About your host

I'm from Santiago and since I was a child I've been linked to cultural and musical groups in the city. During most of my working life I have worked in Compostela as a journalist and I am currently an official tourist guide of Galicia. I know very well the daily life in Santiago, its streets and monuments, its charming corners, its curiosities... In this walk you will discover the historic center…

What we’ll do

During the tour, which takes around 2 hours, we will visit the historical center of Compostela. We will leave the Praza da Quintana, we will visit the Abastos market, we will walk through the most emblematic streets, such as Rúa do Vilar and Rúa do Franco, we also will visit Alameda Park and we will finish the route walking through Praza de Praterías and the Obradoiro.

What else you should know

Although it is said that here in Santiago rain is art, the rain also wets. If it rains, bring an umbrella and clothing accordingly. If it is sunny, great, but I recommend sunscreen because we will be 2 hours in exterior.

Where you'll be

La Quintana, the starting point of the walk, is for most of the people of Compostela the most beautiful square in the city. There is the Holy Door and the Berenguela clock tower. We will also see the other facades of the Cathedral and meet emblematic figures of the history of Compostela, such as 'The Two Marías'. My favorite place on the route, the town market (Praza de Abastos), full of bustle and first class products.
