About your host

We are members of the Airbnb community with five units that we rent out, two of which are at the departure point. We love meeting people and showing them our vantage point of Fort Lauderdale. Jim has traveled all over the world to over 40 countries and has kayaked in several spots globally.

What we’ll do

The best way to explore Fort Lauderdale, also called the "Venice of the Americas," is by boat. So, we will take a kayak up and down Tarpon River. We will see lush vegetation, nice yachts, beautiful homes, and even a shipwreck along the way.

What else you should know

Please let us know if you will need parking as driveway space is limited and tight. We recommend wearing a bathing suit. Bring a camera and sunscreen, but remember you will likely get a little wet.

Where you'll be

Tarpon River connects with New River in downtown Fort Lauderdale at two spots, creating an island just south of downtown. We will cover three-quarters of a mile—one and a half in total—along Tarpon River, starting at Davie Boulevard and ending at the west mouth of New River. This stretch is extremely calm with no currents. We will see iguanas, birds, other wildlife, beautiful yachts, and a small shipwreck.
