What we’ll do

If you are interested in the history of modern Japanese architecture, you must know several famous buildings. One is Nakagin Capsule Tower (1972) by Kisho Kurokawa and the other is Shizuoka Shimbun Broadcasting building(1967) by Kenzo Tange, those are representative of the Metabolism Movement of the 1960s and 70s. What else you should know

You cannot enter the inside of the Capsule tower. It is prohibited to take pictures inside the Cathedral.

Where you'll be

We will meet at Shimbashi Station. On the way to Nakagin Capsule Tower, we will stop by the Shizuoka Shimbun building by Kenzo Tange, which also features Metabolism architecture. Then we will go to St. Mary’s Cathedral by using Yurikamome—the new transportation system that goes through Tokyo Bay, the manmade island of Odaiba, and Rainbow Bridge.
