About your host

I'm the fourth generation of Japanese traditional paper distributor in our washi company, Oue. When I was at university, I traveled for six months to India, Europe, and West Asia. After graduating, I worked at a travel agency. Now, I'm in the family washi business making paper products.

What we’ll do

We'll make two books from traditional Japanese paper, known as washi. First, we’ll make your own notebook. You can choose which washi you like from paper from all over Japan, and I’ll bind the paper for you. Next, you’ll make a goshuin book, which is designed to hold insignia stamps. You can choose the cover from beautiful washi, and cut and paste to make a washi accordion book. Goshuin are holy…

What else you should know

There is an additional fee for goshuin stamps in Shitennoji.
