What you'll do
Just an hour by train from Seoul(Yongsan Station or Cheongnyangni Station) is the lakeside city of Chuncheon. We'll meet at Namchuncheon Station. Back at my studio you'll meet my family and we'll enjoy some warm omija tea while we take some time to get to know each other. I'll tell you about my musical career and the process of training to become a traditional musician. Then we'll play some Korean folk songs. I'll teach you unique Korean rhythms with a traditional Janggu drum. You'll also learn about the form of musical storytelling called Pansori, a part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage list. I'll also give you pictures to bring home with you.
I'm a professional Korean pansori singer. I’m passionate about performing as well as teaching people. I've been singing pansori for 20 years and I love to introduce people to its beauty. Now that my kids are grown up, I thought this would be something enjoyable that we can do together as a team. So we invite you into my studio to share in our lives. Everyone is welcome.
Where you'll be
My studio is in Chuncheon. The area's trees and mountains will give you peace of mind. We recommend you visit other places in Chuncheon during your visit.
