What you'll do

We will take you to explore the beautiful woods and a secret garden in the area to get inspired. During the day we will introduce you to nature journaling and will provide you with your very own nature journal and some simple starting ideas. Drawing skills aren't required—it's about having fun and recording nature in your way. We'll bring along our favourite field guides for reference and drawing examples. Over the course of the day, Johanna may take pictures (if you want) and share them with you after our walk. Every walk is different depending on the season, the weather, and your personal interest. Feel free to contact us beforehand if you have any questions or special requests. If you have a specific interest let us know and we will try to tailor the walk accordingly.

Johanna

Hi I’m Johanna, a botanical illustrator and student in horticulture. I love exploring and documenting things, you'll usually find me carrying several notebooks and books—and complaining because they're so heavy. I’m interested in sustainability, foraging, nature journaling, permaculture and learning about plants. The natural world inspires my art and photography. My boyfriend George is also a horticulturalist and comes along to these walks. He has an interest in growing vegetables, sustainability and we often nature journal together.

Where you'll be

We'll wander up and around Corstophine Hill. Outdoor clothing will be essential and please dress for the weather. Some days you'll just need a big comfortable jumper to stay warm or a raincoat to stay dry—better safe than sorry. If the weather is nice, we’ll bring a picnic blanket. Let us know about any allergies or food preferences. We usually bring some fruits and vegan biscuits.

Things to keep in mind

Any experience can be cancelled and fully refunded within 24 hours of purchase.

Guest requirements

Up to 8 guests ages 14 and up can attend. Parents may also bring children under 2 years of age.

More tips

Please let me know if you have any wishes, ideas or interests for the walk. Generally the walk is not very strenuous but it may be depending on how far you wish to go. I’m always open to changes so please let me know beforehand if you have something specific in mind or need to take it slowly.
