What you'll do

Create a piece of Western Australia to marvel at in your own home years after you visit. This workshop will be diving straight into a world of creation where you will produce your masterpiece. Using 100% cotton fabrics with beautiful Australian native flora and fauna prints or Aboriginal art prints. At Studio Thimbles located in the heart of Subiaco you will learn to make an eco-friendly, versatile and trendy tote bag. This 2-2.5 hour workshop is suitable for beginners who would like to dive into the magical world of ‘handmade.’ Anyone over the age of 10 years old will be suitable and all materials needed are included. During the time light snacks will also be provided. Participants are also encouraged to personalise their work by embroidering their name. As the workshop is run in small groups this guarantees individual tutoring to each person. Those who have completed previous workshops have found this to be a very fulfilling experience, ending with an amazing sense of achievement! Not only will you take home a tote bag but also new skills which will allow you to recreate this project. You will find Studio Thimbles on busy Rokeby Road minutes from the train station in Subiaco. It is a slice of peace and quiet in a bustling setting.

Olga

My name is Olga, I am the owner of Studio Thimbles. It is where I can connect my two greatest passions – sewing and connecting with people through teaching and creating together. With more than 20000 sewing hours under my belt, my vast experience allows me to teach all people beginner sewing skills and allow others to feel the magic of creating something for yourself from a raw piece of fabric. For me, sewing is about taking time for myself from my busy schedule and losing myself to the art of creating through sewing. While I am sewing, I am engaged in the present moment which is grounding and peaceful. Sewing is like meditation and a therapy for me. I have a passion for teaching and passing on my tips and secrets. Come and join me for a beginners sewing workshop and have an amazing experience working and creating together!

Where you'll be

Find my studio in the heart of Subiaco on busy Rokeby Rd but hidden away from noise and crowd. It’s located in the building constructed in early 1900 which represents the historic development of Rokeby Road as a commercial street. It is a visually imposing commercial building in the Federation Free Classical style. After workshop you can wander Rokeby road which is a great way to capture local atmosphere, sample local food and browse unique shops
