What you'll do

We'll meet at my cozy studio and you can choose your favorite from a selection of antique kimonos. I will help you dress up and arrange your hair with my accessories. Then we'll start shooting. I will teach you how to pose nicely, like a model. If you attend with your children, I will teach you how to take photos of your kids, as I have years of experience in this area. I have tons of ideas about how to relax little ones and other models while they are standing in front of a camera. You can also take photos with your own iPhone or camera. After the shoot, I will give you the photo files to take home and they'll be a nice memory of your trip. My photo studio is located in the center of Osaka and there are many shops and places you'll want to check out. Please ask me any time for my recommendations.

Mariko

I'm a photographer, and I used to work at a photo studio and as a stylist. After delivering my daughter 11 years ago and realizing there weren't photo studios for kids, I decided to open my own. I love taking photos and traveling—these are wonderful treasures of my life. I communicate with locals by taking photos, which helps me to connect with them. My camera is always next to me and it brings me lots of smiles and friends. To me, photography is my communication tool and it builds the trust between me and a subject. I would like to help give you wonderful memories of your travels.

Where you'll be

We'll be in my studio along Midosuji, a famous road that often appears in song lyrics. My studio is 15 minutes on foot from the JR Osaka Station and the Umeda Subway Station. It is a 10-minute walk from Nakatsu Subway Station—near my favorite curry shop—and a five-minute walk from Umeda Loft, which sells a lot of fun items such as miscellaneous goods, kitchen supplies, stationery, and so on. I recommend it if you're looking for souvenirs.
