About your host

As the great great granddaughter of one of Niagara's first farmers I've grown up to be passionate about the role of local markets in our culinary culture. I've lived and traveled all over the world, and have found that a city's market provides the best example of it's cuisines, along with the opportunity to meet the men and women who shape it. Since moving back to Toronto I take great pleasure…

What we’ll do

St. Lawrence Market has shaped Toronto's culinary culture for over 200 years, and I'd love to show you around the market, introduce you to a producer or two, sample a variety of treats, and finish with the most famous sandwich in Canada - a peameal bacon sandwich from Carousel Bakery. Complimentary samples will vary based on availability. Your peameal bacon sandwich will be provided at the end…

What else you should know

Where you'll be

We will visit a selection of butchers, cheesemongers, fishmongers and bakers in the main market hall. Many of the vendors have sold their wares at St. Lawrence market for generations, and you'll have the opportunity to meet a handful of these producers. We'll also visit the farmers market behind the main hall, where farmers from across Ontario come to sell. We'll conclude our visit with a stop at Carousel Bakery for a world famous sandwich.
