What you'll do

1. I will welcome you at the entrance of the olive grove of Son Moragues in Valldemossa. Our “Possession”, an ancestral Mallorcan farmstead is the doorway to the spectacular Unesco Heritade of the Tramuntana. 2. We will climb the gentle terraces of the olive grove to reach a viewpoint favoured by the Archduke of Austria, one-time owner of Son Moragues. From there, you will discover the many facets of olive growing in the Tramuntana. We will discover the human, social, historical and sometimes even spiritual aspects of growing olives and producing olive oil in the Mediterranean. 3. You will discover an olive grove where past and present have joined for the greater benefit of all, the land, the trees, animals and humans. Inspired and guided by ancient agricultural wisdom yet grateful to modern technology, we have restored Son Moragues to its former glory and we wish to share our success with you. 4. On our slow descent back to the village, we will talk about the processes involved in the making of our prize-winning organic olive oil. 5. We will end our Tour in our Food Lab in the village of Valldemossa with a guided and informative olive oil tasting. You will also try our homemade organic jams with rustic Mallorca bread.

Your hosts

My name is Barbara. I am a trained Sommelier, and I have worked in the majorcan culinary world for 15 years. After working in a winery in the town of Binissalem leading tours and wine tastings , I have set up my own company organising events. I have worked alongside many very talented and like minded professionals whose desire was to present Mallorca's culinary treasures to the world. I was born in Italy and grew up in Greece and I have learned the Universal language of food from a very young age. Terroirs of the Mediterranean have always fascinated me and I have found in Mallorca the perfect distillation of History, Nature and Food. For the past two years I have had a wonderful experience offering olive Oil Tours in the Son Moragues Estate in Valldemossa here in Mallorca and I am very happy to share this Treasure with you.

Where you'll be

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to discover the olive grove of the Son Moragues Estate in Valldemossa. Founded at the beginning of the 14th century, Son Moragues is a beacon of agricultural revival in the Tramuntana mountain of Mallorca, as since 2006, immense efforts have been put into reviving the abandoned olive grove. We will end the tour in the Son Moragues Food Lab an exclusive show cooking location in the village of Valldemossa.
