What you'll do

This experience is based on the new kid’s book “Paco & Camelia: The Venus’ Mystery and Other Secrets.” Available in English and Italian, the book follows a group of animals who cook up wild adventures and live first-hand the magic of Florence's rich history. To kick off, each guest will get a copy of the book. We’ll then walk around the Oltrarno neighborhood from 11am to 11:45pm, during which we'll go on an interactive"hunt" for places that are protagonists in Paco & Camelia, including Ponte Vecchio, Palazzo Pitti, Piazza Santo Spirito & Piazza del Carmine (not a historic tour). At 11:45am we'll go to ‘O Munaciello, one of the city’s most famous restaurants! Located at the enchanting ex-horse stables of a 15th century basilica, there we will get an interactive, hands-on lesson on how to make a perfect pizza followed by lunch! For dessert (1:45pm-3pm), we'll head to Pasticceria Buonamici: a local bakery founded in 1949. Inside it's lab we'll get a baking lesson and make “Paco cookies”... we'll also receive a gift bag of cantucci, the traditional Tuscan biscotti they're famous for! Then, you’ll set off on your own to read Paco & Camelia and see Florence through a new lens!

Francesco

My name is Francesco, a native Florentine. I have lived in Florence my entire life, although I spent a few months living in New York City. I am the author of a magical book for kids set in Florence titled "Paco & Camelia: The Venus' Mystery and Other Secrets." My favorite thing to do is to meet people from around the world, and to help them explore the "real" Florence... Especially in my neighborhood, Oltrarno, which I consider to be the most authentic and beautiful... and where Paco & Camelia is set! I look forward to meeting you and help make your visit a memorable one!

Where you'll be

We will meet on the riverside, a spot with a beautiful view of Ponte Vecchio. I'll point out where Paco & Camelia live (yes, they live on Ponte Vecchio!) and then we will go on a stroll through Oltrarno on an interactive hunt for landmarks (this is not a historic tour, but rather a stroll around the neighborhood to admire landmarks), have lunch at the famous O'Munaciello restaurant and end the afternoon at the cozy Pasticceria Buonamici.
