What you'll do
Find out where the locals eat. Along with my partner, your local Mexican foodie guide, join me for amazing tacos and Mexican street eats in Playa del Carmen. Be sure to come hungry. Even though these are tastings you will have a full belly by the end. This culinary visit will give you a taste of the various regional cuisines of Mexico all in the heart of downtown Playa del Carmen. We aim to get you away from the tourist mainstays and off of the famous 5th Avenue shopping mall. Additionally, you will also get to visit an open-air market and discover the ingredients of all the great food you will be eating.
I'm the founder of Cozumel Chef. Engineer turned pro-chef, I left my corporate job for a life in Mexico to start a chef business some years ago. After cooking privately, I started a food tour in Cozumel. This tour took off so I expanded my offerings here to share my love of food. With a growing business, I found a passionate guide to help. She comes from a traditional Mexican family and is enthusiastic about food. Her family owned a taco stand in Huatulco. She has been guiding the visit for a few years. We can't wait to host you and take you to our authentic off-the-beaten-path street vendors.

Where you'll be
Following introductions and a brief discussion of Mexico and its various cuisine regions, we will officially start the visit with the Yucatan's favorite taco—cochinita pibil. The visit will then take you to Mexico City, metaphorically speaking, with a taste of authentic quesadillas. Be sure to savor those homemade tortillas. Mid-visit we will take a break from the food and go to the local market. Other stops include pozole, carnitas, and paletas.
