About your host

Serving as a radio host for two decades, and playing in places like Mali, Brazil, Cuba and India, have given me the best friends in the world. These friendships have enabled me to work with over 50 Grammy Award winning artists and to produce epic events like the 24 Hour Ragas Live Festival, which features over 70 musicians. This network of friends are the heart of this series. In NYC I'm best…

What we’ll do

In a chapel built in the 1860's, housed above tunnels believed to be part of the Underground Railroad, we feature world-class musicians from all corners of the globe. During a set break we'll relax in the courtyard where you can meet the artists and other like-minded souls. We celebrate the roots of Brooklyn's diverse cultural fabric and draw a diverse, local audience to see authentic world…

What else you should know

Feel free to bring your own beer and wine, but please no drinking in the chapel—there is a courtyard to enjoy your drinks. Smoking has to be off premises (the place is still run by nuns).

What I’ll provide

Snacks
Light refreshements

What to bring

Bring a light jacket if you want to hang in the courtyard during the break.

Where you'll be

This historic convent takes up almost an entire city block. Mercy Home was built in 1862 by the Sisters of Mercy, who were known throughout Brooklyn for their compassion, kindness, and the tunnel in the basement that was rumored to be an Underground Railroad station.
