What you'll do
Kinsale, known as the gourmet capital of Ireland plays host to our Feasting, Foraging and Folklore experience. Its incomparable coastal beauty, medieval architecture, brightly coloured buildings and salty sea air are a feast for the senses. Drive out to the coast where I will meet you to forage for wild seaweeds, shellfish and plants. As time progresses you will learn stories of pirates, smugglers and seaside shenanigans. With our appetites whetted from the salty sea air, we return to Kinsale to consume some local culinary delights. This immersive experience lasts approx 3 hours.
I started these tours from a combined love of Kinsale itself and an obsession with food, its origins and the coast. I originally worked as a Zoologist in the freshwater and marine environment. After working around the world I became a professional guide in New Zealand and then worked with whales in Canada. On returning to Ireland, I started my own tour guiding business in 2015. The more I learned and rediscovered my homeland, the more I fell in love with it. The combination of stunning scenery, fantastic people and mouth watering delights won my heart once again.
3 course meal provided. Different diets catered to, please enquire for more info.
Where you'll be
For the foraging, we will meet at Sandycove to learn more of the stories of the area. A local gem that has its own island, majestic wild goats and a very enthusiastic bunch of year round local swimmers! We will return to Kinsale town for the eating portion of the tour. You will need your own vehicle for this tour.
