What you'll do
We’ll meet at L’Olivo Italiano, my language school. The school is located up in the hills just outside Florence in a historical medieval building with a breathtaking view of the city centre of Florence. There, after a coffee, we’ll start an Italian lesson of two hours where I’ll teach you some of the Italian words and expressions you need for shopping: greetings, ask for a price, order things and/or food, to thank, to know Italian practices and customs for shopping. After the lesson we’ll head to a local market nearby to put in practice what you’ll learn while shopping. We’ll end the morning tasting the typical lampredotto sandwich and a glass of wine.
My name is Irene, I was born and grew up in Florence. Since I was a child, I’ve been interested in languages and foreign cultures. My passion for languages led me to the University of Bologna-Forlì, where I hold a degree in Interpretation and translation. I became aware of my desire to teach my native language and I attended a course for teaching Italian as Foreign Language, obtaining the certificate in Teaching Italian as Second Language (DITALS) from the University for Foreigners of Siena. Since then, I have been teaching Italian to foreigners with passion.

Where you'll be
First we’ll be at the Antico Spedale del Bigallo for the italian lesson. It is a historical building in Bagno a Ripoli, back in medieval days it was a monastery and shelter for pilgrims, nowadays it hosts our language school and a hostel. After the lesson we’ll go to the small and typical local market to practise your new skill while shopping and having lunch.
