What you'll do
We will be wet felting and needle felting with wool from my sheep. This includes a tour of the farm and the mill to get you acquainted with the whole process of where the wool comes from and how it is prepared for your use. We will be wet felting a base piece and then an introduction to needle felting. As time allows and the felt dries, you will be able to decorate your piece of wool as well as work on a smaller, three-dimensional needle felted piece to take home, essentially having 2 projects. Please note: The photos are examples of works I have done. It's helpful if you have a design idea, but not necessary.
*Please note: I am available for other dates, AND you can stay here in an antique sheepherder's wagon or cabin! Please inquire or check out my farm stay listings. https://www.airbnb.com/users/3124664/listings Our newest addition to the farm is a wool mill. We create beautiful yarn, roving and batts and have the ability to provide wonderful wool for your felted creations. I have been the Artist in Residence at a local elementary school for 10 years, teaching wet felting techniques as well as needle felting. I have taught needle felting, across the state and in my travels, to many ages. I love sharing these processes and teaching all ages about wool and the sheep who make it. It's a renewable resource and an ancient form of clothing. The wool used is grown right here by happy sheep.
