What you'll do

Through a selection of images and videos you'll virtually dive into the clear warm waters of a Mozambican marine reserve—home to some very large fish, and even larger sharks.

We'll meet the sharky subjects of 12 years of research and uncover new information on the movement, personalities, and behaviours of the bull shark, their shark cousins, and their favourite food—the mighty giant trevally.

Through this live online experience, you’ll venture out on and under the water to tag and track large sharks. Once we find them, we’ll take skin and blood samples and implant satellite, acoustic, and archival tags.

After we get to know the subjects, you'll learn the logistics of filming them in the water and have all of your burning questions answered (Are sharks aggressive? Do we really want MORE sharks in the ocean!?).

Most importantly, you’ll become part of our efforts to protect and restore marine ecosystems and understand how you can have a positive influence on the world around you.

I’m a passionate marine biologist, eco-optimist, shark guy, and new father. After completing my master’s in marine biology, I co-founded ongoing shark research programs in South Africa and Mozambique. I now support my passions through informed tourism; working on Blue Chip film productions; and supporting research and conservation of sharks and big fish.

My lifelong passion has taken me to work on manta rays in the Seychelles; dugongs in Florida; giant trevally, tiger sharks, and bull sharks in Mozambique; the great sardine run in South Africa; and most recently, the vibrant coastline around Cape Town, South Africa.

I have many experiences, stories, and photos to share.....and answers to most of your questions!

This experience was amazing! I wasn't sure what to expect from a shark scientist sitting behind a desk but it was so much more than that! Justin was friendly, engaged with the participants and actively encouraged questions which really makes you feel involved. Fully recommend and well worth the money - thanks Justin!

My 7yo was lucky to be in a group of kids for this experience. Justin went out of the way to get to know the group and was able to customize the content for kids. It was a five-star experince and Justin is a top notch shark scientist.

My 8-year-old loves sharks and absolutely loved this experience. I invited other moms to join the class, and it ended up being a class of just kids. They had a wonderful time. Justin was engaging, warm, and patient. My son wants to do this again someday, and wishes it were a weekly thing.
