What you'll do
On a late afternoon in The Netherlands, you and up to 24 other guests from around the world will make their way to Wormerveer, by train, car, bike, Uber, taxi, tuk-tuk, boat or on foot just North of Amsterdam on the Zaan River to be part of the centuries-old tradition of a Conversational salon. You will stop at a 112-Year-old Pirate ship to meet your Discussion Guide and get acquainted. If there are less than 15, we will stay on the ship. If there are more, we will eventually move on to a larger Pancake ship. (A ship that makes Dutch sweet and savory pancakes.) Regardless of which ship we are on, we will eat, drink, and discuss topics that will be as diverse as the people who come to listen and discuss. The intention is to have fun and explore conversations with people from all over the world and to inspire people to reveal their inner passions and quirky interests and to stimulate conversation and civil debate. The main conversations with everyone will end with dinner. After that, you may stay an mingle up to 11:00 PM. Although this is about good conversation food and connection, I am pretty sure it might also create new lifetime friends for some. Please join us!
I have been hosting salons in apartments or houses from the early the seventies. It has been a part of my life before I knew it had a name. I'm a semiretired lawyer, taught law, have worked and walked alone with tigers in a forest. was a musician, a Vietnamese translator, a waiter and I travel. When I travel I find it hard to meet people and see how they live, so now I connect people who want to learn and talk with other people who live lives very different from their own, or perhaps very similar, but with cultural differences. Amsterdam. What better place to have a Conversational Solon?
six drinks. Meal snacks. Let me know if there is anything you can't or won't eat.

Where you'll be
I live on an insanely romantic thirty meters long, 112-year-old pirate ship moored in Wormerveer just North of Amsterdam on the Zaan River in the Netherlands, an easy 15 kilometres from the city. The village is a really good place that is quiet and charming. It is very nice to walk next to the Zaan, and on most afternoons you will be greeted by the smell of chocolate. We will make a short walk to the very Dutch Pancake ship as well.
