We wanted to visit the Cobá and Tulum ruins with an English-speaking guide but all the big commercial tours felt like they were for fast Insta photos rather than deep learning or memorable experiences. They also required leaving any hotel super early in the morning. In contrast, Alejandra communicated with us so personally in advance to understand what we really hoped for - a later start, slow pace, thought-provoking perspectives on ancient and modern Mayan culture(s), knowledgeable insights on the nature and evolution of the region, and local tips, along with pure kindness and integrity. We truly couldn’t recommend her more - as a tour guide and lovely person to meet.
(The tacos in town were a nice snack, but we regret not opting for lunch in a local Mayan village - both to meet the indigenous community and for the food. Don’t miss out like we did!)
