What you'll do

We'll be exploring the cobbled streets of Ancoats and the Northern Quarter on this "Canals to Canapes food tour."
The aim is to show you a different side of Manchester and to showcase some of the food heroes that live and work here.
We'll start off in an area commonly described as one of the UK's coolest places to live. Canal side mills and factories are now apartments, bars and restaurants. Where cotton used to be unloaded and factories were teeming with workers is now an area known for food, drink and culture.
Strolling around the area we'll talk about the Industrial Revolution and how this area was the beating heart of it all. We'll tell stories about the gangs that owned these streets, what life was like for the workers and how the area has changed over time.
Food is never far away on this tour. We'll visit one of the city's best bakeries and meet the bakers behind the bread.
One of Manchester's most famous restaurants is just around the corner. We have a special dish waiting for you with a remarkable Manchester story that has to be heard to be believed.
Moving on to the Northern Quarter we'll pass by hipster record stores, some of the best coffee shops and even get a sneak look into a hidden art centre.
We'll savour the best Indian flavours, delicious Italian gelato and a unique Manchester dessert. Please come hungry and ready for fun.

Born and bred in Manchester I love nothing better than to show off my city.
I went on my first food tour in Argentina in 2013 and I always try and join one when I'm in a new city. So I'd like to show you some of my favourite spots and the story behind them
Food can tell you so much about the city you are in. From politics and economics to religion and even happiness.
I want you to feel that you know Manchester once you've done the tour. The route is a little off the beaten path and some streets you perhaps wouldn't normally venture down. Don't worry though. A lot of guests have re-visited the spots we go to to sample more of their menus in their own time. This is great as we're also helping our local food heroes and it proves we are supporting the right places.
Feel free to get in touch with any questions about the tour or Manchester.

Where you'll be

Locally owned and run food businesses that produce some of the best produce in Manchester. Some are high end restaurants, some are back street dives only the locals know. What links them all is their excellent food and their unique Manchester stories.

My husband and I did the tour with Danny. Excellent mix of history and great food. We are from Manchester but found places we had mot seen before and some really great foodie finds. Would definitely recommend.
