What you'll do
Our tour begins in the heart of the New Orleans Garden District - considered by many to be one of the best-preserved collections of historic mansions in the United States.-Originally a family plantation. To Start-We quickly arrive at the home of one of New Orleans’ oldest cemeteries - Lafayette Cemetery. Explore the grounds with your local guide, hear why these types of burials are iconic, and learn about some of the people buried here. . Next, we’ll take a stroll past gorgeous homes, some with famous Hollywood connections. To reflect the full story of The Garden District, your guide will highlight the real history and the true backbone of this historic neighborhood. Then we’ll look Across Magazine Street, where we’ll find the working-class area known as the Irish Channel. Predominantly settled by Irish immigrants, this neighborhood developed in the early 1800’s. In contrast to the palatial homes we saw earlier, your guide will take you past some of the iconic shotgun-style homes of New Orleans. Finally, we’ll take one final stroll past several more picturesque antebellum homes, making our way back close to the streetcar line. When the tour ends, you’re sure to have a newfound appreciation for the complex history and dynamic neighborhood.

The Garden District of New Orleans tour with Logan was fantastic! We were able to visit Lafayette Cemetery #1, he told us about the foundations of New Orleans and Lafayette City, he talked about the Hollywood of the South, and a bit about the Civil War. And of course, we toured the Garden District!

Our guide was Logan and he has a grad degree in history, works also at the NOMA and the WWII museum plus he is a local so he had an amazing command of the neighborhood and it’s history. The neighborhood is so gorgeous and Logan let us go off topic a lot to answer our questions whenever they came up. It helped that there were only two of us in the tour.

This was my second tour I took after the one on the first day with Maggie. She made it much easier for me so I decided to do it again on day 2. She was an absolute delight. She knew absolutely everything about her city and I could see she loves her job and the city she lives in. She took me to all the major spots and was easily available throughout the day. She gave me suggestions for everything starting from what to see, to where to shop and even where to eat. Loved the tour and would absolutely text her if I went back again.
