What you'll do

Your Night Time adventure starts with pickup from your Airbnb accommodation and takes you off on an adventure to find wildlife in it’s natural habitat. Most of it doesn’t come out until after sunset so we stay out after dark to see it!
We start around 1:30pm so you can have a relaxed morning and you will be back around 9:30-10:00pm. Afternoon tea and dinner will be provided so no need to worry about food.
We get to see some very rare animals, like Platypus and Tree Kangaroos, and the region we visit on the Atherton Tablelands is a beautiful place. It is close to Cairns so drive times are short. We visit several areas too so you get to see different places.
We do spend a few hours in the afternoon to see the Rainforest but it really comes to life when the sun goes down.
Being in the forest at night is an experience you will never forget. It is magical to hear and feel and see what it is like to be in there after dark. I use special lights so we can all see what’s around us and provide you with binoculars so you can get a really good view of the animals.
You will come away from this with a whole new understanding of Australia’s special environments and it’s wonderful wildlife.

I have lived in Cairns for 20 years, and spent the majority of that time either in the Rainforest, or on the GBR showing off the amazing wildlife here. I have been leading tours in and around our Tropical Rainforest for 5 years now specialising in Nocturnal animals. Some of the rarest animals in Australia only come out at night so you can only see them after dark, and with my knowledge and experience you will get to see them. Having 20 years here I know my way around and will take you to places not often visited and I will guarantee you will see lots of unique Australian wildlife with my help.

I will show you lots of different animals, birds and reptiles including the chance to see the Platypus and even Tree Kangaroos! If you like nature and wildlife you will love this experience.

This was a very inspiring tour. We saw so many beautiful plants and animals, and our host Tapio was very friendly, knowledgeable and keen to share information. I learnt a lot about the local area, and wildlife. Also I'm not even kidding I saw at least 6 platypus!

Host was a true expert regarding the tablelands plants, animals, and history. Very personable and fun. Highly recommend to anyone interested in seeing native animals in the wild and learning about the area.

The tour with Paul was great fun. He provided a lot of knowledge of the animals in the area and provided transportation to some spots that would have been hard to get to on our own. I really appreciated the length of the tour and moving around to different spots in 3 different national parks. The dinner was okay, portions were small but we really enjoyed the tea and cake break. Would definitely recommend this tour to any animal lovers out there who want to see some animals living in the wild.

Paul was a wealth of knowledge about the flora, fauna and history of the area. The walk through the rainforest was great, discovering huge trees and vines, some of them hundreds of years old. During our night tour, we saw platypuses and tree kangaroos which we were told not many locals have had the chance of encountering. The drive up the mountain was windy with many, many curves and the countryside was green, lush and beautiful. Wonderful day and something we couldn’t have done on our own!
