What you'll do

Have a cup of tea with me at my place with my granny's china, a view of the castle in an original "platte," and get to know the birthplace of Berlin in an authentic way. We'll walk off our energy on a sight-filled path accompanied by substantial yet fun and passionately-told stories about Berlin's historical center, like the castle, television tower, and Hackescher Markt/Jewish Quarter. On our way north to the most controversial quarter—and home base of my family for almost four generations—Prenzlauer Berg, we'll have some ice cream at my favorite parlor that has won prizes for their flavor inventions. We'll get to know about an old silent movie cinema and some Berlin film industry history. Then you will walk in my footsteps when I was a child, and hear stories of my family in Prenzlauer Berg while getting to know some historical info about that famous neighborhood. After about three hours, we will end the excursion at the Kulturbrauerei, where you will have many opportunities to either go for dinner, into a bar, watch a movie at the local cinema, eat a proper currywurst, or just go window shopping.

Zoey

I am a fourth generation Berliner who was born in 1982 in the former East Berlin. As a world-traveler who knows what it is like to be a tourist, I open my home to you for a tea party with my granny's china in an original plattenbau—a typical East Berlin concrete-slab apartment building with a castle and river view. See Berlin through the eyes of a true local who has been professionally guiding tourists through Berlin for 10 years, and is still as passionate about it as 10 years ago—who wouldn't be, if you lived in a city like Berlin, right?

Things to keep in mind

Cancellation policy

Any experience can be cancelled and fully refunded within 24 hours of purchase, or at least 7 days before the experience starts.

Communication policy

Always communicate through Airbnb. To protect your payment, never transfer money or communicate outside of the Airbnb website or app.

Guest requirements

Up to 10 guests ages 12 and up can attend. You should be able to walk about six miles. Please bring a Kurzstrecke public transport ticket if you don't already have a public transport ticket.

Government ID

You’ll need to take a picture of yourself that matches the photo on your ID. This is so Airbnb can confirm who’s actually going on the experience. You’ll only have to do this once.

More tips

Bring some curiosity and happiness, a public transport ticket (Kurzstrecke is enough), money for snacks, drinks, and ice cream, and energy to walk some miles.
