently located in the West Oakland neighborhood between Downtown Oakland and Downtown San Francisco! This apartment is just the right size for your stay in the Bay Area! The space is decorated with vibrant colors and eclectic accents. It’s a cozy one bedroom apartment with a brand new double-size memory foam mattress for you to sleep in and a bean bag chair for you to relax in after a long day. The table in the kitchen is great for getting work done. The kitchen is also fully stocked with pots, pans, plates, utensils, spices, and other cooking equipment. There is no microwave but feel free to use the oven. There is also a Brita water filter with water in the fridge. There is a closet with hangers if you need as well as an iron and ironing board. The blow dryer is under the sink in the bathroom and shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel are available for you to use in the shower. There is a bbq in the back with seating and a fire pit. Feel free to relax or smoke a cigarette outside. Please note that the yard is a shared space with the rest of the units that make up the Victorian house. We try our best to keep it clean but there can be some clutter outside when the other neighbors don’t clean up. There are also two dogs who live in the neighboring units. Both may look intimidating but are actually very friendly. The one upstairs is especially friendly and might come to say hi!
West Oakland is an up and coming neighborhood in a quickly changing urban environment. It's a vibrant mix of working class families, artists, techies, hipsters, and young families. Like any city, there can be noise, people walking around the street late at night, and maybe some homeless people. It looks rough on the exterior but it's actually not so bad and long time residents and newcomers alike are very friendly. I lived in the space for years and never had any issues but I also used my common sense. We always recommend to guests that they take an Uber/Lyft at night but you'll have no problem walking between destinations during the day. One of my favorite things about West Oakland is the vibrant art scene. The Crucible is an amazing art collective that sits on 7th Street down from the Bart station. They host a variety of art classes and events and have built numerous projects for Burning Man. American Steel has also hosted an incredible number of mind blowing art pieces from Burning Man. You can see sculptures all around the building and get yourself a cup of coffee at Kilavolt while you're at it. There's also graffiti everywhere! Some of it is rather incredible so keep your eyes peeled for some one of a kind pieces. Mandela Parkway is about 5 blocks away from the apartment and hosts an awesome local coffee shop, Kilovolt, and an amazing soul food breakfast spot called Brown Sugar Cafe. Downtown is about a 15-20 min walk where you'll find lots of amazing restaurants and bars mainly on Broadway and Telegraph. You can also visit Jack London Square where you'll find restaurants on the water front and one of the oldest bars in the Bay Area called Heynold's First and Last Chance Saloon. The bar was around during the Gold Rush and survived the 1906 earthquake.
  • For Bay Area accommodations this was extremely spacious and very reasonably priced. The hosts did a good job providing a clean place and it's a back unit so it feels pretty safe, but it *is* an older unit if you're picky about that sort of thing. One BART stop away from SF proper is great. The place is less than a mile from the station, and there are Lime scooters and Ford Go Bikes available there so it's really convenient getting to and from the unit. It was also very easy getting there from the Oakland airport. I know West Oakland (and Oakland generally) doesn't have the best reputation for safety, but I never felt sketched out at all and the unit itself is in the back of the property so all in all it felt pretty secure.

  • We had a very good time at Marissas apartment. It was super easy to get there and very clean space. It is only one stop with BART to San Francisco and makes traveling around the Bay Area very smooth. We enjoyed the trip!

    P.2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • This place is mis-advertised. Note that there are no exterior pictures. This house is the worst hose on the block! It’s description says that it’s blue, but this house hasn’t seen a coat of paint in years!!! The driveway and walk-up are littered with trash and there are “undesirables” wandering in front making it very scary. We made it up the stairs and peeked in the window....the room did appear as the pictures...however, we were afraid to continue and requested a refund. The owner refunded all but $25 but Airbnb refunded the remainder. Be warned when a listing doesn’t show pictures of EVERYTHING!

    Cheryl2018-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Marissa's place was sweet! At first glance, the neighborhood seemed a little rough, but when I took a moment to take it in; the laughing neighbors, children on bikes, people nodding hello; it became a quiet sanctuary in a busy city. I was greeted by friendly neighbors and a sweet dog. The apartment was comfortable and close to many places. A Lyft arrived within minutes when I wanted to leave for dinner, but didn't want to drive. The dining table was big enough to spread my work out and the bedroom was full of sun-light and heavy drapes to keep the street lights out at night. I was surprised by how quiet the streets were at night and was grateful for the undisturbed rest. Marissa thought ahead and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay or in the event we forgot something.

    Douglas2017-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had concerns with some stuff and Marissa was very helpful. Overall we had a great time and are very grateful for having the opportunity to spend our Spring Break here. :)

A private room and bath with a private entrance in West Oakland. This is somewhat close by to Downtown Oakland and the West Oakland Bart Station for those who want to go into the city (SF) or Berkeley. Walking distance to both is about 20 min, but buses are conveniently located about a block away to take you to those places. If you prefer to neither walk or bus, Uber Pool/ Lyft Line are also an inexpensive options to get your destination
This is a residential neighborhood in West Oakland so when booking, please keep that in mind.
  • The room was great! Clean, comfortable bed and it was like a little hotel room. I would really recommend Vicki’s place if you go to San Francisco. Street parking right outside.

A private room and bath situated somewhat close by to Downtown Oakland, the West Oakland Bart Station for those who want to go into the city (SF) or Berkeley. Walking distance to both is about 20 min, but buses are conveniently located about a block away to take you to those places. If you prefer to neither walk or bus, Uber Pool/ Lyft Line are also an inexpensive options to get your destination.
  • Vicky and her mom were very nice and respectful. The location was perfect for me, close to where my son lives. Bedroom and bathroom spacious, comfortable and clean. Quiet room. Perfect coordination for arrival and Vicky always quickly responding through the airbnb chat. Great stay for me!

  • I spent a month and a half here. I really enjoyed my stay. The room is very private and has its own bathroom and mini fridge, which is awesome. The place is about a ~15-20 minute walk ($4 Lyft) to BART. Super easy to get to the city. The downsides are that the internet is a little unstable, and there are few grocery stores or eateries in the immediate vicinity. Fyi, there are a lot of stairs. I would recommend this place for sure.

  • It's a great place if you want to visit San Francisco and sleep in a quiet room with a comfort. Vicki and her mom are respect a privity of guests and very friendly.

  • A clean and spacious place with own bathroom and small bar fridge. Both Vicki and her mum Jessica are very helpful. If youre like me and like to walk around and explore the neighbourhood then its not ideal but its super close to suburbs with cafes etc.

    Sal2018-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing hospitality

    Christy2019-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • A very nice host. Chick-in is easy and very quick. The room is big with an independent bathroom. More important, it’s cheap and close to San Francisco. A very nice place to stay if you want to visit SFO.

  • Nice stay at Vicki's place. Vicki and her mom are very friendly. Easy commute to San Francisco Bay Area. Recommend!

    Yang2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • The room was spacious, clean, and the home was located within walking distance of coffee shops (Kilovolt is a gem!) and eateries. Vicki was very kind, welcoming, and extremely responsive and accommodating to all of my questions and requests.

Feel like a brand new homeowner in the middle of a rapidly changing West Oakland neighborhood! This home is clean, modern, and newly constructed with all new appliances and fixtures for you to enjoy. Within 1.5 miles of West Oakland Bart (closest stop to San Francisco) as well as Downtown Oakland you can easily transport to anywhere in the Bay Area. Conveniently located <2 miles from Emeryville Bay Street shopping, Target, Safeway, and freeway entrances. We love Oakland and hope you will too!
Bedroom contains a queen bed with a beautifully tiled private full bath and ample closet storage. Living room has a couch that folds out to a bed for two when you are not streaming your favorite shows on the TV and relaxing with your feet up. Bonus half bathroom great for accommodating a full group of four. This is downstairs unit in a 2-unit duplex with its own separate front door entrance. Yard entrance through fence is shared with entire house.
  • Had a great time here. Neighbourhood is a bit sketchier than expected but the house is beautiful! The host did a great job of making us feel at home and was of great help.

  • Daniel was an excellent host. He was great at communicating with us and made us feel at home while we were in Oakland.

    Savannah2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • A fabulous place, very nicely appointed. Super clean. Daniel is a great host and very accommodating. We had trouble with the lock box (I put the key back in the box incorrectly, inadvertently jamming the box) and Daniel responded immediately to our calls for help. We were super grateful.

    Renee2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great apartment but v thin walls - so heard upstairs people into the small hours . Not a great neighbourhood.

    Val2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Daniel’s place is a lovely single-floor apartment with a nice layout. There’s a washer/dryer available, as well as a dishwasher, clothes iron, hair dryer, and huge Smart TV with Netflix, etc. The whole place is very new and clean. The bed is very firm, but the living room sofa also folds down into a bed, if you want a softer place to sleep. Lots of windows, so you can enjoy a light breeze and lots of natural light. The neighborhood is friendly during the day and quiet at night. Street parking was easy. The host was helpful and responsive, but gave us total privacy, which we really appreciated. Thanks for a great stay!

Completely renovated ground floor apartment in a lovely West Oakland Victorian walking distance to BART (8 - 9 min walk) and then just 1 stop to SF (another 10 mins). Lots of space, beautiful kitchen, access to the garden out back. The space is clean, calm and an ideal space for 1 - 2 guests.
West Oakland is cool, but it's still up and coming. That means there is lots of good stuff that's close, but not in the immediate area.
  • Very clean, very nice and much bigger than I expected. Great hosts as well.

    Nicholas2018-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • Sullivan’s place was nice and clean and a good value for the Bay Area. The outside looks unkept but the inside is actually very nice. My only complaint is that the bed is held up by wooden planks. When tossing and turning, the bed creaking is very loud. You could also hear every footstep and movement that the upstairs tenants make. The area, however, seems unsafe. On the way to BART, we saw multiple cars with broken windows and shattered glass on the sidewalk. There was also a vagabond girl on the street taking electricity from a community building. I’d advise you NOT to bring your car to this area. Take BART and/or Uber back if you’re coming home after dark.

    Andrew2018-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Sullivan's place was very clean. It has a nice kitchen. It was good for our short stay.

    Payal2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Quick response, very clean, good amenities. Would recommend.

    Willy2019-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Close to Bart. Nice downstairs unit. Remodeled and clean. The garden is the best part. 10/10 would stay here again.

  • I haven't used Airbnb in a little while, but my re-introduction to the service was perfect. I just needed a simple place to stay for a weekend in Oakland while visiting a friend (I am no longer capable of crashing on people's couches). The space is well-appointed and comfortable; kitchen was a highlight (at least looks-wise -- wasn't around long enough to actually make anything but a cup of tea). Best part is the check-in -- so straightforward and easy, takes all the guesswork out of the process. It was nice to come back here at the end of each day. Perfect for 1-2 people. Thanks for the hospitality! I'll be back :)

Location is everything! We’d be happy to share a list of local attractions, events and happenings. Background: Oakland’s Prescott neighborhood is an urban neighborhood in transition. It was historically a working warehouse district with pockets of Victorian homes. The flat is in one of these pockets, if you’ve been to Brooklyn, or Venice Beach or even the SOMA district in SF and loved it...you’d be right at home! Its homes to urban / burning man artist, young start up folks and families of color! We love it and recognize is still a varied neighborhood and city sense should be used. Sample Local Attractions within 1 - 10 miles Within 1-2 miles •Orbit Coffee and Doughnts .Pretty Lady Restaurant •KiloVolt Coffee •Trouble Coffee •On Seventh •Ghost Town Brewing Co. •Jack London Square Within: 5 miles •Tamescal shopping / food area •Downtown SF / Union Square •UC Berkeley Campus •Old town Oakland Farmers Market •Oakland Chinatown •Berkeley Bowl •Ikea Nature (less than 10 mins drive) •Fire Trail •Panoramic Hill •Tilden Regional Park •Redwood Region Park
  • Absolutely amazing stay. Kim was so kind to work with me on very short notice (we’re talking hours, people) when my previous place had some weather-related issues. She was kind enough to give me a walkthrough of the place and a primer on the area. Lots of great tips. The space is very comfortable and very nice. I loved preparing meals in the kitchen, and I had plenty of space in the cupboards, drawers, and fridge for my goodies. Even after I checked in, Kim and Steven made some improvements to the shower (added stripping to prevent water leakage), tuned up the gate lock, brought me a tea kettle, and more recommendations. They are without a doubt two of the nicest people I have ever met. The upstairs neighbors are two equally nice guys and super respectful. Fairness points. -You’re downstairs so you will hear footsteps and stairs on occasion. -The surrounding neighborhood may not be the “nicest”, but I never had issues. If you go straight down Campbell, there’s a corner store that’s a bit rough around the edges, but If you walk down past the school and take Peralta to the BART station, it’s much less “lively.”

    Erik2019-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Kim and Steven are very quick in response. The placy is much better than I expected. About 10 minutes walk to Bart station. Take about 30 mins to get to downtown SF

    Viet2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment was clean and right by the BART. My friends and I had a super easy check in and check out. The two bedrooms were spacious and beautiful. Kim and Steve left us gifts like snacks and drinking water. If you come during the summer, the air conditioning in SF/Oakland is not like it is in LA. This wasn’t a huge issue though since we were out of the apartment for most of the day. Opening the windows works just fine to cool down the rooms. Overall our stay was very pleasant!

  • The apartment was very spacious, clean and comfortable for my family of four. We enjoyed relaxing there after a full day of exploring San Francisco. Parking is on the street but we never had a problem finding a space right outside. Adam and Ashley made us feel welcome and were available in case we needed anything. I would definitely recommend the apartment to anyone wanting to stay in the Oakland area.

  • Loved the location it was within 5 mins of the Oakland port which is the San Francisco ferry that takes you pier 41. The bathroom has perfect amenities, shampoo and conditioner, hairdryer. The notebook was a perfect guide and rules were clear. There was always a parking for us no matter what time we got back on the street. I would definitely go back.

We really enjoyed it. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your house. Definitively be booking one of the rooms again at the end of the year.

  • Senait was an awesome host. My flight was delayed several times, so I ended up arriving/checking in at 3am. She was very understanding and accommodating. The check in process was seamless. The private room was clean, quiet, and homely. She checked in with me and kept me updated on any changes that were occurring (such as new guests arriving soon, etc.). This was my first Airbnb experience and I couldn't have asked for a better one.

  • Vicki’s place exceeded our expectations in all areas. The photos did not do justice with the excellent quality this home provided us with in terms of quality comfort and everything we needed in sleeping, eating, bathing, and resting. It’s got sensored lighting when you get home late. Awesome entertainment area with a comfortable couch and tv. The kitchen is complete with mugs, plates, spoons and forks, soup bowls, knives, chopping board, coffee maker, rice cooker, oven, a huge ref and basic condiments. Complete laundry area with washer and drier, and laundry soap! Bathroom was clean and complete with shampoo, towels, soap and toilet paper. The bedrooms had super comfy beds to sleep in. The moment we laid on them we conked out. Vicki and her co hosts were very responsive to our questions and addressed our needs quickly. We had the best quality home for a week for our dragonboat race and enjoyed going home to this cozy abode. We will definitely book this place again when we travel to San Francisco!

  • Charlotte was kind and welcoming. Her place was clean and looks to be newly refurnished. She provided fresh towels and linens on arrival. The location is about 10 minutes brisk walk to BART which is convenient access into SF. Overall it is a good affordable budget option compared to anything that could be found in SF.

    Derrick2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • TL:DR: a completely uncommunicative host, a house that was under active construction, with almost zero amenities, including no water, ice, way to make coffee, or even a a closet or place to hang my clothes! It located next to a large highway on a trash-strewn street. There is a whole saga here that includes refunds and multiple contacts to Airbnb and such, but the bottom line is this place was a mess, in a bad location, run as hotel by disinterested owners. There are lots of places in the area, you can almost surely do better.

    Daniel2018-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • It was a good place to stay if you don't want to spend much time there. You are in San Francisco in about 20 minutes. The appartement could have been cleaner (there were ants in the bathroom) and unfortunately one of the other guests had the idea to cook some fish so the whole appartement smelled really bad.

  • Close to train station

    Jorge2017-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Overall it's good for the price. But what you pay is what you get. When I arrived to check in I had no way of getting into the home and when I tried to contact the host she was unavailable. Only reason I stayed is because as I was outside the home trying to get in contact with the host, two other guest who were already staying at this home showed up to let us in. Anybody looking to stay with host I strongly recommend establishing communication with the host on how to enter and or get in the home.

    Liz2018-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Josh is a positive influence for his neighborhood as well as the AirBnB community. His loft offered us the opportunity to live amongst beautifully crafted art and offered us the availability of playing several musical instruments. The loft is located in an area that offers plenty of free street parking right outside. The loft is located upstairs from an art gallery / event center. It is spacious and has plenty natural light. Josh provides all the necessary basics.

  • Bianca’s place was perfect for our quick one night trip to Oakland to see a concert at the Fox Theater. Access was easy. Very clean, adorable, and quiet place. Loved the decor and design. It was raining so we drove downtown and never having been in the area we struggled to find parking and not run over a bicyclist, but we made it to dinner and the Fox. Bianca had umbrellas available, thank goodness. We were a bit nervous about the neighborhood. It seemed a bit run down. When we arrived back to Bianca’s around midnight, a neighbor was outside yelling at another neighbor to be quiet as people were trying to sleep. We got up the next morning and headed out to Dripline for coffee and breakfast sandwiches. We were only in the apartment to change and sleep so we didn’t use all the amenities available but it is the perfect place to stay especially if you have children. We didn’t stay longer because we had to go back to work Friday, but if we were to come to Oakland again for a longer stay, Bianca’s place would be perfect.

  • Honestly, I don't have much to say which is a good thing. The airbnb was incredible and beautiful. I love how specific and thorough the instructions were from the hosts. Best airbnb ever. Thank you so much! HIGHLY recommended.

  • He space is gorgeous and well maintained. A perfectly quiet get away in which you can feel completely secluded from the outside world. Within walking distance to some great Oakland spots - DripLine, Brown Sugar Kitchen - I would happily stay here again.

  • Loved staying at Bianca’s place. I only stayed a couple nights and did not explore the neighborhood but the apartment is adorable and so cozy. Bianca was very helpful and responsive. I will for sure return should I need a place to stay in Oakland in the future. :)

    Lee2019-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed Bianca's place. The neighborhood was pretty nice, it was a walking distance from Downtown Oakland and BART. We had no issues whatsoever during our stay. I really admired how cozy her place was, it definitely had a home away from home feel.

    LaTisha2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • We were in town for work and found Bianca's place to be perfectly situated for business in both SF and East Bay. A 13m morning walk to West Oakland Bart had you in the city in 1 stop (or a quick Lyft/Uber ride). The place was clean and comfortable, with an amazing shower... great value for business or personal travel. I slept on the pullout bed which had a nice foam mattress topper making it very comfortable, while my boss enjoyed the bedroom. Bianca was also very responsive, and granted us a late checkout our last morning with no hesitation. Great host, awesome place, and incredible location!

    Morgan2018-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • Bianca's place was gorgeous. We really appreciate all the attention to detail and the design of the apartment! The apartment was clean and inviting with a really comfortable bed. Communication was great too. If you want to commute to San Francisco or the East bay area this is your place.

    Rouven2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Bianca's place had everything we needed and was a very comfortable stay! The place was a short uber/lyft/bus ride, or a 15min walk to the BART station. Note: we had no cellular reception inside the accommodation (we were on theAT&T network) however the WiFi worked fine. Would definitely recommend this place!

Spacious Suite with large closet and private bathroom. The Suite is incredibly cozy with Fireplace, Apple TV, 40'' HD24K TV, spacious workstation, Fast Internet, Bluetooth Bose Speakers, refrigerator and freezer. The suite features a comfortable memory foam queen size bed and luggage rack. Located in a safe part of Oakland. Only 10 minute walk to the West Oakland Bart Station (subway), one stop from downtown SF. E-scooters/Ford bicycles station available one block from the house.
The suite is located on a quiet downstairs of a 1898 Original Victorian home completely renovated and modernized with luxury finishings and decorated with designer and art pieces. The house has lots of light with solar tubes and skylights, plants, and great rooms to relax, read and decompress. In the garden you'll find a trellis where you're welcome to bring our hammock and read a book or just relax and listen to the birds for a while. A beautiful garden in the back where the owner grows different type of fruits, vegetables, and herbs. The house is designed as an urban retreat sanctuary therefore no parties or unregistered guest allowed in the property. Perfect Executive Stay.
The house is located in a very safe part of West Oakland,. It is a family and community oriented block so please feel free to say hi to the neighbors. Having that said, please use caution when walking around in the evening as this is an urban space with not a pedestrian density. The West Oakland is a very vibrant neighborhood filled with art galleries and venues, trendy restaurants and multi racial/cultural population. .
  • Moisés’s house is a true sanctuary. The common spaces are beautifully appointed and sun-soaked, the room is serene and quiet, and the bed is super comfy. The location is ideal as it is on a quiet, shaded street that puts you at walking/biking distance to Downtown/Uptown and West Oakland Bart. The place really felt like home thanks to Moisés’s hospitality and caring. I highly recommend his place if you're looking for a respite.

    Jesse2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Moises place is a sanctuary, truly. Gorgeous lighting, stylish yet cozy decor, refreshing breeze when you open the back door, restorative spaces like the patio/backyard and the yoga room, and it’s so quiet you would barely know you are in the city. I mean it’s like a dream really. Also the BART station Is only a 10 minute walk away, and there are bikes for rent right around the corner. I would stay there again in a flash!

    Bodra2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • I only had contact with Santiago, the co-host, but he did a really great job. He enured that I wouldn't have any problems with check-in (since he was not at home when I arrived), and made sure that I had everything I needed. He even helped me out with the print-out of some documents. The house and the room were really nice, and exactly as in the pictures and about a 10 min walk away from the BART Station. Would definitely book again or recommend to friends.

  • Great place to stay!

    Kruti Lalit2018-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • We were welcomed by Moises' secretary who he introduced over text! The house was beautiful and we enjoyed our room. Definitely a great place to stay!

    Sage2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Moisés's home was fantastic! There is a Ford GoBike docking station 2 minutes away, and biking around Oakland was perfect. The home was quiet, I had a lot of privacy, and since I'm fairly quiet when travelling on my own, it was perfect for getting some work done as well! The BART to SF is about a 10 minute walk, or 2 minute bike ride. The bathroom is top-notch, and everything I needed was provided. Highly recommended. Thanks!

    Marko2018-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Moises has a wonderful fully remodeled Victorian Style home with nearby Bart and bus transportation for travelers who want to use public transportation while visiting the Bay Area. I arrived later in the evening and Santiago greeted me warmly with the home well lit. He was very gracious to show me the features of the home and provided information about the area. The room was large with a private shower and bathroom. Moises and Santiago are wonderful hosts and I highly recommend staying with them as you will find their home to be clean, quiet and a great value.

    Joseph2018-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Moises' place was great. I absolutely loved the location and neighborhood. The house was super clean. I believe he must have remodeled it sometime very recently because everything looks new and current. It is a short walk to the closest BART station and very convenient. Moises was also beyond accommodating. I would recommend this place to anyone.

    Carlos2018-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • There was 6 of us staying for 4 nights. No extra towels or floor mats were provided. No basic hairdryer provided as well. Insufficient hangers. Shower knob was faulty and fell off many times. We were also not able to control the water temperature. There was a clear space for a washer, but it was also not provided. 6 of us stayed in the lower floor of a house, with someone else staying upstairs. However, the bed was comfortable and clean, and smart TV worked well. Would not recommend for 6 people as there is only 1 toilet. Overall it was still a pleasant stay

    Cindy2019-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Clean tidy and with enough space for our party of five. Fan in main bedroom provided relief from heat on hot days. Car simply and easily secured in the rear of the premise. The hosts were friendly and responsive. The house located in a quiet area, short walk to nearby BART and easy drive to local shops and restaurants. Enjoyed our stay in Oakland.

    Jana2019-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for a family visit, we travelled with three young kids and the house worked really well. Very clean, great to have a nice kitchen and good to have a little sitting room. Anne is quick to answer questions about the local area and fixed one small issue instantly - she couldn’t have been more helpful. As we came from overseas we didn’t have a car, but the place is really well served by train stations, with connecting bus routes metres away - the San Francisco system is very impressive when you learn about it. And most importantly of all - what a city!

    James2019-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Anne is a great hostess. She was prompt, gracious and helpful with our communications. Her place was very clean, cheery and comfortable. We would stay with her again if in the area.

Welcome to Oakland! We are renting a room in a cozy, clean, bright and charming Victorian in urban West Oakland. Near West Oakland Bart (-10 min walk) & downtown Oakland and SF. The house is a shared space with other airbnb folks looking for a quiet place after exploring the area. You have access to a common kitchen and bathroom. We live downstairs, love to BBQ and drink good wine (and share with our guests!!).
Our house has been built in 1889 by a European architect specializing in Victorian constructions in Oakland at the time.
Easy access to downtown Oakland, Fox Theater, great restaurants and bars. Close to Bart and a cheap Uber/Lyft ride to SF.
  • Our stay at the white room was very pleasant and comfortable. The house is beautiful and the room, kitchen and bathroom have a lot of personal touches which made great atmosphere. We came for a trip to San Fransisco and the house is only a short walk and a short BART ride there so it worked out great. Thank you Daphnee and Mike!

    Shir2016-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Victorian house with stylish decorations, enjoyed my time there, quiet and peaceful, close to Bart station.

    Moises2018-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Daphnee and Mike's place was just great! Good communication, we got our key without even having to disturb them. The room was perfect for a couple like me and my girlfriend, the same goes for the bathroom and the kitchen, both shared with other guests but this was never a problem. The house is located no more than 15min walking from the west Oakland Bart stop, from where you will be in San Francisco in another 15. Mike was super friendly and helpful to answer our questions, didn't have the chance to meet Daphnee but she was also very fast in responding our texts. What else to say..very recommended! Hope to see you guys in Tuscany!

    Enrico2016-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • The White Room was a fantastic place to call home for a month. I enjoyed my stay for the most part! The Pros: close to transportation/ highways downtown Oakland and SF, full kitchen, Daphnee and Mike were sure to respond quickly and help with any issues or questions, and the house is on a quiet street. The Cons: Spiders.. Had to escort a few out most nights. Woke up to one on my leg one night. You share one bathroom with three other rooms. The room faces the west so the Sun heats it up real good, which there's no AC or heat so it either works to your advantage or not. Overall it's a comfortable room with considerate hosts and that's all I was hoping for! Thanks Daphnee and Mike! Your home was really lovely.

    Sarah2016-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • I did not interact with the host/hostess very much due to my early morning departures and late night returns every day, but they were responsive to my inquiries and I got all the things I needed without difficulty. The location is in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance of the BART station and was very convenient. The room and common areas were clean and bright and I felt at home during my stay.

    Jennifer2016-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • We were extremely happy with our experience! We spent the majority of our time in San Francisco while we were there, and the close proximity to the train station made it an easy 20 min commute to downtown SF (two train stops away). Avoid walking around late at night around the house as it wasn't in the best neighbourhood, but we were aware of that before we booked. Even though we never crossed paths with Daphnee or Mike, they were very quick to respond via text about any questions we had during our stay, and they also recommended lots of things for us to do while in the bay area. We would definitely stay here again next time we are in the area!

    Milan2016-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place. 3 other rooms in the house, but you have your own space. Metal frame bed was a bit squeaky when moving around. Super charming original wood flooring and paneling. One bathroom, but a super large kitchen! Would definitely stay again.

    Tanner2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect base for visiting San Francisco or the Bay area! The accommodations are in the upper floor of a victorian era home in Oakland. Very convenient to freeways and shopping. Daphnee and Mike were gracious hosts and super non-intrusive. The room was clean, spartan and comfy. There is no air conditioning but none was needed. The small fan kept the room very comfortable. In fact, it was downright chilly in the mornings. There is a shared kitchen where we found everything we needed, including coffee and tea. The shared bathroom was clean and well stocked plus a it had a nice view of their backyard and the flowers. We would highly recommend a stay here for any travellers! Dave & Charo

Only one block from fantastic taco truck Chili Bravo and a 5 minute walk from my favorite brewery Ghost Town with $5 pints!
  • Keith makes the first floor of his two-story house available to guests. There are three rooms available in total, with a shared living room and a shared bathroom. It is located about 20-minute walk to the subway. All in all an honest performance given the hard-to-best price. Thank you!

  • I have been staying long term over the summer for an internship, and couldn't be more happy with my stay. Keith is *extremely* responsive and hospitable. • This family was very welcoming, generous and thoughtful. They brought more items(popcorn maker, water boilers, appliances, plastic ware) into a outhouse/kitchen-garage space that they created into a common space for guests! They even bought pastries at one point! The bathtub & bathroom were very clean when arrived which is a very great sign of cleanliness throughout the space. There was a fresh & vibrant feel about the room. Great sunlight & great charisma! Definitely recommend this place to stay and will be coming back when I stay in Oakland again!

  • This was a nice place and Keith was great and communicative, the only downside is the walls are kind of thin but for the price it’s definitely worth it. (When I stayed here I hadn’t slept in a few days so it bothered me slightly more than other people would be.)

2 story building in a charming tree lined street. 10 Minutes from West Oakland BART Station. 15 Minutes from San Francisco Downtown [by car]. We live upstairs, we rent out 2 rooms downstairs. This is a private room but the rest of the house is a SHARED space if you are uncomfortable with this setup this will not be a good fit. We speak English and German.
We have been restoring our home for the last 8 years and the results are truly amazing. Soft and Hardwood floors, French Doors, Sliding Doors and lots of original Charm.
  • We stayed 5 nights at Christian's place. When we arrived with the bus, he picked us up from the Bart Station, which is not far away from his accomodation. With the Bart Station, you can go to San Francisco within 10 minutes. The house was very spacious and clean. We really felt in love with the charming of the house. Christian is always in a good mood, he is helpful and a good guy to talk with. As I had problems with my foot, he gave us a ride to the pharmacy even it was late. Christian is one of the greatest host you can imagine. Hopefully we see each other again and all the best for you and Jackie.

  • Was really what I needed and wanted. This was my first AirBnB and I needed a place quickly. It was so easy to get ahold of Christian and was able to come early too. Right off the bat good energy folks great house and it felt like I had it all to myself after he showed me around the house. I felt very comfortable and quite pleased! It was like living in Oakland for a couple days. Visited Berkeley had handmade noodles from China town. They let me keep my bags there while I romped around the lake the next day before a late flight. Very accommodating very cool people. A French couple was also there but the house was so quiet and airy. They left a bottle of wine out as well. Quite a good red. Thank you for everything Christian and Jacky!! It was a great way to enjoy the East Bay!!

  • Our stay at Christian's place was ideal! Not only is his place super nice and clean, and at a great location - but we were also able to book it at the very last moment (the day before), which was a great relief. Christian made us feel very welcome, was super helpful with information, and was furthermore very accommodating with regard to check-in and check-out times. We definitely highly recommend his place, and we would certainly stay there again.

  • Zephyr and Amerin's place was absolutely wonderful! They were incredibly hospitable and were always happy to help. I stayed at the house for a couple of months with my roommate and it quickly became a home away from home. The gated parking was extremely helpful, and we always felt safe there. Not to mention the shower was amazing! I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a place to stay in Oakland.
