Washoku, Miso Tasting with a Sommelier

Before we start cooking, how about going to a super market together? There may be vegetable that you have never seen or cooked. Whenever I go on a trip abroad, I like to stop by a local supermarket, as it looks like a treasure box for me! Sweets are also interesting! After that we will cook my favorite washoku…

I am a miso sommelier in Tokyo. I love cooking and also my major is chemistry. Cooking is like doing experiments! In 2013-2015, I lived in Boston in the U.S. with my husband. I often invited my local friends and taught how to cook Washoku (Japanese food). I was so happy to share how wonderful Washoku is. Since then, I have wanted to do a cooking class at my house in Tokyo too, and finally have started it! I have strong passion for miso, as my grandfather and dad used to run a miso company. So I was a child who really loved the smell of fermentation:) I'm also familiar with Yanesen area. FYI: If you are planning on visiting Kyoto, stop by a miso shop there. You can taste lots of miso, and find your original miso by blending some miso:)
