What you'll do

During this experience, I will teach you how to make the best Japanese Gyoza at home. Gyoza is the Japanese young cousin of the original Chinese “Jiaozi”. Japanese Gyoza, as well as Ramen, became very different from the old Chinese variation and can be considered as original Japanese dishes. Every travelers love them! In particular, Japanese Gyoza`s taste is unique and delicate, and this recipe it easy to make once back at home! We will start preparing the menu together, which will consist of: 2 different variation of Gyoza: Shrimp Gyoza and Meat Gyoza; Tantanmen Ramen; You will enjoy your meal together with a Umeshu Soda. Once you will be finished with the lunch, we'll visit some typical shops around my area and a supermarket where I will give you some useful tips about must-to-buy ingredients.

Michiko

I live in Tokyo, but I'm originally from Kanazawa—known as the little Kyoto and famous for its sushi—and I grew up near the sea. I like to travel and I've lived in the United Kingdom and China. I've also visited France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Korea, Australia, and Hawaii. I've met a lot of people while traveling and have always had great experience with them. I enjoy learning about different cultures, local foods, and the typical style of living. I'm fun, open-minded, a food lover, of course, and a cooking teacher. Let's cook together!
