What you'll do

Budapest has a very rich history of Jewish life, starting in the early 19th century. You will have the opportunity to learn about Jewish life, the development of different streams, the „golden age” and the times of raising antisemitism and the war, followed by the communist era, and today’s communities, and Jewish revival. We will see synagogues (we won't enter the big one, they have their own special tours), but we will enter the less known Orthodox synagogue and we'll see buildings related to them, such as the mikve (traditional bathing place), the old Talmud Torah study house, or the remains of the ghetto wall. But today, this district is a lot more than that. Not only it became the party district where thousands of young tourist come every year to discover the ruin bars, the restaurants and the small design shops, it is also reawakening its Jewish roots, and now we can see Jewish style restaurants, kosher bakery stores and pizzerias, small pastry shops with Hungarian Jewish desserts, which we will be able to have a taste of, and many other surprises wait for the visitors. I will be happy to share my story with you, and my personal experiences as a young Jew in Budapest.

I'm a psychologist and a freelance tour guide, singer, language teacher, and coordinator of a grass-root, young, Jewish community of Budapest. I have been showing around the Jewish Budapest for quite a while now, and I'm always happy to spice it up with personal stories and current events, get into exciting discussions with you, personalize the tour to your interests, and share unique little facts that you can only hear from a local.
