This clean, private, unique hotel room with shared hallway bath is a short walk to the Famous Cable Cars, Nob Hill, Public Transit, Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf, Grace Cathedral, AT&T Park, Polk Street, and more! You’ll love the place because of the location, the people, and the value! This room was recently painted and furnished with new linens. The shower and toilet are located in the hallway of the hotel. They are cleaned every day by professional cleaners.
  • Great location, good price, ideal for a quick stay!

    Zhiyang2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • For the price, I expected a low budget hostel-type setting. Instead, it was a simple, clean, private stay within walking distance of the places I needed to be.

  • Great, great location for the price. About 10 min walking to the moscone center, 5 min to china town and 15 min waling to embarcadero. Lots of restaurants and bars near by, Very safe to walk any time of the day. Bed is very clean Be aware that you might have a shared bathroom and shower. They are both located in different rooms. Restroom and shower might be busy. Bring sandals showers. It is sometimes too noisy. Great that the windows can be opened, but other guests might talk until late at night (12- 2PM). Curtain doesn't blocks the light. Bring ear buds and mask if you want to get a good sleep. TV was not working. WIFI was terrible. They told me they were in process of improving the WIFI.

    Luis2016-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • The room I stayed in was fine. Comfortable bed and pillow. The room had a big mirror, a sink, old flat-screen tv with bad reception and limited channels, no a/c, a table & chair, lamps, a dresser and a closet. Small space but not bad. The shared shower was nasty because someone was shaving in the shower and left his/her shaver as well as hair. The water was slow to drain so I ended up just washing my hair in my sink the second day. The location is great and the staff is friendly. Just be aware if you book the cheaper room with shared bathroom/shower, inconsiderate guests can really ruin your stay.

    Victor2017-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • I wanted a very economical (but clean) room within a few blocks of my business appointment, and 325 Sutter was perfect for me for two nights (well, almost perfect... had the temperature been more typically cool-ish for San Francisco at the end of September, it would have been a bit more comfortable to sleep without A/C, but I was prepared for it and made sure to bathe in cool water before retiring). The room was exactly as described and the location was incredibly convenient. The staff was very helpful. I would not have wanted to stay with shared hall baths for more than a night or two, but I am very pleased with my savings and the convenience of the location.

    Catherine2017-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This building is currently undergoing renovation on some of the same floors where guests are staying. The rooms can get quite warm, so not ideal for someone who likes it cool (or quiet as you may need to open the window).

    Kayla2017-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location! One recommendation: the hotel should improve the quality of the mattress, for long stays does not help the back.

It's a private room in a three bedroom townhouse. Washer and dryer in unit. There is very limited street parking. The bus runs every 15min to the transbay terminal. There are a lot of Uber/Lyft drivers on the island so riding into SF proper is fast and cheep. Carpool costs about $7.50. We have a back yard.

This is a no-frills but comfortable guest room in an older traditional San Francisco flat (no lift) located in the heart of the city's most popular neighborhoods and destinations. The rate reflects this value. No cleaning fee. This sunny bay windowed flat is also the permanent home to others. With only one bathroom, thoughtful consideration has to be paid to all. There also is a highly trained and loving service dog in residence who is kept out of guest rooms at all times.
SAN FRANCISCO SHORT-TERM RESIDENTIAL RENTAL REGISTRATION NUMBER STR-0001109. Possession of a San Francisco Short-Term Rental Registration Certificate certifies that the registration certificate holder has agreed to comply with the terms of the San Francisco Short-Term Residential Rental Ordinance (San Francisco Administrative Code Section 41A). This apartment is centrally located in historic and beautiful North Beach amongst cafes, restaurants, parks and historical sites. It's a short walk to Chinatown, Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf and the Financial District. The apartment is located on the second floor (walk up one flight of stairs), and has two permanent tenants. It's a private bedroom furnished with a full sized Ikea bed, dresser, armoire and a small table and chairs. It comes with its own lock and key. The room accommodates two adults and is 11 ft by 13 ft with a bay window facing onto the street. Bed linens and an electric blanket are provided. A well equipped kitchen is available. There is a small shared bathroom, with hair dryer provided. No smoking, drugs or pets. Parking is not provided. On premises host Greg works from home and therefore is quite helpful in greeting guests letting them in, getting them settled and giving them tips about the neighborhood. The check-in time is 3 pm, but we are open to other times in case of earlier arrival. Please call (no texts) at 1-415 956-1665. Check -out is at 11 am. We look forward to meeting you and helping you enjoy your time in beautiful San Francisco!
This typical for its time San Francisco two-story flat with ground level retail is located in the middle of all of North Beach's live entertainment, artists' retail, restaurants and coffee houses. Adjacent to North Beach is colorful and lively Chinatown and fun access to Fisherman's Wharf by way of historic cable cars.
  • Top location to explore the city. We had the chance to meet Irinas room mate Gregory who has welcomed us in person. He provided everything needed and was always very helpful. I think we stayed in another room than the picture indicates (they have 2) but it was a nice and typical SF room anyway. Would recommend this listing in any case.

    Chris2015-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • The room was confortable and Greg is a nice person that make us feel like home.

    Andrea2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our room was very comfortable and Greg, the caretaker, was friendly and even gave my girlfriend and me a slab of chocolate as a little welcoming gift :) The lodging reminded me of European hostels. This was my first Airbnb experience, and I was very satisfied with the arrangements. Even more so since it is very centrally located, and is an easy walk/commute to many of the places we wanted to see. And Irina was easy to work with in making the reservation and communicating in finalizing our arrival time. The only difficulties was parking (we we forced to drive into San Francisco), and, to a small extent, the need to share one bathroom with a couple of other rooms of people. But all in all, this is a great place to have as a headquarters for an exploration of the city!

    Gopal2013-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • I liked to stay at Irina and Greg very much! I just met Greg who is responsible for the host. He's a great person, very friendly and its great to chat with him. The room etc. was very clean and even big. The location of the host is great in a nice neighborhood with a lot of bars, small shops and it is very close to the coitower. I Highly recommend this host to any other traveler!

    Robert2016-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Irina's apartment was perfect for my one night stay in San Francisco. I didn't get to meet Irina, but her roommate Greg was very nice and helpful. He met me when I arrived and gave me a tour of the apartment and showed me how to use the keys. You can tell he's a pro at hosting Airbnb guests. The room was cozy and spacious and the neighborhood is cute, with lots of restaurants and shops. There is only one bathroom in the apartment, but this wasn't an issue for me since I have a short morning routine. Overall, I would highly recommend this place if you want a cost effective room in San Francisco.

    Kayla2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Although we didn't get to meet Irina. Greg was very nice.

    Jade2015-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We did not meet Irina as we were only there for a few days and she works. However we were well hosted by her co-resident who was expecting us and waited for us at the door as we arrived. He was a charming, approachable and helpful man. He did not impose himself on us but we felt we could ask him anything we needed to. He was well-organised and explained clearly all we needed to know about the accomodtion, and was willing to provide info about the area. The shared bathroom did not pose any problems, I think I had to wait about a minute, on one occasion only. The location is great, being handy for great restaurants, shops and the waterfront attractions. There is a lot more to do there than we could manage in our few days. We serendipitously pitched up at the well-known cafe Trieste as it was the closest. Look it up. The accomodation could do with a lick of paint but that will come in time no doubt. It was a good experience.

    Ronald2015-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Irina was very nice to accommodate us very last minute since my other booking was cancelled. Greg, her roommate was very nice and flexible. Regarding the room, the location is great near the coit tower. The building is a bit old, so is the room especially the carpet. But for such a price in downtown SF it's still a good deal.

  • OK alternative from the expensive SF hotels

  • Nando's place was in a convenient and nice area, check-in was also easy. The room I was in was spacious and clean. Nando himself was also prompt to respond to emails and friendly to converse with.

    Melissa2019-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is located in a strategic position to visit the city. Nando was very hospitable and also speaks Italian! However the room and the bathroom are not exactly as in the photos. Unfortunately the last night there was a problem with the other guests of the house (very noisy), which I hope was only an oversight on the part of nando.

Its all about the views. We are a back building in a funky North Beach / Telegraph Hill complex. Very safe, very secluded. The apartment downstairs is empty (and will remain so). You basically have the building to yourself.
The entrance is on Vallejo, following a long breezeway to the back. You will feel like you've entered a time warp back to old SF. The outside of the building is NOrth Beach "ramshackle" but the inside of the apt is charming and warm Exposed wood floors. large galley kitchen, single room with exposed ceiling timbers makes this feel like a loft.
Its North Beach! Grant st. is 2 blocks away, broadway, 1 block. there is a LOT of action nearby. Cafe Trieste on the corner of Grant and Vallejo is THE local morning (noon and night) hang for the local color. The Vallejo garden steps just outside the front door are a common destination for visitors. The neighbors are all very friendly and social, frequently sitting stoopside enjoying evening cocktails. Introduce yourself and join in!

  • This venue is really worth What you’re paying. Although it’s not the most comfortable accommodation, it’s location more than makes up for it, and the accommodations are very clean. I really appreciated the kind staff as I came and went. Altogether, I enjoyed my stay and would stay here again.

    Ben2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Decent hotel but good value given central location. Room was basic but for one night, it was fine. Downside was the noise from the street was disruptive although it was hot so we had the windows open

    Marielle2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • This location is great if you need to be in the middle of the financial district. This is close to a lot of good food and drink places. It's nice to walk outside and be surrounded by great culture.

    Justin2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a place to stay in a great location downtown, it's hard to beat this price, but keep in mind, there's no AC and streaming video on their WiFi is not the best (was watching UFC Saturday night and EPL Sunday morning). I made the mistake of booking without knowing their's no AC, so falling asleep took a while after a hot sunny day, but once the sun set, it wasn't a problem. My favorite things were the staff, which held my bags before check in and after check out while I explored the city, and the view from my window. If you plan to spend nearly all your time outside the room and just need a place to crash, and you're fine without AC or reliable video streaming, this is your spot. Overall, I would stay again but not in the summer, and I would plan my time better so I only come back to crash.

    Samuel2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This hotel is in a great location with friendly staff! Free parking is not available. Double room has very small beds.

    Michelle2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Be cautious that the rooms do not look like the photos. They are tiny, almost closet-sized with really uncomfortable beds and uncleaned carpeting. The bathrooms are also incredibly small, with about one square foot to move around, and funky, dirty soap and conditioner containers in the shower.

    Taylor2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Location was great but the bed was very hard almost like sleeping on wood. The room was clean and very small. I would not stay again just because of how uncomfortable the bed was.

  • Friendly staff and Kevin was always responsive to questions. Would have been nice if they had bag storage for my early arrival, however Kevin offered great alternatives. Did not ruin my stay. I understand how limited space is in California 😉

  • Well located, in Chinatown, at a 15 minutes walk to Fisherman wharf. Good to know: The apartment is on the 3rd floor with no elevator. The apartment is well equiped, elegantly decorated, with confortable beds. We appreciated the two separate bedrooms. Easy to eat at the apartment for a family of 4 if you enjoy aisan uisine with all the food available in Chinatown (very good duck at the shop near the apartment). The computer available at the apartment - very helpful! We enjoyed staying at Rick's apartment and would go back in we visit the city again.. Louise & Daniel

  • This is a great apartment in a great area! Close to everything, we loved our stay there, just wish we could have stayed for longer! Highly recommended!

    Joni2011-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a small little place right in the outskirts of Chinatown. At night, be wary of the karaokers downstairs but other than that, this place has lots of charm with amazing food nearby and easy access to hot spots in East SF.

    Jennie2018-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Sunny, beautifully decorated, and all the amenities that you might need. Close to shopping and the rich, often visceral, vibrancy of the Chinese community can be felt here. Lots of great restaurants nearby and your host Rick is so very helpful you won't be disappointed.

    Danelle2013-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot in a great location. Perfect for a 2 day visit to San Francisco - everything is withinwalking distance and Rick was very helpful with restaurant recommendations and local spots. I would definitely stay here again.

  • We can higly recommend this place for a stay when visiting San Francisco. The apartment is very clean and nicely furnished and we felt very comfortable there. Clean towels and sheets were provided. It is situated at the border to Chinatown, which means that it might be a little noisy and lively at night or in early mornings. We kept the window closed at night, so it was no problem at all for us. Earplugs are also provided if you need them :) The big advantage is the short walking distance to North Beach area with a lot of good bars, cafés and restaurants. You can also reach Fisherman's Wharf in around 20 min and Market Street in 15 min walking. Bus stops are also close, public transport is very cheap (2 dollars per ride). Unfortunately we did not meet Rick in person, but his good friend Jim, who was very helpful and friendly and also gave us some tips, where to go and what to see.

    Nicola2012-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely apartment. Clean and airy and plenty of space. Very central which makes it a little noisy, however, saying that it is also very vibrant and you don't feel isolated. There are earplugs if you need them but the double glazed windows kept out most of the noise. Excellent location.

    Patricia2013-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • I enjoyed my stay in the Grant Avenue Apartment very much. The apartment borders China town and little Italy. It is the perfect location for exploring. The apartment is in a safe location with a parking garage around the corner, which is very convenient. There are many great restaurants, bars, grocery stores right out your front door. Convenient walking to the Embarcadero as well as Union Square. The apartment looks exactly like the pictures. It is very clean and comfortable. They have paid attention to details with nice linens, ( which makes for a great night sleep) Egyptian cotton towels, toiletries, free Netflicks, as well as cable. They also have a Mac to do some research on line, so no need for your lap top. I think Rick and his wife have thought of everything for you, you just show up and enjoy the beautiful city. This my first time using Airbnb. I was so relieved to have such gracious hosts. Rick phoned me before my arrival to make sure I could find the apartment, I was having a little difficulty so I really appreciated him taking the time to talk me through the directions. Rick was also very helpful with parking information and recommendations to local eateries. I felt like I had a friend in the city to turn to with great advice about the area....priceless. Thank you Rick!!! I will be sure to share this little gem in the city with my family and friends. Angie Logan

  • Overall a great experience. No complaints from our end. Katie was very friendly and responsive which was very helpful as we were tight on time and needed immediate answers. The apartment was clean, quiet and and had all the basic amenities that you would expect. Bed and couch are comfortable and a good place to relax after a long day.

  • Great place to stay if you want a clean, fresh, cozy environment that is close to the Financial District and is a walkable distance from a lot of great places and sights. You get a nice view of the pier from the top of the hill, and the place itself was very easy to settle into, with a nice simple home-y vibe. Katie was also a fantastic and warm host! She definitely knew her stuff and gave a lot of great suggestions on where to visit from restaurants to general sightseeing. Any questions we had were answered very quickly and we could tell she wanted our stay to be as comfortable and easy as possible. Definitely recommend for anyone thinking about staying in SF!

  • Katie is a fantastic host - very communicative and welcoming. Her apartment is adorable and very bright. A perfect weekend getaway spot in the city!

  • Katie's place is comfortable, well equipted, and located just a few blocks from the center of Little Italy, Chinatown, Coit Tower and Transamerica Pyramid. Her garage made it possible for us to drive to all of SF's famous sites without worrying about parking at night. She shared her favor restaurants and bars which allowed us to hang like a local and walk home. A true cultural immersion experience !!

  • Eric is an awesome host who has a great place for you to stay in the Moscone conference center area. Eric is very friendly and invited me to a cookout they were having one night. The room is in an apartment building that has a security gate with a code and a building door with a code, so I felt very safe staying there. The room is exactly how the description described. The apartment complex has a very nice gym and swimming pool for everyone to use. There is also an onsite laundry facility. For the price, you won't find anything better in the area.

    Marc2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Eric and Tim are great hosts and very responsive to guests questions. Place is very convenient to BART Montgomery station to/from SFO airport (30 min ride) and 15 min walk from station to apartment. Central downtown place.

    Frank2019-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Loved my stay! Eric was very hospitable and friendly, always made sure I had whatever I needed. The location is perfect for public transit or walking, and there are restaurants, shopping, amenities, etc, within a few blocks in any direction. Complex was very safe and secure. My room was great -- the COMFIEST BED! Seriously, I am spoiled now. It's San Francisco, so keep in mind it's a small space, but I had plenty of room for clothes/storage in the closet, and the vanity was perfect for all my toiletries/cosmetics. Kept my window open for a breeze most of my stay since the weather was gorgeous -- there is construction nearby, which can be loud when the window is open, but disappears completely when you shut it. Large TV with access to Netflix, other apps, etc. Eric has two dogs who are very sweet, and they were kept secure they entire time I was there. I had a mini cooler in my room, perfect for water or beer, and I had access to the regular-fridge as well when I came home with leftovers. Overall, I had a fantastic stay! Truly can't be beat for the price and location. Thank's again Eric!

    Casey2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Eric is a great host. It's a stylish room in a really walkable area of the city. He has two cute pups, who you don't see unless you want to. And maybe this doesn't happen every time, but I was greeted with warm chocolate chip cookies around bed time. Amazing.

Your lovely apartment is located right off King St with immediate access to Muni and Caltrain. Super safe and quiet at night with lots of restaurants nearby. The apartment is a 2 bedrooms 2 bathrooms condo facing Oracle Park where you can spot some Giant's fans when there's game going on. It's also 15 min nice walk to new Chase Center! There's gym, heated pool and hot tub in the building for you to relax.
You will have a private bedroom with a queen bed, a cabinet and a big closet. You will have a private bathroom with bathtub, sink, toilet, washer and drier. Kitchen is fully equipped with oven, stove, microwave, fridge, dish washer, coffee maker, rice cooker, water boiler, etc. We have a big TV in the living room that you can watch anytime.
This neighborhood is called South Beach. The landmark is of course the Giant's home base Oracle Park and the beautiful harbor. There're several coffee shop downstairs (Bravado, the Bagel Bakery, Starbucks, Philz coffee, Panera Bread, etc). There're lots of restaurants within walking distance (Rooh, HBD, Garaje, Marlowe, Petit Marlowe, Nama Sushi, etc).
  • Couldn’t ask for a better place.

  • Amazing hosts, apartment and location. The apartment was so clean and comfortable. 10/10 would stay again

    Katlynn2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful, fashionable, spacious-feeling condo located directly across from Oracle Park and within walking or Ubering/Lyfting distance of many fine restaurants and attractions, such as the Museum of Ice Cream, Westfield Mall, and Japantown. I particularly enjoyed the pool/club area - it had a full kitchen along with BBQ amenities and a hot tub along with a 4' deep pool and lounge chairs. San Francisco is not known for its balmy weather but on Labor Day Weekend, we enjoyed highs in the 80s and I was able to crack the living room window to hear the game going on across the street. Anqui and Jameson were beyond helpful with regards to communication when I was stuck in traffic on the way down. They also provided a handy guide to the condo and things to do in the area via a slick red binder with full-color pages. Would stay again!

    Nora2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Such wonderful hosts and amazing location. The space was clean with terrific views. We would definitely stay here again.

    Timothy2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Anqi is super nice and accommodating! The space is clean and cozy. The location is great since it’s around Mission Bay, and is walkable distance to a lot of places like the Ferry Building. Recommend to anyone that is either visiting SF for the first time, or staying in the city for some relaxed times!

    Ivy2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Anqi's place was perfect for my week in San Francisco. The communication was amazing and she always responded very quickly to my questions that I sent through messages. It was so close to the place I was training for the week and right by the Embarcadero and so many yummy food spots so the location could not be better! The apartment itself was incredibly clean and looked exactly like the pictures. There was also a pool/hot tub and gym which was great to use. I would really recommend this place for anyone looking to stay in the city. Anqi and her husband were very friendly and sweet and made the experience wonderful. Thanks again!

  • I was staying for a night. I am happy for my choice. The staff is funny and ready to help. The beds are metallic and very strong. There are personal locks under the beds. Next time I will stay at this place as well.

    Denys2015-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Probably the best all-around hostel in San Francisco. The staff is friendly and helpful and they will warmly welcome you into the place, whether you're a bunch of European backpackers or just an odd duck passing through town. See if you can get Avi to make some pancakes for the group breakfast and ask him about his recipe...the secret is in the egg whites.

    Joe2012-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for three nights, we were very happy with their flexibility and booking process! Our room was quit small and we shared one toilet and two showers with 20 people, which doesn't help to keep it clean, but we have to say we managed not to wait for too long. Beds and rooms are ok. I would recommend it if you are aware it is a pure hostel! Btw, pictures are a bit misleading, something less cool.

    Marta2014-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great place very friendly people

    Mitchell2015-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was probably the best hostel experience I have had so far. Both the staff and other travelers were extremely friendly, the location was great (downtown SF and minutes away from Chinatown), and everything was clean. The bedrooms were a little bit cramped, but considering the price and location, it was still a great deal. I would definitely stay here again in my future trips to San Francisco.

    Tony2016-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed with Darren at the hostel for 9 nights. I met some wonderful people and had a good time. I had no problem sleeping with 6 women in a dorm, but I do use earplugs religiously! The hostel was cleaned everyday which was great. The only slight complaint would be that the hot water runs out by about lunchtime, but that was easily solved by getting up to shower earlier. I would stay here again, in fact I only left to go and stay with a friend in Potrero Hill.

    Heather2015-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • Communication was fast, Debbie accommodated our very late check in as well which was so nice. The apartment is in the perfect spot to get just about anywhere you want to go in San Francisco, compared to the price everywhere else for a room we thought it was a steal! The bed was comfortable enough and the room itself had nice big windows. Thanks for a great stay!

    Nicole2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is truly in a great location, right in the middle of everything and in a beautiful area itself. The room is exactly like on the picture, clean and well maintained. The host is a very nice person, always available to give some good advices on how to discover the city better. We had a very nice time there and we recommend this place!

    Francesca2013-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location - couldn’t be better! Cheap and cheerful! Clean room and helpful hosts! Don’t expect luxury but the value for this place for San Fran is great.

    Sarah2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I had a really nice stay here. The location is great (within walking distance of Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf), whilst Gregory was very friendly, accommodating and gave us a lot of great advice about what to visit while we were here. Further, the bedroom was very comfortable and clean. Any people driving should be aware that parking in this area is very difficult though. Overall, we had a great time and would consider staying here again if we had the opportunity to return to San Francisco.

    Luke2016-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for sightseeing! The house is a little old but it's ok. The room is very illuminated during the mornings (that's great). Housemate was a great guy.

  • Nice location close to many attractions and areas. We had however few issues with mosquitos in the room as we had to keep the windows opened for air circulation. The bed mattress could also be replaced.

  • Great place to stay out if you're in SF for a few nights. The location is really great. The only downsides are: - this part of town is a bit noisy (even late at night) - the wifi was a bit slow That being said, I highly recommend staying here.

Also available unfurnished for longer term or as a 2br using the living as the 2nd bedroom. please inquire. This is a newly redone apt with lots of light It is a 1Br with an adjoined kitchen / dining / living space. The east facing views of the Bay bridge and North Beach / Embarcadero / Financial District are wonderful, especially at night with the Bay Lights Project. There is a shared outdoor space just outside the front door. There is a washer / dryer shared with 2 other of our apartments
This is a first floor unit in a very quiet neighborhood. We have just redone it, everything is brand new as of 2/25/2017. It has a nice cozy bedroom, great for sleeping. The common area is very clean in decor with tremendous views towards downtown, the Embarcadero and the Bay bridge. There is a sofa bed that can best accomodate a single person. We prefer to rent to 2 people but can accomodate 3 people if a shorter rental. The kitchen / dining area seats 4, has a full galley kitchen with dishwasher, range, micro, garbage disposal and full size fridge. There is electric baseboard heat for those occasionally chilly SF days and nights. There is a modest outdoor seating area, a shared washer and dryer 10 feet from the front door and places to store bikes and other sporting equipment if you are here for adventure.
North Beach Original! Our end of the street is a cul de sac. Everyone knows each other and frequently hang out for wine in the evenings. You'll quickly find yourself feeling like a local. The street outside the main door is a walking stepped garden. You will find both locals and tourists hanging around but you wont find noisy cars. Its very quiet and peaceful.
  • The view from Tommy's apartment is second-to-none and wowed us every day. The apartment is well-located in SF's North Beach (albeit up some steep hills!) and surrounded by amazing restaurants, bars and shops. Tommy was very responsive and was quick to address any questions or issues we had. We were very sad to leave and will certainly miss the place.

    Jevan2018-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • I can’t express how beautiful and refreshing waking up to the beautiful bay bridge. Thomas was very helpful as well as Dennis. I would definitely stay again. I’ll just make sure to work out first. The hills are no joke!

    Joel2019-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing sunny apartment with an incredible view of the bay. The apartment had everything I needed for my 1 month stay, including laundry. The kitchen was well equipped and I was cooked quite a few meals. The walk to the apartment is steep but manageable. Thomas was very responsive and kind. I'll miss my nightly glass of wine and watching the moon rise over the Bay Bridge, who needs a TV. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

    Linda2018-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great apartment. The view of the bay and bridge are spectacular; even better than in the photos. Its a great neighborhood, which is lively but the house is in a quiet spot with respectful neighbors. The steps facing the bay are pretty serious; but there's a beautiful view from them and you can actually take a car really close to the outside entrance, which just leaves a few flights to walk up. I hope that I have the chance to return some time!

    Danny2018-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • If you are visiting San Francisco, this is the place to stay. Having previously lived in San Francisco in my past I can confidently say that the view, location, and apartment itself made for an outstanding experience. I work from home so it's important to me that space is clean, comfortable and has a nice view. All expectations in this regard were exceeded. I also cook from home and all of the kitchen essentials were available making it very easy for me. The location is a block away from all the best bars, cafes and restaurants North Beach has to offer. When I come back to San Francisco this apartment will forever be my first choice. Also, Tom was an excellent host. Really cool guy and very accommodating.

    Michael2018-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • A top 10% view of SF... maybe even higher. As other reviewers said, a lot of steps and a big hill, but it was always worth it. Thanks Tommy!

    Alex2018-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Thomas is a great person. Was always reacting to our messages within a couple moments. The tips he provided through the check-in process were great to explore North Beach. The view to Bay Bridge will be remembered forever. We had the luck to experience twice fireworks just by sitting on the couch.

  • Good experience. This hacker house was clean, and they even helped cook breakfast! My hosts were resourceful, we had a few good conversations, and everything came as expected. My only gripe was snoring roommates (note that each room is shared with up to 8 people per room) and the fire station down the street.

The breakfast was really good and you can cook the eggs the way you like , Yaaay :) I did not have to wait for along time to have a shower. The dining room is a nice place to meet new people, sing and listen to music. I like the view from the dinning room. The place is really close to many things . The coat tower is just 5 minutes walking, China town is close too, union square and many many things. The staff in the hotel are really good, they are smiling all time, and they answer any questions . I recommend this place for anyone .

  • Thanh's room is very conveniently located just a few blocks away from SF Caltrain station. It's also about halfway to Union Square, so everything in Union Square was within walking distance - a big plus for us. We had a blast in SF this weekend staying at Thanh's. Thanks for the great stay! :)

    Yongjun2014-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Thanh was very helpful and accommodating. The apartment works well for a business traveler on an extended stay.

    James2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • So let's clarify a few things. Thanh is incredibly upfront about this space, so please thoroughly read it about the size. You should understand you're getting a studio in SoMa, so the space will be tiny. But he's said that multiple times and has given the floorplan. You'll notice a trend in my review as well as this place. In everyway that Thanh could customize or provide for the space he goes above and beyond. But for the things that are completely out of his control and more on the building owners themselves, you'll see just how garbage things can be. So you can't blame him, he's just fighting a losing battle here. Pros: - Thanh is as hands on as you need him to be and very accomadating - I guess it depends on the stay but he has stocked everything. I mean everything. Room freshening spray, check. Bar and gel style soap, check. Paper towels, check. Tooth paste, basic first aid, disinfectants, tons and tons of toilet paper, even a loofah! Bath gel, conditioner and shampoo, and all good name brands too. You really don't need to travel with much in terms of basic toiletries, he's probably got you covered - The space is very well decorated, very zen in design - Good art and different decorations, again very zen - Tons of books if you're interested in nursing, there's actually some very very cool books on healthcare available - Bluray and DVD collections of a lot of classic's like Up! - Great sound system, although no input for auxiliary or BT or lightning adapters (sorry iOS folks) as far as I can tell. Otherwise it's a great Bose System. - Bed is done very well, two pillows that are soft to medium firm - Multiple blankets, duvets and fitted/flat sheet sets - Two large bath towels - Again worth mentioning, but method soap dispensers are always a plus - Includes cleaning supplies too if you need - I was working at a startup in SoMa so you literally can't get any closer to work than a location like this. And if you're a bachelor/bachelorette then this is perfect for you. And that's as much as you should be, Thanh states that this isn't a place to bring the whole family along. If you're traveling for business this has everything - High speed Wifi and Ethernet access - The kitchen even has some amount of stocking, from bread to tea! And of course you have cutlery, a dishwasher a bit on the small side (literally all that would fit a studio like this), and some cooking utensils. Thanh filled it up with useful pots as pans (and oil) as much as he could, there's not much he can work with spacewise but what he can he did great. - This could be both a pro and a con but the cabinets and the closet were quite high and there's no ladder, though I didn't need one so maybe...

    Ronobir2018-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was wonderful, it had everything I needed and so much more. I had such a great time there and Thahn brought me everything starting from toothpaste to shower gel. The upstairs rooftop has great views and the TV with Bose surround sound was great, not to mention Netflix.

    Carolyn2015-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Thanh was very accommodating and responsive whenever I had questions. The unit is exactly as described, and the location is super convenient, right next to Whole Foods, near Equinox, and near the Caltrain station.

    Teddy2016-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying at Thanh's studio apartment. It was close to everything we needed. Thanh himself was very helpful when needed. We cannot thank him enough and would recommend him to anyone. Thanks again

    Mike2015-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • Thanh's place is in a great location, about 10mins walk from the centrally-located Powell BART station. Check in/out was easy, and the unit was just as advertised. This was my first airbnb experience and it worked out perfectly. I would definitely try to stay at Thanh's place again on my next visit to San Fran.

    Paul2014-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great little spot located next to a few good bars and clubs. It was a last minute booking so I didn't give Thanh very much time to prepare and he was very accommodating. The place was missing the essentials like TP and towels but I'm sure it's only because of the timing of the booking. I recommend checking this rental out though, it has a rooftop chill spot with an unbeatable view and the apartment itself is very modern and has everything you could need including a bed, couch, kitchen, porch, and entertainment center with amazing bose surround sound and a large flat screen TV, 46 inches I think.

  • It was actually a boutique hotel, with a very good location, so close to Union Square and near to everywhere. I was upgraded to a bigger suite room. You may expect some noise from the street, while the host prepared some earplugs in the room, and you may find them very helpful.

  • Great AirBnB experience all around. My unit was in an historic hotel converted into a Wyndham timeshare. I've stayed in many of the older Union Square hotels and this is about as nice as they come -- quiet, well appointed room. Very small but quiet and well laid-out, with basics for enjoying a meal and windows that actually open. Location is great, staff was accommodating, and for you buff fitness buffs, they have a tiny but well-equipped gym with brand-new Precor equipment. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

  • Hotel like accommodations. Room assigned upon check-in. Our room was 511 and is large, but has no view. Bed was hard, but you can request a pillowtop mattress cover which solved that problem. Room is well lit and comfortable. The top floor accommodations require climbing the last floor up a winding staircase since the elevator doesn't ascend to the top. We've stayed up there many times, but those stairs can be challenging, and the room smaller, but the view is great. The facility has a lot of World Mark owners, so expect to be approached, slightly aggressively, by time-share salespersons. The hotel location is excellent! It is within an easy walk of Union Square, there are many very good local restaurants (eg: Uncle Vito's), and public transportation is easily accessible. China Town, Ferry Building, Grace Cathedral, ...and so much more are an easy walk away. The absence of Wi-Fi is a bit of a surprise, and disappointment.

  • Very clean; excellent team and amenities. Very close to the action!

  • Really great place, all you need to stay for a few days in SFO. Walking distance to Union Square, China Town, Moscone - amazing. Very nice staff, good, comfortable bed . Can be a little bit noisy for sensitive ones and rooms are really small.

  • Fantastic centralized location, very clean, very affordable.

    Lawrence2018-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Room is a little dated and small but it’s a deal for the walkability.

    Glenn2018-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place is an incredible base for a trip to SF. It’s incredibly central and walkable to much of downtown. It’s also great value for money considering the price of accommodation in the city.

Our social and vibrant hostel in downtown SF is the place to stay! We invite travelers and adventurers of all ages, from all corners of the globe, to rest their heads at this historic hostel in the heart of San Francisco. We pride ourselves on creating a community vibe and a space that encourages guests to gather together, exchange travel stories, and get to know one another.
Each room has 4-8 single beds, bunk bed style. There are five single occupancy bathrooms on each floor, each with complimentary essential oil organic lavender shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. We also have a free sauna on the top floor and massage chairs in the lobby for your every relaxation need. Our Grand Ballroom is the heart of the hostel where people play music, make friends and unforgettable memories, fall in love with the city and each other, and raise glasses in celebration. The ballroom, where musicians are always invited to play, has a pool table, ping pong table, books, games, and complimentary coffee and tea throughout the day. We provide free wi-fi throughout the hostel and also free computer use in our internet lounge. Just off of the ballroom we have a fully equipped kitchen that is open 24 hours a day for you to use. We provide a guest fridge for you to store food, liquor, whatever you want! Every morning in the ballroom we offer a free breakfast that consists of bagels, fresh fruit, organic oatmeal, yogurt, eggs, OJ, coffee and tea. We have free dinners every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. We invite guests to help cook, but of course you don’t have to cook to eat! After participating in our nightly activity, such as our famous Pub Crawl or Beer Olympics, you can get comfortable in our funky dorm rooms or cozy private rooms and enjoy our delicious free meals. If you have the time, hop on our “hostel on wheels” for a famous Green Tortoise Adventure Travel trip to Yosemite, Baja, Alaska, Burning Man, and other US National Parks! These are just a few of the reasons the Tortoise has become a legend.
Our hostel is located in the culturally rich neighborhood of North Beach (SF’s Little Italy) and borders America’s largest Chinatown. We have great food and great fun on all sides! The rhythm of the Beat poets flow in the streets outside their regular hangouts, like Vesuvio, and City Lights Bookstore, just a couple of blocks away. And we are only a 20 minute walk from the famous Fisherman’s Wharf.
  • The Green Tortoise was an awesome place to stay in. I was there for 5 days and I made many friends in the process. If you are looking for a place with friendly staff, and an engaging environment that facilitates you making new friends and memories, this is it!

  • Best hostel in SF! Free breakfast, dinner on monday, wednesday and friday night, plenty of activities, books and musical instruments, free wifi, free sona. Amazing place!

    Hubert2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I stayed overnight here in transit between Las Vegas and Napa Valley. The hostel is cute and friendly, and the staff were super attentive and happy to assist however they could.

  • It was verry good especially location!

    Dajeong2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great time. I really enjoyed going to dinner with other guests- it was much less lonely than staying by myself. Consider bringing earplugs and a face mask, especially if you sleep lightly. Everyone I roomed with was very considerate, but you are still rooming with 5 other people.

    Amelia2019-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • 100% recomendable! The cleanest hostel I have ever been before. Bathrooms impecable and they even have shampoo and conditioner for your hair, super nice people and incredible location.

    Lola2018-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Happy people, happy place! Loved the free breakfast and dinners, and thought every staff member was great. We had some flight issues, and because we cancelled and then in-cancelled in the same day, were put up in a private room. Much appreciated. Comfortable and clean, too. I would stay here again in a heart beat. Thanks for being a part of a truly awesome SF experience.

Location, Location, Location! This clean, private, unique hotel room with private full bath is a short walk to the Famous Cable Cars, Nob Hill, Public Transit, Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf, Grace Cathedral, AT&T Park, Polk Street, and more! You’ll love the place because of the location, the people, and the value!
Our location is 1 block from Chinatown and 1 block from Union Square.
  • The location was nice and convenient.

  • Enjoyed staying at 325's place. It was excellent stay. Very convenient and great amenities.

  • It's as advertised. Clean and affordable and easy to get around. Checked in late with Matt. He was top notch.

    Mike2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay if you're looking for a reasonably priced room in a convenient city location. The rooms are bare bones, but comfortable and clean, and the common areas offer a small kitchen and free coffee. Having a small fridge in the room is a nice touch! Consider bringing a power cord if you have several items to plug in; the outlets in my room were behind furniture and/or already full. Very convenient to the Montgomery BART and all Union Square shops and restaurants. Polite and helpful front desk service. Feels safe, and would be a good home base for a longer term stay.

    Brittany2017-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and close to Chinatown. And that's what we wanted. Some of the amenities were not available due to a broken pipe. The laundry and kitchen facilities were unavailable. This was only my 2nd airbnb so I am no expert, but I was taken aback that there was no soap and no drinking cups in the room. They did have shampoo as promised.

    Anita2018-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • Overall a good experience. Weekend nights can be noisy outside on the street - ear plugs would be a good idea if you’re a light sleeper.

    Tyler2018-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. A block and a half away from the entrance of China town. Very close to Union Square. A little hard to find at first. Small room and the bed is only a full bed. The window is facing an alley that was very loud at all times of the day. The room stays nice and cool.

    Vanessa2018-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect for my one night stay in SF. I needed something close to restaurants and wanted to see the city a bit in a limited amount of time. It was clean and comfortable with big windows overlooking the city below. The most important thing to me though, is safety, since I'm traveling alone. The neighborhood feels safe. I would stay there again.

  • Great location in wonderful proximity to the best of San Francisco. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend based on this.

    Lauren2018-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • 325 Sutter is a wonderful, old-fashioned hotel repurposed for modern travel needs. I loved staying here, from the extraordinarily comfortable bed (seriously, how is it so comfy? I didn’t want to get up) to the immaculate bathroom (super clean, warm shower with great water pressure). The faux hard wood floors felt great as I padded around and worked on my computer, the desk set up for my work was ergonomically perfect. I stayed on the fourth floor away from the street (and as far as one can get from the elevator, stayed next to an elevator at a Marriott once and it was a mess). I never heard any other guests, I never had any issue and I felt enormously safe (which for some people might be a concern with the homeless population in the neighborhood). This is closer to the gentrified sections of the Tenderloin District and, as such, less sketchy than if you were west of 5th. The facility itself is an oasis of modern conveniences and pristine surfaces with a hint of the early twentieth century for ambiance. I would stay at this facility again without reservation.

  • I stayed at Ray’s place for 10 weeks for a summer internship in the city. The location was perfect - close to the major freeway and walking distance from everything (eg Financial District, Union Square, Embarcadero Ferry Building, Giants Stadium, etc). The unit is in a very modern and secure building overlooking the bay, with your own room and private bathroom. The pics don’t do the view justice! It’s even better in person. Ray was the best host through my stay. His knowledge of the city is extensive and he loves to share his tips and recommendations of things to do. Throughout my stay, Ray was nothing but warm, friendly, gracious and respectful. Ray treats you like family and makes you feel right at home. The place was always thoughtfully stocked with snacks and amenities - he even restocked my bathroom with a set of fresh towels a couple weeks into my stay. I could not have asked for a more comfortable space to stay this summer. This is a rare and exceptional find for the price and location!

  • I moved to San Francisco for 4 months to complete a software training program where I was working 12+ hour days, six days a week. And I must say, the only thing that kept me sane during my time was the warm hospitality and fantastic accommodations that I could look forward to upon returning to Ray’s apartment after a long day’s work. Ray has all the basics down to a science - the bed is incredibly comfortable, the private bathroom is spacious and sparkling clean, and the washer/dryer are both very modern. Furthermore, the building itself is very nice - safe & secure, clean, and it includes a gym on the first floor. Lastly, no words nor photos do the view from Ray’s apartment justice. Just outside the nearly floor-to-ceiling windows of the dining area sits the spectacular Bay Bridge beneath which you can watch cruise ships, ferries, and sailboats pass in and out of the SF Bay. Because the bridge is so well-lit at night, it’s especially impressive after the sun goes down. Oh, and I would be remiss if I did not thank Ray for all the meals he graciously shared with me. 5/5 stars!

    Michael2019-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Ray is one of the most charismatic hosts I've met throughout my years of AirBnb stays. Ray takes an interest in getting to know his guests and making sure their stay is comfortable and enjoyable. Apart from his great hospitality, he has an encyclopedic knowledge of the bay area. Ask him where to dine, have a fun night out or what exciting day-trip options are in store for you. Can't beat the dramatic and panoramic views of his apartment, the guest room also has the most comfortable bed I ever slept on across all AirBnbs. Highly recommend staying at Ray's place!

    Tzuan2018-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • Place is neat, modern and a beautiful view ofcourse. As a guest I found everything in place from bed to laundry to essentials. Ray even fed me awesome breakfast at times and helped me to learn more about the SF culture. I'm definitely booking this for my next trip as well.

  • Ray is the best host I have met. His place is simply amazing, and I want to recommend his place to anyone who plans to stay in SF.

  • Amazing person, always available for every needs. Fantastic place where share opinion, learn American culture and enjoy the city. It’s enough to feel at “home”.

    Simone2018-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • An incredible apartment with near breath-taking views. Clean and tidy place, just couple minutes away from the water and bay bridge and very close to the amazing ferry building and the strip along the bay. The area is modern and attractive the apartment building is lush and flawless. Ray had been a fantastic host and a super guide for me new to the city. Smashed beyond my expectations of how I imagined and I was truly sad to leave.

  • Ray is the perfect host! Spent 2 months at his place everything was even better than expected, we had a lot of fun together. Be nice and polite and you will also have an amazing time with this legend.
