What you'll do
Although I've now found a way (and always learning) to do everything, I sometimes need a little help. I know my process is different to everyone else's but the outcome is often the same. I want to share with you all of the adaptations and prosthetic limbs that I use to successfully complete every activity. Some of the things l'll show you I have had to make myself because you can't buy it off the shelf. Although I'm missing my left arm, I spent 2 years at college and am a qualified 'Carpenter and Joiner'. I challenge you to try and find another Paralympic Carpenter! Remember this is a show and tell online experience, so come prepared with lots of questions and curiosity, lots of ideas of what I could use the adaptations for that I show you before I reveal the answers, and a creative mind for what I'm missing in my collection of prosthetic limbs. You won't offend me; so this is your opportunity to ask me any questions about being born and growing up missing my left arm, and the adaptations that I've used throughout my life. I look forward to seeing you soon!

I was born with no left forearm but was brought up to believe there was no such word as can't. Through lots of hard work and being passion about sport, I went on to represent Great Britain at the highest level for 15years. David is a 2 x Paralympian in Swimming & Triathlon, World & European Medallist, British Champion and was TeamGB's Youngest Athlete at the Athens 2004 Paralympics and Top 10 Finisher in the Rio de Janerio 2016 Paralympic Games. My parents used to watch me struggle when I was a little boy when I was learning to do simple tasks and let me discover for myself a solution and a way to do things. They would only ever intervene if I was really struggling but they never did anything for me and taught me to be resilient, determined and very independent. I'm so thankful to my family for shaping me into the person I am today.
