What you'll do

The Puget Sound area has an incredible setting of beautiful waters surrounded by soaring mountain ranges. It’s a dynamic setting with habitats changing all of the time and different types of birds and wildlife showing up for all seasons of the year. We’ll meet at the Vashon north end ferry dock and also visit some of the Island's ponds and beaches. We well walk easy trails to enjoy the area’s prolific birds and wildlife. The focus will primarily involve birds, but marine mammals, other wildlife, and plant life may catch our attention as well. We’ll start each two or three hour walking tour with a discussion of the natural setting, what might be seen, and why at that time of year. I can tailor each experience to what you want to see whether it is a particular target species or to find as many species as possible in the time available. I will provide a checklist and bring a field guide for your reference. Trails will be easy and generally paved. Distances are one to three miles to provide ample time to enjoy each species we find. There are excellent opportunities for photographs. At the end, I will provide you with a written summary of what we saw.
