About your host

Former College Professor teaching Urban and Cultural Studies. 25 years as a museum docent. My curiosity about what shapes us has lead me to believe that art is an important element in creating empathy and it is nowhere as powerful as it is in San Francisco. It is the soul of our city! In discovering this city you will also discover surprising insights about yourself

What we’ll do

With a constant and best view of The Bridge and the Bay we will be immersed in the cultural and historical context of Fort Mason. Offering museums, galleries & art schools the former military facility will claim our attention as a place of discovery and adventure. Culinary treats are available - coffee in the library/studio of the Long Now Foundation, where you can learn about a multi century…

What else you should know

We'll be close to the water so you will need a sweater and or wind breaker, comfortable shoes and bottled water. Fort Mason has excellent restaurants and I will offer suggestions on what to do after

Fort Mason will be the sole focus of this experience. I'll share history, and you will be part of a waterfront lifestyle that has held the attention of San Franiscans for all of the 20th century. The reconfiguring of military facilities has been one of the hallmarks of this city's evolution as a modern beacon of play and learning
