What you'll do
After retiring from my athletic career as an Olympian, I set my sights on a new career as a commercial pilot. During my flight training, there have been many moments of extreme intensity where I’ve had to not only perform under pressure but also excel. This is when I realized that my experience as an Olympian and the strategies I developed and mastered for succeeding under pressure are completely transferable to any stressful situation. In this online experience, you'll tell me about the particular event you’d like to perform and excel in. Whether it’s an interview for your dream job, a career-making presentation, a high-stakes sporting event, or anything else, I want to help you do your absolute best. If it's important to you, it's important to me. I’ll share the special techniques I’ve learned over the years that have helped me in the build-up to the big day and on the day itself. From there, we’ll discuss how to apply these strategies to your own situation to make sure you outperform on your big day.

My name is Matthew, and I’ve competed in four Olympic Games (Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, London 2012, and Rio 2016) as a member of Great Britain’s rowing team. During my 16-year career with the rowing team, I achieved the complete set of Olympic medals, winning the bronze (2012), silver (2008), and finally the gold at the 2016 Games in rowing’s blue-ribbon event (the eight). In addition to my Olympic achievements, I’ve also been a multiple World and European Champion as well as a British record holder. Since retiring from rowing, I’ve been sharing my passion for the sport through coaching and mentoring young athletes and speaking at motivational and team-building events. For the past two years, I’ve been using what I've learned from high-pressure situations as an Olympian to train as a commercial pilot.
