What you'll do

The Sunday Times in 2018 named this small historic town of Bungay, as one of the best places to live in Britain.

Bungay borders on Norfolk and is separated by the River Waveney and surrounded by nature in its purest form.
Its attractive location, and the wealth of historical sites, make Bungay one of the most fascinating towns in “secret" Suffolk.
The town centre of Bungay has been recognised as a conservation area by English Heritage.

From this fascinating historical location and from a Georgian house from the 17th.century, steeped in history, is the place from where we would like to meet you, and make you feel and live a “different and interesting” experience.

Our experience includes:

• Show our guests our residence, and explain its fascinating history. In our house, called “The Music House”, the famous French writer, historian, politician, diplomat and founder of the Romanticism in French Literature - Francois-René de Chateaubriand – resided during his exile from France

• We offer you an “international” lunch, during which you can enjoy a true experience in a historic house in the English countryside located in the historic town centre of Bungay.
The lunch includes a starter, a main course, a dessert, wine and an Italian coffee

• We explain our guests, basic notions of international etiquette

• We walk our guests through the highlights of Bungay
Other things to note

My name is Edda, and I am a senior hotel manager and expert in the hotel and tourism sector and have my own Consultancy. In 2005, I opened my own International Etiquette Academy in Milan (Italy).
I wrote a book called "Business & Etiquette", released by the best technical publisher in Italy - Hoepli Editore in 2011.

I define myself as “an international person", as different cultures run in my blood, and since a very young age, together with my family, I undertook a journey to the "old continent, called Europe". As an extra tip, I can tell you that I have lived in eight different countries.

My life has led me to study, work, know, interact, negotiate and socialise with a great number of different cultures, something that has always fascinated me.
In 2012, I moved to England, where I currently live with my partner Richard.

A pleasant way to pass a few hours - gentle walk around picturesque town, with a bit of history and good conversation. Edda is an interesting and well traveled lady - enjoyed her company and her cooking. Home made pate, tasty butternut squash soup, great pesto pasta and a gorgeous chocolate pot with orange polenta biscuits. Mildly eccentric, decidedly British, and nothing negative to say at all. Glad the sun came out for us - made it an altogether pleasant day out.

This is a really special experience. What a fabulous way to spend 4 hours. Edda welcomed us warmly and took us to see all sorts of hidden places in Bungay - things you would walk right by if you didn’t know they were there. She is hugely knowledgeable about the history of the town, the people who have lived there and her amazing house. On top of that she’s a super cook! We drove home delighted with our day. Thank you Edda!

From our very first communications to actually meeting Edda, we knew we would be very well looked after. We had to arrange a dog sitter and with Edda's help our dog had a good a time as we did. The Bungay tour was thorough, we had a lovely walk with Edda and her insite to the many stops around the town. Unfortunately some of the historical sites were not acessible which was a shame. We had the most amazing 3 course lunch at The Music House - Edda's residence. We heard wonderful stories about Chateaux Brianne, how he came to Bungay and how the residences had changed. All in all, a lovely way to spend an afternoon with Edda and hear about her and all the research into her Suffolk with Style tour.

This was a wonderful way to spend 4 hours! A gentle guided tour around Bungay's 'hot-spots' followed by a delicious, refined 3-course meal in the host's intriguing home interspersed with fascinating facts about Chauteaubriand's many visits there! If you're a visitor to Bungay and want to immerse yourself in something stylish and a little different, then this is a wonderful experience!
