What you'll do

This tour will bring you through a whole history of the city beginning at Dublin Castle and guiding you through the cities medieval history, into the Irish revolution and straight into the modern day. We will begin a Dublin Castle and see why Dublin was an ideal place for the Vikings to settle here and why this site was instrumental to colonial rule in Ireland. Following this you will get a crash course in the Irish Language and how Dublin got its name. Moving into the Medieval Quarter of the city we will look at Christchurch Cathedral its history from the Viking city to the Norman conquest and why the Church is responsible for the area around it being called Hell in the 1700's. As we move into Temple Bar, we will stop into a traditional pub which was also the site of the Cranberries first Dublin gig in the early 90's. A pint, Irish Coffee or refreshment will be provided to everybody. On the second half of the tour we will look at some of Dublin's weirder characters such as 'Bang Bang' and 'The Man on the Bridge' before moving into Dublin's revolutionary history in the wake of the Great Famine in Ireland. Outside the GPO on O'Connell St, you will here about how a failed rebellion sparked a revolution and led to independence in 1922. Finally we will finish with one of the strangest stories of Dublin on O'Connell Bridge. Lets keep this one secret for now.
